About this property
The Snowed Inn at Serene Lakes. Upscale with Hot Tub and Garage Parking!
All the comforts of home await you in this true upscale mountain getaway nestled in the pines of Donner Summit.
Gorgeously updated kitchen, wood burning fireplace, hot tub, cozy rooms & warm beverages. Just steps from X country skiing, ice skating, sledding and close to Sugar Bowl, this location cannot be beat for a short getaway or a place to distance work/school .
In summer, it's short stroll to the lake for a paddle and swim or explore the local trails, lakes, and rivers.
With rustic charm but modern upscale amenities, this cabin is great for a true getaway.
The Space:
Enter the home through an enclosed slate mudroom and ascend stairs to a second floor hand scraped bamboo great room with windows on all sides. Enjoy open concept living in the updated kitchen with granite counter tops, pine cabinetry, and recently updated appliances.
Head up to a third master bedroom with views out to the pines and its own en suite bathroom. Enjoy a built in office nook for any distance work or school needs. Please note this bedroom is a true loft which is open to the main living area.
The large front deck is a perfect spot for watching little ones play in the snow, or in the summer bbq dinner and enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.
At night soak in the hot tub under the stars off the back deck. It has capacity for up to four guests at a time.
An additional playroom room with washer/dryer, beautiful Yamaha digital piano, and extra TV is located off the garage. This is a great space for older kids to have their own separate entertainment area.
Other property features: board games, smartTV, reasonable Wifi (ATT Uverse), wood burning fireplace, and sleds.
One car attached garage parking and two additional spots off street (weather dependent). Forced air heating plus wood burning stove available.
Other things to note:
- Absolutely NO SMOKING is allowed in or around the home. We have small children, and the smoke can be harmful to their health. If evidence of smoking has occurred, a fine will be levied.
- Placer County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is a rental tax paid by the guest for short-term rentals up to 30 days. It is 10% of the accommodations plus cleaning fee. It is not a tax on the business operator. Property owners must collect the tax from the guest on behalf of the County per Revenue Taxation Code 7280 and Placer County Code, Article 4.16. TOT also applies to all rentals from all internet based rental services like Airbnb in the unincorporated areas of Placer County.
-Our cleaning fee is slightly higher because of our strict adherence to maintaining a clean hot tub, which we cannot separate out in the fee structure. This requires a great deal of effort to ensure it is sanitized appropriately.
-We include some cooking supplies for your use: coffee, hot cocoa & tea, coffee fixings, complete pancake mix for your breakfast, oils, a dozen spices, and some condiments in the fridge.
-Mountain WiFi tends to be a little slower than what you may be used to. It does not have the capacity for everyone to stream. Our place is intended as an escape from technology creating meaningful engagement with the folks you are adventuring with.
-In winter when snow is accumulating, the driveway will be plowed at least one time a day conditions permitting. If your car is in the driveway, it may not get plowed. Please move your car if you see the plow in the driveway so we can get the driveway smooth of no snow. This is very important when it is dumping snow. NO MORE THAN 3 CARS please (1 in garage, 2 in driveway).
-Please note that in winter, snow accumulations are commonplace. Please review all I-80 CalTrans and CHP alerts for travel restrictions and carry chains if need be. If you aren't sure you will need them, contact us and we will help. Mountain weather can change quickly; be safe and prepared.
*This area can get up to 600+" of snow per year. Please plan your trip accordingly as we cannot be responsible for missed nights due to weather or travel delays. Visit "NOAA Weather" online and search conditions for zip code 95728. This is a great reliable source for weather conditions (if that even exists ;))
-Power outages can happen during the winter. Especially on the top of the mountain! Although we do not have a generator, we have a wood burning fire place which heats the cabin and a kerosene lamp for ambience :)

Why they chose this property
This home is located in the Serene Lakes area of Soda Springs, CA. This area is a very tranquil community of beautiful homes surrounded by National Forest and land belonging to the Tahoe Donner Land Trust. Multiple hiking/mountain biking trails are located a few blocks away, as is Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort. A five minute walk to the shore of the Lake, and a short drive to Sugar Bowl/Boreal Ski Resorts. Located just shy of Donner Summit, this location allows for quick access from the Bay Area and minimizes dreaded winter Tahoe traffic.
