There is a 31 day, monthly minimum stay @ this Property........This Beautiful 1952 mid-century modern home, is located on the hillside in the Pasadena Rose Bowl area; Linda Vista. This Specific location is key. Sitting on 2 acres of land; it is completely surrounded by nature and is unique in the privacy and serenity that it provides.

An Artist's Retreat; This is a rare gem of a home and truly provides a sense of peace and well being as you would find in worldwide retreats. It is a zen hideaway all your own to discover. It has two bedrooms and two renovated bathrooms with Designer Philippe Starck wall hung Toilets and a European Modern Kitchen. A well stocked kitchen makes staying at home for a meal delightful and cozy.The main floor overlooks and surrounds the original pool, which takes center stage, especially @ night when the turquoise blue glows and lights up the back yard. There is a cozy cabana off the poolside. There are two decks that are perched out over the canyon below. The Upper covered balcony has a double bed and is a great spot to stargaze at night and sit with your morning coffee and wath the wildlife on the hillside. There is an original gas fireplace in the living room for cozy nights and floor to ceiling glass panel that make up half the room. Vienna wood floor and original Terrazzo Flooring throughout. This one must be viewed in person to receive the full effect. Sit on the balcony soaking up the sun, take a swim at your private modern tree-house. Do yoga or meditate in the quiet and serenity of the natural surroundings. Regain a sense of yourself and bask in the beauty of your private retreat.

This home is nestled within a private canyon in the Rose Bowl area of Pasadena, California. A short five minute drive from Old Town Pasadena for dining, shopping, movies, museums and groceries. It is a great base for exploring nearby Los Angeles and just far away enough to get lost in the serenity of the natural landscape that surrounds this beautiful zen Hideaway. The house is designed around a refreshing vintage pool. Beds are situated on the covered balconies to sleep under the stars and be one with nature as if in a modern tree-house. Due to the traquility of nature set in a wonderfully private neighborhood that surrounds together with respect for the neighbors there are to be no parties at this home. This home is for those who come to soak in the beauty which surrounds both outdoors as well as from inside this home. A zen base from where to regain your senses.

Amazing Property

We loved this property. Traci and her zen style was perfect for the month we needed to stay. I highly recommend this house. We really loved the neighborhood and all the friendly neighbors as well.

BCS Championship Trip. War Eagle! 2014

Six family members and Auburn fans stayed at Traci's beautiful home for the BCS game. Thank you for sharing your exquisite home! The location was perfect! We could actually see the Rose Bowl from the house and walked to the game. Perfect! The pictures were accurate but the house was actually more exquisite, unique and comfortable than we could imagine! Traci's flair for decor, her artwork and furnishings made us feel like movie stars! Zen Hideaway is a perfect name for her house. If we ever go back to Pasadena, I hope we can rent her home again. My sister and I slept on the sleeping porch each night. The best sleep we have had in a while! Traci's was available to us anytime we had questions and since we had to make sure our team was going to the Championship, she pretty much held the house for us until after the SEC game. Thank you Traci! If we come to Pasadena again, I hope we can rent your wonderful home again. War Eagle!

Peaceful Zen Retreat

We love this property! A Mid-Century Modern home that is perfectly decorated in a natural minimalist style. Hidden away facing a canyon, it's a great place to view wildlife like deer and see every type of bird including owls. A great place to let go of all the stress that build up in day to day life. Many steps and paths lead to to little reading/meditation/yoga areas all around the property. We slept out on the cantilevered deck that looks over the vast property (not counted as one of the bedrooms, just the spot that seemed most interesting to us)....the smells, sounds and cool night air was perfect for us, and completely private. The pool and pool lounge area felt like an expensive resort. The fireplace in the living room was very romantic. The bathrooms are very beautiful and modern and we took turns soaking in the deep jetted spa tub in the master suite.....ou la la. Very short drive or walk down the hill to all the best restaurants, shopping and museums (don't miss the Norton Simon) that Pasadena has to offer. Love, love, love this place!

