About the host
Hosted by Gary Storm

I am a retired faculty member and dean from the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) now living with my wife, Jamie, a retired hospice nurse, in Urbana, my hometown.
We have five children and two grandchildren scattered across this country and Canada (Toronto). I have a long-standing interest in architecture and social history and a special interest in the Arts and Crafts movement centered in the UK and US in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Why they chose this property
It is my interest in Arts and Crafts style architecture that attracted me to this beautifully restored house and motivated me to furnish it with new, but period style furniture and decorative items. In addition to making the house available as a VRBO property for short and longer term rentals, I plan to work with the College of Fine and Applied Arts to explore renting the house to arts and horticulture students who would be involved in the further refinement and maintenance of the property overtime. The house will also be available for rental to University faculty and staff in the community for limited periods of time (soft-funded research projects, sabbatical leaves, etc.).
What makes this property unique
Staying in the house will provide not just an enjoyable aesthetic experience amidst high quality functional amenities, but access to a wonderful array University and community resources within easy walking, biking or busing distance to avoid the hassles of parking in these settings.
