This place is great

There are some serious stairs to get to the guest house, but it was worth it. The place was beautiful, the deck had great views of the meteor shower. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and communication with Bob was excellent. Overall a fantastic place and stay in Bisbee

Still the best place to stay !

We have vacationed in Bisbee for 15 years, and have stayed at many places. This is our fourth time at the DJ, and it is still our favorite place !

Perfect getaway in Bisbee

Lovely restored miner’s cottage in an ideal location. Walkable (as long as you can hike 75 stairs), yet quiet and private. Bob is the perfect host - helpful, prompt, and friendly, yet you have undisturbed privacy during your stay. Cottage is well-appointed and adorable. Will definitely stay again.

Bob takes such great care to always us feel welcome. Even though we stay there quite often. Everything is clean, comfortable and even includes some fresh goodies. Would recommend to anyone that can walk the stairs. Patio is the best for relaxing.

Beautiful, cozy cottage with everything you need!

We loved our stay at this well-located Bisbee cottage with beautiful views. The breakfast items provided were a very generous touch! The space is warm and cozy and has everything you need if you'd like to do some cooking or just spend time relaxing. The spacious bathroom is beautiful, too. Its location near downtown Bisbee is perfect for exploring and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The hike up the stairs is definitely worth it - thanks for the great stay!

Stairway to Heaven

Totally enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place. Everyting was there for us on our arrival including a fresh loaf of bread. Bob was very nice and always ready to help if needed. Don't let the 75 steps keep you from visiting the beautiful retreat.

Best Perch in All of Bisbee

Doublejack guesthouse, perched above Bisbee in the Mule Mountains, was breathtakingly beautiful. From the hummingbirds to a family of deer, one of the best parts of the trip was sitting outside in the patio area mornings and evenings. Another favorite of mine was the original clawfoot tub in what was originally a miner’s cabin. Everything was lovely from beginning to end. Magical time!

Perfect Bisbee stay

The Doublejack Guest House was perfect for my vacation! The property was beautifully decorated and I felt right at home from the moment I walked in the door. Everything I needed was there including coffee and breakfast items. Although I found the narrow streets a bit daunting at first, the views more than made up for it. Bob was a wonderful host and I appreciated all of his suggestions on restaurants and things to do while in the Bisbee area. I will be back!

As always, a delight!

This was our fourth stay at the slice of heaven Bob and Jeff call Doublejack, and though we aren't certain how, each stay is better than the last. Every detail is provided for, and though one could simply hang in the cottage and write, read, snuggle - do try to get out and about and pretend you are a Bisbee local. Walk the stairs, eat the food, visit the galleries, drink the wine - and then return to your little magic world on the side of the hill and simply breathe. Go now, go often.

A gem of a place

We loved staying at Doublejack. Bob and his partner have done an excellent job providing for the comfort of their guests. Everything in the cottage is tastefully done, from the high quality bedding and comfortable bed to the leather couch to the breakfast for our first morning. It was quiet and peaceful, and the deck (which they built themselves) has a table and chairs and a great view of the town. We had two dogs with us that were happy and comfortable throughout. They wouldn't have to have done so much in such a classy way to provide a well-liked VRBO, but they did and I see based on other reviews it has made the difference in guest's stay here and has brought them back multiple times. We would stay again if we ever returned to Bisbee.

The Doublejack is a lovely place with thoughtful owners! Beautifully decorated with every comfort provided. Meticulously clean and nice private outdoor space with good views. There were beautiful flowering plants all around the outside and birdfeeders that brought pretty birds to the windows and deck. The fridge was stocked with fresh milk, juice, eggs, butter, and bread. And fresh coffee beans from the local coffee vendor with a grinder provided delicious coffee every morning. It was quiet and a wonderful breeze blew through the windows. We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back!

Magical!!

What a magical birthday weekend! I love the arty ambience. The attention to detail, well appointed kitchen, cozy bed, and all the other luxuries made my stay so easy and delightful. And host Bob is the absolute best! The stairs: be sure you’re up for it. And not a great choice if you’re hauling lots of heavy luggage. The climb and decent both were a challenge for me being out of shape and recovering from a broken ankle. But the workout and PT alone were worth it! The high and tucked away location of the place was the cherry on top! (Know that the guesthouse is around lots of other neighbors packed in closely on this hillside yet it felt very private and was SUPER quiet and dark at night.)

Doublejack Guesthouse is an absolute GEM in Bisbee! Bob is very thorough and responsive, never getting annoyed with questions—in fact he loves sharing about the town he loves. We got many great suggestions. Not gonna lie, the 75 steps to get up there are no joke...but there are landings, so you just take your time and it's fine (after adjusting to the altitude). Bisbee is built in a narrow valley, so many of the homes (and the whole town!) has steps. The view, the space, the vibe are all well worth it! Lovely little deck that is shaded in the late afternoon. The place is very comfortable and has everything you could need. Next time, we'll visit in cooler weather so we can see more of Bisbee on foot—the cabin is ideally located for exploring, but the heat got the best of us (even though it was 10 degrees cooler than our home in Phoenix!). We had lots of sweet little birds thanks to the filled feeders and we enjoyed a family of coati that roamed through the property several times. Definitely book your stay at Doublejack—you'll be glad you did.

About the host

Host profile image
Tucson Magazine named Bisbee, Arizona “Best Place to Get out of Town” for 2009, but we discovered this charming historical mining town on a road trip years ago. It was late afternoon and the sun was just setting on the red-colored mountains that surround Bisbee when we drove into town for the very first time. It was like we were looking at a picture-perfect postcard! One year later we came back for a second visit and it was during this visit that we bought a 100-year-old boarding house (which we made into our home) and the 110-year-old miner's cottage (now the Doublejack Guesthouse) next door. We love it here! Your hosts, Jeff & Bob.

Why they chose this property

Bisbee is a friendly and accepting community which offers everything from fine dining to old-west saloons, mining history, Victorian architecture, great hiking and world-class birding opportunities.

What makes this property unique

Whether you come for a weekend getaway or spend the whole week, you won’t run out of things to do or places to eat at. From a stone-baked natural pizzeria to a gourmet take-out café offering local wines, cheeses, breads, tons of house-made desserts, sandwiches, salads and more, one won’t go hungry in this town! Bisbee offers something for everyone – fun things to do, unique lodging, art galleries, and loads of shopping. In 2008 Arizona Highways named Café Roka and in 2009 Bisbee Breakfast Club among the top 25 restaurants in all of Arizona. History buffs will discover an award-winning Smithsonian affiliate, the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum. For the adventurous, there is the underground Queen Mine Tour. One of the best ways to experience Bisbee is to just get out of your car and walk around the charming alleys, stairways and sidewalks of Old Bisbee. Come with your sense of adventure and leave with a renewed spirit!