Exceptional, Quiet, Beautiful

Traci's home and property is exceptional. It is as if were staying in our own private park. Yet we were in walking distance to the Rose Bowl and our parade seats on Coronado and Orange. In particular highlights were the hiking trails, watching the deer while having morning coffee on the outside terraces and balconies. Birding is excellent without leaving the property. We also used it as a base to travel to locations in Orange County. Highly recommended.

Breathtaking

Breathtaking about sums it up. When we arrived, Traci was there taking care of details and gave a tour of the house. No matter where you are, you have incredible views of the ravine (may be a canyon - not sure). The decks perch out over the view and allowed us to take some pretty awesome pictures of six deer the morning before we left. The steps up and down the ravine that she has incorporated into the landscape make it easy for most to hike around and enjoy the surrounding area. Although not appropriate for those with walking disabilities, my bad knees did fine. I couldn't take advantage of the outdoors, but my family hopped up and down like little bunnies out there. The bedrooms were situated such that both my daughter and her husband and newborn son had their own "suite" that they enjoyed a lot. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and pots/pans. Because we were there for Christmas, Traci even put lights in the lemon tree so we had a Christmas tree as well. Thoughtful and attentive - loved every minute of our stay.

Everything and more

We were visiting Pasadena for the Rose Parade and were interested in a home convenient for the parade. Who knew we'd also found a beautiful home in a peaceful setting. Even though it's close to the Rose Stadium, you still feel away from it all sipping your morning coffee, under a lemon tree watching the hummingbirds and looking out over the mountains. A delightful visit.

Perfect So Cal retreat!

Where do I start in trying to describe this amazing place? The location is perfect - all the fun of Old Town Pasadena is right down the street, but when you walk into this house you feel a hundred miles away from civilization. The floor to ceiling windows reveal a rustic canyon teeming with wildlife and dotted with agave and cacti. Traci's eclectic decor is surprising and wonderful. The house is stocked with everything you need to have a great visit and reflects how much Traci cares about making your stay memorable. We recently moved back East after 20 years in LA and were desperate for an authentic So Cal experience. As we sat by the pool and watched the sun go down behind the canyon, we realized we had found it. We couldn't have been happier with this fantastic house and plan on a return visit soon. Perfect LA Experience

We were so happy to have been able to stay at this extremely beautiful and well-appointed home. It is situated in a canyon surrounded by nature. No other houses were in view and we saw deer, hawks, hummingbirds, and heard owls and coyotes. The neighborhood is quiet and there was barely any street traffic. The house is furnished by someone with an eye for perfection--beautiful art and furnishings. The kitchen cabinets were filled with unusual, mostly hand made, bowls and mugs. The drawers were well stocked with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. I am looking forward to renting the house again!

Family Gathering in Pasadena

Every prior review paints the picture of this beautiful retreat property in the heart of the Pasadena area. We were able to relax; enjoy the home, pool, trails, and meditation areas as a destination; while at the same time entertaining with our adult children; and sightseeing in the area. Thank you for all the beautiful touches and excellent appointments for cooking/bbq. Enjoyed reading the many art and architecture books. The pool was very private and we took advantage daily! Great privacy

I was surprised that the privacy in the pool area was as great as depicted in the VRBO photos. What you don't see in the photos is that the back of the house is an open vista without houses, trails or people. The pseudo Frank Lloyd Right styling was interesting and the portrait in the master bedroom is art worth admiring.

The title accurately reflects this very private retreat getaway..

