Walk to Beach

As a single female, I love the peace and quiet plus convenience of the South Forest Beach neighborhood, which is mostly residential, without too much hustle and bustle, and the hassle of the large gated gated communities. Solo sojourners will love this hidden gem. A short walk to Alder Lane, one of only seven public beach accesses on the island, takes you past the Marriott Grande Ocean, providing use of showers, restroom facilities, and the Loggerhead Landing beach bar and grill, with live music, and firepits on the cool evenings. Beach chairs and umbrellas may be rented from the lifeguard stand.
For evenings at home, curl up with your choice from well stocked bookshelves, DVD collection, or TV streaming package. It's quiet, you can open the windows and hear the surf, but not a steady stream of traffic. Hilton Head is known for its excellent restaurants, many of which are located on the south end. Call ahead for carry out, or cook out on your grill at the condo. By day, venture down to South Beach or Palmetto Bay Marina for a fishing excursion or Dolphin tour. Or just watch the dolphins make their appearances at low tide on your regular beach walk. Surf fishing is legal (just beyond the designated swimming zone) if you want to toss in a line and find out what the dolphins are chasing.
