Enjoy some peace and quiet by escaping to the Cinnabar Canyon House, tucked in the Gallatin Mountain Range and only 12 miles from the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The four miles of dirt road and private driveway guarantee complete privacy to truly get away from it all.

The home boasts a large manicured lawn with a kids' playhouse and basketball court, all safely contained by high fences to keep children safe from resident wildlife such as elk, deer, and big horn sheep. The wrap-around wood deck and shaded cement patio overlook the Cinnabar Canyon mountains and are well equipped with ample and comfortable outdoor seating for dining and lounging. We do not have AC but there are fans in every bedroom and ceiling fans in the great room. To keep the house cool, open the windows at night and shut them first thing in the morning.

Just inside the front door under the covered welcome porch is a spacious open floor plan with the fully stocked kitchen and spacious living room. Between the dining room table and breakfast bar, it’s easy to seat all guests inside for shared meals. There are two queen bedrooms and one full bathroom with a washer and dryer unit. The glass door leading to the upper deck has a wraparound deck with additional outdoor seating as well as a BBQ.

The downstairs has a large master king bedroom with a private entrance to the lawn and shaded cement patio seating area, a kid’s play room, full bathroom, and a dorm style bunk room with two sets of twin bunk beds, a twin with a trundle bed as well as a stand-alone twin bed.

Although it’s a rural neighborhood, there is plenty to do. The former owners of Canyon House live nearby and have a fully operational outfitting business (Wilderness Connection) that offers horseback rides, white-water rafting, and zip lining. Historic Gardiner, the only year-round entrance to Yellowstone Park, is a short 20 minutes away. A step back in time to the Old West, Gardiner’s main street has restaurants, art galleries, gift shops, gas stations, a grocery store and a small pharmacy.

The Yellowstone River is 4 miles away and is the longest undammed river in the continental US with fantastic trout fishing and white-water rafting. You must purchase a fishing license to fish there. It's easy to fish from the banks, only minutes from the house, or hire a guide to take 1-2 anglers via drift boat. Guides provide shuttles, all fly-fishing gear including rods, reels, and flies, as well as lunch and instruction. A perfect experience for novice or expert fishing folks. The river also offers exciting white-water rafting for the thrill-seekers in your crowd (or tubing for the mellower ones).

Yellowstone National Park, about 20 minutes away, features world-famous geysers, abundant wildlife, and landscapes of stunning beauty. You can explore on your own or take advantage of superb wildlife tours.

Other nearby attractions include the newly built Yellowstone Hot Springs, just 4miles away on the Yellowstone River before at the intersection of Corwin Road and highway 89. The wonderful Chico Hot Springs is a short 20 minute drive north. There are three yearly rodeos during the summer. The first is in June in Gardiner, the second is over the 4th of July in Livingston and the final is the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) which takes place late July or early August. Getting tickets in advance is highly recommended.

The Cinnabar Canyon House is the perfect basecamp for your southwest Montana vacation!

Peaceful Stay in the Country
Our family enjoyed staying at Canyon House. It was far off the beaten path, so we were able to see the stars and the Milky Way at night from the deck. We saw big horn sheep on the road near the property. Also, at night you could hear the bubbling creek near the home. The home was clean and well-stocked with everything that we needed. We had comfortable beds and clean bathrooms with plenty of towels. We were able to use our cell phones for calling and texting very easily by using the WiFi even though there was no cell phone coverage. The WiFi was fast and consistent. The road into the home was a dirt road for a few miles, and while it was bumpy and remote, it was easy to find with the directions provided by the property manager. We printed off the directions so that we could easily see the landmark photos that were provided. Thank you, Tanya, for such a lovely stay!

A great time in Yellowstone
We had a wonderful stay at the Canyon House. Plenty of space for everyone (10 total people). The property is just as beautiful and scenic as Yellowstone itself. My one and only issue would be that there was a lot of condiments and open jars of things left in the fridge which took up a lot of space. Besides that, everything was well appointed and taken care of.

Beautiful Family Cabin Near Yellowstone
The cabin is in a beautiful and secluded area but it is near Gardiner and the north entrance to Yellowstone making it a great base camp for a trip to the park. The home is fully stocked with all the amenities you need in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. There is also high speed wifi and a play area indoors and outdoors in the fully fenced yard. There is no AC but the house stayed cool in July with the windows open at night and provided fans. I would definitely stay here again. The host was great at communicating and responding to our questions. Check in and checkout were very easy. This is the perfect Yellowstone base camp for families.