The home was everything I had hoped it would be plus. The description and pictures really do not do it justice. Privacy, convenience, casual comfort at its best both indoors and out. A perfect place to relax after a day of activity in the area. Furnishings were clean and neatly presented. It is an extremely pleasant atmosphere, and one of the most unique settings I've ever seen. The walking paths out the back door are spectacular if you like to hike and explore. The property owner was the most responsive and accommodating I've ever worked with, and always answered the phone to respond to any questions we had. I was late arriving due to a delayed flight and it was no issue at all. I had to cut my trip short due to a personal issue and she was gracious in understanding and working with me. I can't say enough about her or the property, and I am looking forward to my return to LA and this home so I can take advantage of everything I didn't have a chance to on my first trip. I would recommend to anyone. I've stayed in many properties and I can wrap this experience up in saying 'the only surprises were pleasant ones'! M.H.

I was in the midst of trying to look for a perfect location to do our company's Spring Photo shoot and was in awe when I came across Traci's VERY lovely Zen Home. I hesitated sending my application since I noticed that everyone who stayed have rented her place for at least a couple of days/weeks/months while I only needed it for an entire day of shoot. I was very happy to get a call from Traci. She was very accommodating and nice and let me rent it last January. I remember walking in my crew speechless. I thought the photos says it all but it was even more breathtaking in person! I cannot believe I was just in Pasadena. It felt like a hidden secret place. As I waited for the rest of my models, I walked the vicinity and saw cute deers running outside the wild. They were totally harmless. It was just incredible that this house was so in-touch with nature like no other. ZEN is the perfect way of describing the place. I was not able to use every part of the house since it was very cold that day. I was only able to use indoor rooms but everything still turned out GREAT. There were unique art pieces everywhere, quaint and eclectic. My photos came out so good and my boss was very happy and impressed by the work done. I thank Traci so much for letting us use her house for the day. I would love to come back for our next session so we can shoot outside by the pool area. It has the most amazing back drop of nature. The sun gives perfect lighting and effects. I give this place 5 stars and can't wait to work with Traci again :))))))

For the second year running my wife and I rented Traci’s home, this time for a full three months. Please refer to my earlier review, as everything I wrote previously still holds true; however, Traci has made several notable improvements. She’s added a large round dining table and eight matching chairs, which transformed the dining area and enabled us to host larger dinner parties. In addition she has finished a rear verandah area, wonderfully situated in the middle of the magnificent, undeveloped canyon where the house nestles. You really feel like you’re in the most marvelous nature preserve. I have only stayed here in the winter but can’t help thinking how great it would be in the summer with its multitudinous outdoor areas and pool.

A Great Choice

Traci's home was the highlight of our family vacation. It is open, gentle and peaceful. The solitude it provides while being so close of a drive to an array of places including your choice of grocery store: Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Ralphs... the near by shopping district in Old Towne Pasadena, The Aroboretum, the neighboring town of Eagle Rock and it's mom and pop Pizza and Pastry Shops....even if you plan on doing a main attraction, the beaches and Disney aren't too far a travel. All of the nearby's aside, my family and I agree that next time, we'll scrap the tourist and town ventures for more time at the house. We all caught ourselves mesmerized daily at numerous views of nature and hills, deer and lots of squirrels. The vast distance of undeveloped land alone with suck you into a pleasant trance...There are so many areas to congregate or escape, all throughout the house and the property. The pool was refreshing by day an atmospheric glowing sight by night. It was the best choice after searching many homes for the perfect place to host my East Coast Family's visit to my new home in California. Thank you Traci.

An Amazing Location!

