Serene Retreat Nestled in the pines- private & relaxing; Microweddings; Reunions
This estate home is built on 40 acres our family purchased from the original old-time homesteader. It is fondly known as Badger Run. After working the land for several years this stunning 7 bedroom 6 bathroom home became a dream come true and was purposefully situated on a favorite knoll within stately ponderosa pines and nestled off the beaten path complete with a pond, barn, rope swing and panoramic views. It is private, quiet, and Colorado living at its finest with places to walk, play and relax.
The home does not have A/C as it is situated in a high plains area at an elevation of 7500 ft and is equipped with several ceiling fans and many large windows to allow for good cross ventilation on warmer days. Badger is also on a well with wonderful clean Colorado water. No need to bring bottled water!
We can accommodate larger groups for events such as weddings and other gatherings up to 30. Any event over 18 people is subject to additional terms and fees; message us for additional pricing and policies.
We also have a listing across the street that can be rented for even larger gatherings up to 50 (sleeps 16 overnight). This is 1 C Barn, VRBO # 989769. If you contact Andrea, she has additional accommodations 12 minutes away at Pegasus Point, VRBO #3579680. Either of these spaces have discounts available for simultaneous bookings, just mention you have another booking with us!
Required short term rental agreement to follow all bookings via email. All reservations subject to booking at owner discretion based on the home's schedule. All rates subject to change prior to owner booking confirmation and all bookings require a direct conversation with the homeowners as to the nature of any planned group gatherings. Additionally, for property protection, two outdoor surveillance cameras are installed to monitor our garage and the parking and the rear pond area of the property.

Alyce answered any questions quickly. Our family of fourteen had room to gather or nooks to disappear for quiet time. The pool table was a big hit with several late evening tournaments!

Thank you very much for your review. We’re glad the whole family had fun and would love to host again anytime! Cheers
A few more wash cloths and towels and it would have been perfect. Not saying it wasn’t perfect just saying if that is the only “complaint” that I have then I highly recommend it to anyone else looking for enough space for a bigger group, very close to amenities but far enough away from the craziness. If we come back to Colorado again it would be hard not to consider coming back to stay here again. Thanks again from our family god bless.

Thank you for the kind words and suggestion! We will prioritize some more towels and would love to host again if you do find yourself in Colorado! Thanks!
We had a fantastic time and enjoyed the house very much. It was large enough for the group to spread out or gather together when we wanted. We would definitely recommend the place.
Great stay in Colorado Springs. The house was warm and welcoming. Plenty of space for the 12 of us. Wonderful location- close to the city but in beautiful, serene setting. We really appreciated the toys (race track) for the toddler. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well-stocked. Great communication! We would definitely stay here again.
Host was very accommodating, house had everything needed for our family reunion. Our teenage kids loved the entertainment area downstairs with the pool table and ping pong. If you're looking for a getaway from the daily city life this is exactly what it advertises - serene and relaxing. Highly recommend.
This home was absolutely beautiful! My son was married at 1C barn across the road. It was so wonderful to have a place for family and friends to stay so close to the venue of the wedding. I highly recommend staying here for a family reunion.
The house as immaculate and as shown in listing photos. Our family and friends had a fabulous time here while attending the wedding of our daughter at the 1C Barn property across the street

Thank you Mindy! We enjoyed hosting for this special time for your family.
Wonderful location - plenty of room for families with different aged children. Kitchen easy for family dinners. Kids excited to see a fox, bear, and deer. Lots of room for baseball and tag games outside.
What an incredible place! Stayed here with my bridal party in the days leading up to my wedding and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and peaceful place for us to stay.

We are so glad you enjoyed the space before your wedding. Thank you for the wonderful review!
We found the house to be spacious, particularly the kitchen, and easily able to accommodate our family. A perfect location and amenities. We came for a 75th birthday in the family and made it a micro-reunion. The house offered everything and we couldn’t be more pleased. Highly recommended!!
Great place for our whole family to gather with plenty of space and room for all of us. My wife and I, our 4 married children, and 12 grandchildren absolutely enjoyed or stay at your house. The location is great for a lot of adventures and the house is very spacious and comfortable with some great morning and evening views!

Family retreat 2022 is in the books and we could not have asked for a better space for our family to gather, enjoy meals together, laugh and make new memories. The kitchen is perfect when cooking for a large group. Would go back in a heartbeat!

My husband and I rented out this property in conjunction with the 1C Barn across the road for our wedding! It was so convenient for our families to be able to stay here, we could just walk to and from the wedding venue! Everyone raved about how beautiful the house was and we did our first look photos here. It was a wonderful place to stay!

About the host
Hosted by Alyce McElhoes
We purchased 40 acres from the original homesteader, built a small house 25 years ago to live in and then built our dream home in 2004. As a custom home builder for 35 years, this home has been our rest and respite after a days work. With kids out of the home, a smaller home has been in order. We hope memories grow here for families who come to vacation in Colorado.
Why they chose this property
We purchased 40 acres and developed it into Dancing Wolf Estates. It has a charming rural feel, and beautiful views, meadows and ponds.
