Mission Beach is a 3 mile narrow stretch of land between the shores of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean. This makes access to the bay or beach an easy short flat walk. The Belmont Park roller coaster area of Mission Beach gets busy on nice weekends, due the restaurants/bars, several large public parking lots, gym with competitive swim pool, and of course the amusement park. Driving past Belmont Park, you are now in the cul-de-sac called South Mission Beach. The atmosphere of this tiny nook of 92109, is a slower paced beach vibe. Don’t let the casual feeling fool you, this area is buzzing with a variety of daytime activities. South Mission has a large area of beach volleyball courts, set up by various clubs and locals. There are many permanent full time residences in South Mission. In fact, my street San Luis Ray Pl has a handful of families residing full time on this special street. If you are looking for a place to party, I recommend staying near Belmont Park or North Mission Beach. Pacific Beach area allows for quicker access to bars, freeway and downtown night clubs.
