Gorgeous view. Walking distance to local restaurants and bars. If you are OK with hanging out with the locals, this is your place. Short driving distance to very remote beaches with privacy. Great value, experience was just as advertised. We had a great time.

I had a great stay at the cottage. It was peaceful to be on the water and is right by the beach. I saw two large pufferfish literally frolicking in the water one morning for about 20 minutes. There are a lot of birds and a beautiful kingfisher landed on the balcony when I was sitting there. It is a perfect cottage for one or two people and very quiet and serene and safe for a solo female traveler.

Cottage with an Amazing View

This cottage is a great place to stay on Eleuthera. It is centrally located so you can visit beaches and restaurants in the north and south. Loved the sounds of the waves hitting the rocks Be sure to go outside at night and look up at the starts. Highly recommend.

The little cottage was delightful. Great deck right over the water. Comfortable lounge chairs on the deck as well as a table and two chairs. Comfortable bed. The ceiling fan and heat pump kept us cool. We did have some trouble with the cable tv. Very fuzzy. Kitchen had most of what we needed. We did buy a couple of wine glasses.Evenings were quiet and lovely. We could walk to most things in town from the property.Nicole was helpful.We enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend it.

Quaint Cottage- Lovely Experience

My husband and I stayed at the Buttonwood Cottage and had an amazing stay! The host was very responsive, friendly, and helpful. We loved the private balcony and being able to end our day with a lovely view of the ocean. It was a great central location between Governor’s Harbor and North Eleuthera for exploring. It was perfect for just the two of us!

Awesome view! This bungalow is cozy and secluded. The back deck sits right over a 25’ cliff to the water. Great snorkeling from the beach with tons of sea life.

Relaxing!

Great little balcony over the waves and clean little cottage. It is what I term “bare bones”, but we didn’t care; the view, location, hosts Steven and Nicole and nice little beach within walking distance more than made up for it.

Yes it is a simple small cottage, but there are all the basic amenities any travel would expect, plus many more many other rentals do not carry; toilet paper. paper towels, kitchen sponge, dish soap, seasonings, full kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining table and chairs, BBQ grill, all linens, beach and bath towels and hand towels and kitchen towels, beach chairs, chaise lounge chairs etc. Just wanted to notate that for anyone reading this review that we really aren't a bare bones rental at all. - Thank you - Marielbys

I had a real nice time here & the host was very helpful when I contacted her. Finding the cottage in Hatchet Bay took awhile. The exact location with landmarks would be beneficial. While the cottage is furnished with needed items, it is not as furnished as other properties I have stayed at. More details regarding the TV and the gas stove would help significantly.

I want to point out to future guests reading this that Thomas was sent a twenty page trip planner document each guests receives providing exact directions with landmarks to the cottage, all amenities we provide such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, beach towels etc are listed on VRBO and in our private document and communicated to him prior to arrival. The TV operation with a remote control is pretty standard stuff as is the operation of our standard/normal gas stove. Honestly we never have had to explain how to operate the TV or stove previously and Thomas never asked during his stay which could have easily been addressed, but as a host you cannot fix something or help a guest if they do not communicate a need. The deck was the best!

The deck is the highlight of the property. We enjoyed breakfast, cocktails and dinner out there along with a beautiful breeze and sunsets. The space is small but has everything you need. The beach chairs,cooler and cold packs were a welcome surprise! Nicole the owner was very nice.

True Bahamian experience

Wonderful cottage overlooking the sea, my comments won't do it justice. Exceptionally clean and well maintained we highly recommend staying here. Perfect location between Gregory Town and James Cistern, make sure to visit the local restaurants (Twin Brothers, Rainbow Inn and Daddy Joe's) Thank you Nicole.

Lovely Place, Lovely People

Great place for a little getaway

This rental was everything we expected and then some. The views from the outside deck were outstanding both at daytime with a crazy amount of wildlife right below your feet and at night with the lack of residual light making it perfect for star gazing. This island is not like other Bahamian islands and not for everyone however a great location to explore from top to bottom. 5 STARS

Simply Paradise

My husband and I stayed at beautiful buttonwood cottage for our 10 year anniversary. We had the best time! The cottage was everything we needed. It was private, centrally located making it very easy to commute to all of Eleuthera attractions. We were very pleased with our experience and plan to return as soon as we can. Husband's Dream Vacation

After watching HGTV's Bahamas life and saw this Island I knew I had to come see it in person. It was everything and more from what we saw on TV. Buttonwood cottage was the perfect place to stay too. Cozy, private and centrally located to great beaches and restaurants. The town folks were friendly and accommodating. Steve our host was the best. Friendly and very knowledgeable about the Island and life the Bahamians lead. Highly recommend this property!!

THE VIEW-Incredible!!!

The view from the deck is amazing. Your front yard is the ocean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buttonwood and will definitely go back. It's tiny, but who needs a huge place while staying in Eleuthera? Get out and explore! Great location. Nicole, the property manager was attentive and responded quickly when we couldn't figure out how to light the stove. Great communication.

Tiny house with everything you need except a closet They even supply beach chairs and a beach cooler. But the really amazing part is the deck on top of a small cliff with view that is 180 degrees of ocean. We didn’t use the air conditioning as the ocean breeze blew right in the windows at the foot of the bed with the sound of the ocean

Loved it so much I came back!

I absolutely love this property! I came back cuz I love the deck. It’s quiet and I love exploring the island, Cocodimama and Popino were probably my favorite beaches. The hosts are available if you need but you also might not see them at all. They give you a pdf with lots of info, they’re quite clear about what the property is and isn’t. It’s not a luxury property, it’s not huge but the deck is amazing and I’d come back again.

Awesome views!

The bungalow is small and rustic as advertised. Sitting on the deck is just like the pictures and a short walk to access the water for great snorkeling. However, there is no shade on the deck and that limited the enjoyment to morning and evenings. Not having wifi was an issue and you had to walk up by the owners house to get connected, but this is noted in the listing. Stray dogs and some noise in the neighborhood and the location is a bit distant to any amenities. Bring your bug spray.

It is very unfair of this guest to give us a 3 star review when they complain about things that our clearly outlined in our listing. The Wi-Fi at the time of her stay was only outside at the picnic table and was 100% disclosed, as was the fact it is a local town with roosters and "potcake" stray dogs that are usually very lovable, with distant music on weekends occasionally, we do not show a shade umbrella in our photos so not sure why she would be expecting one. Complaining about bugs on an island, has nothing to do with our rental. Glad she at least mentioned a few positives. The vast majority of our guests rate us a perfect 5 stars every time.
