About this property

3B/1FB/Kitchen, Center of Town, The Cottage @ the Manor

The cottage sits approx. 75 feet from the back of the main Manor, with a granite/stone breezeway between, creating a large patio space for you to enjoy. It also has a small fenced in back yard. Once inside the cottage it is open and airy, decorated with a nautical theme in the main living space/dining. This area also has the warmth of a cozy gas fireplace in the living area along with a "smart TV" included. The bedroom area is just around the corner, with a double bed and Armoire. The kitchen is more farmhouse industrial decor and is just off of the dining area and is fully equipped. Full bath has a stand up shower w/waterfall showerhead. Up the stairs is the second bedroom with a double bed and across from that is a small office with a daybed. The entire inside space and backyard is for you and you alone The large patio area is common space for all guest. Parking is located beside the Manor in the graveled lot with your own parking space for " The Cottage" Get away and come have fun in our small riverfront town. We look forward to welcoming you as our guest.
NOTE PLEASE READ: The upstairs bedroom and office has an A line roof and low windows, not recommend for young children and people over 6 ft.
Our town has active trains and the tracks are close, but you can hear them anywhere in town, we do provide ear plugs in the night stand, if needed.
One dog is included the pricing, more than one small additional dog fee, but must be on a leash when outside of the fenced in backyard. CLEAN up their Poop or you will be charged and extra 150.00.

Wonderful Stay
We rented for a month between Thanksgiving and Christmas while visiting family in the area. The cottage was wonderful, Fully equipped with everything we needed,. When we arrived and walked in, Gwen had the cottage decorated for Christmas to include a tree. A wonderful touch. We would certainly rent again.

Bryan and I (Gwendolyn) bought the Historic home in 2015, I absolutely fell in love with it and the quaint waterfront town. The "Cottage" at the time was being used as a glorified storage shed. However in the past it had been many things, most recently about 2011 it was known as a small little Bar called "The Bee's Nest" then it became a small convenience store. When we first bought the property we did a quick fix up of the cottage and our son and his wife moved in and rented for a while. After buying their first home we were trying to decide what to do with the space. Open another store? Move my gift shop into the space? So Many possibilities, but we finally decided to open it to guest visiting our little town. Currently there is not a place to stay right in town, and we wanted to share our love of it with others. It is a great little weekend getaway location. Not wanting everyone to refer the space as a Bar (mine you we love a cocktail or two from time to time) We decided to give the property a whole new name, Gwendolyn's Marigold Manor (Cira 1900). We are so happy that we took the time to look at this property, it was meant to be, we came to town to downsize, buy a little condo on the river, we said, ha ha ha. Gwendolyn

Why they chose this property

Beautiful 1902 steamboat gothic home. We have 3 different units, The King's Quarter's, The Queen's Suite and The Cottage out back. take a look at all of them. They are all designed to be an AirBnB not a Bed and Breakfast so each unit is totally private to you. We are within walking distance to everything! Our Waterfront Premade is 500 ft. away! Restaurants, Parks, Museums, Coffee Shop and Gift Shops. We love our Historic home and love being able to share it with visitors and guest!

What makes this property unique

Private Cottage all to yourself, contactless check in.
Fenced in backyard gas fireplace
Our local Marina houses boats and by river it's only a 20 min ride to the top of the Chesapeake bay
Private parking