“Location, location, location” – you know the mantra. Well, that’s the only place to start with this property. Traci’s house perches out over a wild, beautiful, wholly unspoiled canyon, possessing marvelously dense vegetation and an astonishing amount of wildlife. I saw a pack of five coyotes hunting; I saw dozens of deer, prancing through the outback; and there is enough birdlife for a full season of a PBS nature show. I’d find myself staring out into the canyon, mesmerized by the beauty of its flora and the vitality of its fauna, and indeed there are trails cut which allow you to wander through it yourself. From inside the house, you can see no other -- at least none nearby. Peaceful. Genuinely tranquil. All this is extraordinary enough, but here’s the kicker: you can be in the heart of Old Town Pasadena in five minutes. And I really do mean five! I lived in Pasadena for years and had no idea this kind of property existed in the Linda Vista neighborhood -- combining natural beauty, peace and quiet, and solitude with blissful convenience. Should you have to get downtown or to the West Side, both the 110 and the 134 Freeways are close at hand. The house also has brand-new bathrooms and a new kitchen, which is well-equipped for actual cooking (except for the puzzling absence of a microwave). The pictures on vrbo are reasonably accurate and the house was clean. The owner was responsive and went out of her way to accommodate our request to stay a few additional days. Like every vrbo property -- like every property, yours and mine included -- this one is not perfect. For instance, there’s no door on the master bedroom’s bathroom and the pool needs re-surfacing. However, it seems ungrateful to dwell on these imperfections. I have stayed in 15-20 vrbo properties in Europe and on both coasts of the U.S. and this is one of the nicest. For me, there is one acid test: would I go back? Indeed I would.

pleasant surroundings

We stayed at this house 12/30/2010 for 5 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed the house and surrounding landscape. We were in town for the Rose Bowl and couldn't have chosen a more convenient location to downtown Pasadena. The owner was a most gracious host. Much better than any hotel accomodations!

Pasadena Zen Hideaway

We very much enjoyed our 4 nights in the fall of 2010. Comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms, gracious host. We loved the indoor/outdoor feeling of the space and kept finding ourselves on the outdoor futon, enjoying the light and the view, talking quietly, cuddled under the furry throw when the night cooled down but we still couldn't bear to go inside. I highly recommend this house.

Zen stay in a zen house

This house in Pasadena is really great. The atmosphere is totally remote and it offers great hill views. A great escape from busy LA. The house has a very personal decoration, very zen. Bohémien chic as they say in French. Some details are very nice, as the ceramic coffee mugs! And I personally like the idea of being surrounded by books (on f.e. Georgia O'Keeffe, Greene & Greene, ...) and magazines. It gives the place a personal character. The lemon tree (full of beautiful blue birds) in front of the kitchen window is lovely. Swimming in april was very cold in the pool that is not heated but at least you're sure of fresh dip! A place I would recommend. Also for people with young children.

My wife and I stayed in this house for 10 days. If one is looking for a charming, comfortable, well furnished and decorated artist hide out with magnificent views, a pool and canyon wild life (to watch beautiful deers right under the terraces was one of the highlights of our stay …), this is it! Our family of 6 recently ...

Our family of 6 recently returned from a CA vacation, part of which was spent at this very comfortable and conveniently located property. In fact, the location couldn't have been better, offering privacy and a unique experience. It was not far to Old Town Pasadena, and allowed easy access to expressways. The view is fabulous and those of us that slept outside found it to be extremely enjoyable! The owner was most gracious and wonderful to work with, even leaving a bottle of wine to ring in the New Year while sitting in front of the cozy fireplace.

This house was amazing. ...

This house was amazing. We stayed for 3 nights including New Years Eve and for the Rose Bowl and it was nothing short of what we expected. The pictures describe the house perfectly and the house was in a great location. Very peaceful and quiet. Sleeping under the stars was an enjoyable pleasure. Great amenities. I would recommend this house to any and everyone. Enjoy the tree house, the houses nickname.

I have lived in Pasadena for the last 31 as my homebase while traveling. It was originally attending nearby Art Center College of Design, which brought me to Pasadena and I have stayed in the area ever since graduating. My background is in Film, Photography, Interior & Garden Design. I feel that Pasadena is a World Class City, offering Culture and The Arts. The Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens, The Rose bowl Stadium and National New Years Day Parade to name a few of my favorites. It has an east coast feeling as you drive through the tree lined streets. However as you look out from the home into the distance you are transported and you could be anywhere in the world.
