The place was amazing, clean and served as a perfect cabin weekend away with the family and our dog in the Laurel Highlands. Quick to Ohiopyle with privacy to enjoy time as a family by the campfire! We are already looking forward to booking again!

wonderful cabin in the Laurel Highlands

Just returned from a five day trip to the Laurel Highlands and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Outpost. It was an adorable, well equipped cabin right in the middle of a stunning forest. Highly recommend staying here and will probably book a return trip soon! Thanks!

Rustic Cabin with Fantastic Grounds

The gravel road could be an adventure for someone not used to it but it adds to the experience of being at “the outpost”. We loved walking around the property, sitting on the porch(under the fans), and making s’mores by the fire pit. Plenty of parking to have visitors, it’s a comfortable and clean Outpost close to local attractions.

Peaceful Stay

My two sons, ages 18 and 20, my husband, and I stayed here for two nights. The cabin was cute, clean, and cozy. They had many things available that a guest may need. My favorite thing to do was to sit on the porch in a rocking chair and just listen to nature. It was so peaceful. We loved visits from the owner's dogs. The location was close to food and things to do. Overall, loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Cabin

Vrbo never sent us the door code luckily the owner lives next door. Listening should list there is no dish washer, but there is a microwave, gas grill and that you need to supply your own firewood for the fireplace. Beds were not the best. Overall a great weekend would go back again.

A Hidden Gem

The Outpost was the perfect getaway. It was cozy, very clean, and well stocked with everything we needed including wood for the fire pit. We especially loved daily visits from Bart and Sofi. They are the sweetest and got along so well with our dogs. I feel like they become apart of our family for the weekend and we sure do miss them. The two ponds on the property were great for our shepherd. She loved taking daily swims in both ponds with Bart. The Outpost is very close to Ohiopyle State Park which is a must see. We will definitely return for another stay and can’t wait until then.

Lovely little cabin

Our family of 4 and our dog had a wonderful weekend away in this beautiful, newly renovated cabin. It was perfect for our purposes. Very clean, well equipped, and completely comfortable. Ohiopyle is close by and the hiking around there is top notch. A perfect family getaway. We can't wait to come back! Our only complaint was that communicating with the management company was not always the best. We had to sign some paperwork outside of VRBO and some of the interactions could have been nicer. With that said, any issues we had were fully rectified and we ended up happy. We met the actual owner out walking our dog and she was kind and gracious.

Weekend relaxation trip

We planned this trip to spend some days relaxing and unwinding, not knowing we would be coming here after a few very difficult weeks. It was exactly what we needed! Quiet, private, clean, spacious, and close to all of the things we wanted to do. Some went whitewater rafting and others went hiking. The dogs enjoyed running around the yard and playing in the ponds. They especially enjoyed the daily visits from the resident pups Bart and Sophie. The kitchen had what we needed, the air conditioning worked well, and the water pressure was perfect. We were even able to get food delivered! We would definitely stay here again. The owner was very friendly and lives close by. The Outpost is perfect!

I am giving an impartial review. I met the owner of the property and spoke with his wife. They were friendly. 1. The water pressure was extremely dismal and we could hardly bathe. They attributed the problem to a new well they had drilled for the property where we stayed. When they fixed it the pressure was fine but the water was brownish in color. 2. The TV reception was dismal as they told me they have fiber optic cable. The remote was extremely slow to respond and we never watched TV. 3. The property had a Keurig coffee maker but no Decaf coffee. 4. I had to purchase a bar of soap as they had bathing to respond.

The perfect 3 day weekend

If you are looking for a relaxing place located in a fantastic area, but yet secluded and offers a lovely welcoming cabin, then you need to look no further. This quiet cabin is close to Ohio Pyle, Laurel Caverns, and many more great spots to see and experience. And if you are a dog lover, you will be like we were and be in dog heaven. We had the honor of being welcomed and visited by Sophie and Bart, which made a great weekend even better. They became part of our many canine friends that we are privileged to have and look forward to seeing again soon. The pavilion by the ponds with the large fire pit offers a beautiful setting for an evening making mountain pies, hotdogs, and s'mores. Enjoy a porch swing while the fire pit crackles and great memories are made. Fantastic caring hosts and owners of this fantastic place is the cherry on top of a perfect weekend getaway. Thank you for sharing this special place and your fantastic, and our new friends Sophie and Bart. Looking forward to seeing all again next year. Fantastic location and property. Tucked away nicely but not too hard to get to in the summer. Bring a hammock, sit around the fire pit and enjoy the quiet. Be prepared for Bart the dog to be your porch pal, but he is extremely friendly. There's a gate if you need separation or have a pet that needs space. Our blue heeler and Bart got along great so no need for us to use it. House setup is good for 4 people. We were traveling with another couple and had plenty of privacy. 1 bedroom is closer to the bathroom so we put the heavier sleepers there. Kitchen and bath were both well stocked and equipped. We will stay again next summer! Thank you.

We loved our time at the Outpost! Close to all of the fun at Ohiopyle, but still secluded and utterly peaceful. The cabin was just what the 5 of us needed, and our dog enjoyed his time there, too. Visits from the friendly neighbor dogs made everything even more welcoming.

We had a wonderful time at the Outpost. It was perfectly located to Ohiopyle, Youghiogheny River Lake, and Laurel Caverns. We spent many evenings at the beautiful cabin just enjoying the many deer and turkey that roamed around. The highlight for us was the daily visits from Bart and Sofi -the neighbors labradors who where a wonderful welcome committee. We highly recommend The Outpost!

Fun times

Loved the property. Quiet, great porch and pavilion by the ponds. Dry firewood was provided. Had problems with the tv but wifi was good. There's no dishwasher but didn't mind washing dishes. Could have used a dish drainer, though. Remember, you're in the woods with all the little critters. Loved having the neighbor's dogs come and visit. They were very friendly and loving.

Private, Cozy, Perfect

This cabin was just as advertised. The road in is a bit steep, but the property itself is absolutely gorgeous, remote, and private - just what i was looking for. Despite the sense of isolation, food and basic necessities for a short stay are only a few miles away. Wifi connectivity was excellent, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the fire place made for a perfect rustic feel. My favorite part of my stay was the nearby ponds on the property and the chorus of wood frogs and spring peepers that lulled me to a magical sleep. I had the good fortune of meeting the owner and her ultra friendly dog Bart, I just can't rate this property high enough. If you are looking for an ideal location to stay in the Laurel Highlands that provides the best combination of location, modern convenience, and a truly rural setting, this is the jackpot right here.

Great stay at the Outpost Cabin

This cabin was just as advertised, and perfect for our family. We were looking for some winter isolation, and found it at the Outpost. The fireplace was great, the arrangement was perfect for family games in front of the fire or at the table, the kitchen had what we needed, and the beds were comfortable. The owners were very responsive to a few questions we had, and we enjoyed saying hello to their two very friendly dogs who stopped by. We would stay there again, summer or winter.
