First and foremost, we love Papakea and this was our fifth stay at this property. This specific unit and company that owns/manages the unit don't deserve anyone's business! I should have known things would not be good when they refused to respond to me during the booking process. I selected this unit and because of the price that was quoted when I looked at the property online. When I selected the property for a two week stay, the per night price increased significantly. I sent an email asking why this was happening and nobody responded. We had been forced to pick this unit at the last minute because the original unit, which we have rented three previous years became unavailable due to health issues the owner was experiencing. We didn't have much of a choice and paid the extra even though they falsely advertised the price. I have pictures of the original price. Second, we were forced to pay for insurance in case we, as adults, damaged the property or give them a deposit of thousands of dollars to hold and return if they decided they wanted to return it upon on departure.
Next, we arrived at Papakea was as beautiful as ever. We were excited to be back. Upon arrival in our unit, we discovered broken items. The sliding screen to the lanai was broken and did not slide. hanging incorrectly. The screen was completely broken out of the bottom of the door. The bedroom closet door was broken and completely off the railing. The one door that was attached, shook like crazy when the wind blew through the unit. The bathroom, the exhaust fan/unit was absolutely disgusting. I don't know how anything could be removed from the bathroom with the amount of dust/dirt on the unit. The few pictures in the unit were dusty. The garbage disposal did not operate at all. Surprise, after you put food into it! Internet was the lowest quality available from the internet provider. Our vacations are always working vacations and we could not log into our server at home because the internet connection was so poor. We've never had issue with internet at Papakea but the other unit had 2G which was much better. Many things would fall down, like part of the ceiling, etc.
Trying to cook in the room is difficult as well. No hot pads at all! minimal cooking containers and storage containers. One hand towel for the kitchen, period! I have a lot more to say but out of space now! Feel free to contact me for more information.
