Lake Escape is a cozy cottage located in Union Pier, Michigan. It's just a short 1 1/2 blocks from Berrien Street Beach and beautiful Lake Michigan -- close enough so that you'll never miss a sunset! Take advantage of the nearby Whistle Stop Cafe and Red Arrow Roadhouse. And it's just a short drive to many other local favorites!

You'll enjoy all the comforts of home with three bedrooms (2 queen and twin bunk) and one bathroom (walk-in shower), washer and dryer, fully stocked kitchen, dishwasher, Internet and cable (including MLB extra innings).

The cottage is a great stay for families with a large backyard area (shared with our co-op neighbors), a fire pit, gas grill and outdoor dining space. Take a soak in the private outdoor hot tub (open year-round!) and enjoy the stars to cap off a day at the beach or your time in Harbor Country. Make memories that will last a lifetime at Lake Escape...the beach is calling!

This is our second year in a row staying here for girls weekend! Tammy and Steve are great hosts! If your looking for a place to stay for a close walk to the beach or Wineries this is the cutest place and great location with a hot tub to wind down your day in!

Wonderful family vacation

A wonderful getaway!

We had a wonderful time staying at this property! Itโ€™s beautiful, clean, and has everything you need! The owner was so kind and set up the pack and play for my daughter. The hot tub was great perk as well! Itโ€™s centrally located, with nice outdoor space too! We canโ€™t wait to come back next year.

Super cozy home in the best location!

Adorable cottage with everything you need!

We had a wonderful stay in the adorable and fully equipped Lake Escape cottage! Every little touch the hosts put into home - decorating, supplies, cleanliness, comfort items, and even games - was so appreciated by our family! The proximity to the local beaches and restaurants also made it a super fun trip. A great neighborhood to walk or ride bikes and explore. We hope to return to Lake Escape soon!

Wonderful beach house!

Wonderful beach house in Union Pier! Nice amount of space, looks just like the photos (lovely!), and very nice and well-stocked kitchen. Short walk to a beautiful beach- plenty of room to spread out during our visit in mid-May. Relaxing hot tub. Very short walk to Whistle Stop cafe, which was terrific. (Note for those new to this beach- the walk down to and back up from the beach is a little steep and all sand- no stairs.) Wonderful experience!

a perfect weekend

a wonderful birthday weekend getaway! tammy was such a pleasure to work with- so patient with my every question and request. truly. the home was clean and beautiful, thoughtfully appointed, ideally situated, and quite a bit bigger than i anticipated. quick stroll to the beach and several other places. i honestly canโ€™t wait to return- i think i found my new favourite union pier rental!

Within walking distance to a great restaurant and a coffee shop. House was everything we expected and more. Very clean, and came with all the little extras, even coffee!!! Owners were wonderful to work with and answered all my crazy questions and then some. Would definitely book again, just know that the next time I need to bring my laptop. I'm a TV watcher at night and there are no TV'S in the bedrooms. Which I understand I'm just one that needs that back ground noise all the time.

Repeat customer happy again!

This was our second year staying at Lake Escape. Despite a lot of rainy weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Union Pier, and much of that is because Lake Escape provides a clean, cozy environment where you can hunker down on rainy days or be at the beach in a flash when it's sunny. Tammy and Steve think of every last detail (love the new Tommy Bahama beach chairs!), so you don't have to haul everything with you. My only complaint, which is VERY minor, is that I struggle with the lockbox every year when checking in and out. My teenager can figure it out, but I can't! But again, I can't say enough good things about this rental and its owners. We will be back!

Beautiful and convenient!

What a GREAT week! We stayed here with our teen daughter and just loved it! The location was perfect to walk to the beach (5 min), walk to union pier downtown for ice cream or pastries (7 min walk) or 1 min walk to whistle stop cafe or roadhouse !! We brought our bikes and rode the bike path and little roads around everyday! Super safe and friendly neighborhood!! Perfect places to walk and so much to see! We had a rainy day, so we went to the Michigan City outlet mall and also into New Buffalo (10 min) and the Stray Dog was a MUST eat place! We even went 8 min north to Warren Dunes and Weko Beach just to explore. However this cute place had everything we needed and we would not have had to leave in our car once all week if we chose not to! Beds are comfy, firepit cozy, hot tub amazing and so many kitchen utensils for cooking and family board games to keep us busy! This is a great place! We will be back!

We love this place!

I'm a VRBO veteran, having rented in SW Michigan about 7 times prior to this year. This rental was the best yet -- the reviews don't lie: The owners of Lake Escape have thought of everything. From providing enough sundries (TP, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent) for the week to having extra toiletries on hand and both random items you might not think you need (a hot dog toaster!) and pens/pencils/pads of paper and a USB charger next to the bed I slept in, they really hit the mark. The place is spotless, too, and despite being near the train, we slept very well and enjoyed the quiet of Union Pier evenings. But if you are a light sleeper or have little ones who aren't on a regular schedule, you might find the train startling. Other than that, you can't beat being right next to the Whistle Stop Grocery and Red Arrow Roadhouse either (the latter especially on the first evening, when you're too tired to grocery shop.). A quick note on the 4/5 for check-in: It took awhile for me to figure out which compartment of the key lock box I should be prying open to retrieve the key. I had to YouTube it. If you have more experience with key lock boxes, this won't be a problem for you! We will definitely book a stay here again next time we visit Union Pier!

This was year 5 for our girl's weekend in this beautiful home that offers you anything you could need and still make you feel at home. All the extra touches that Tammy and Steve offer excels above other homes that we've rented and we couldn't be happier to continue coming to this wonderful area because we are located perfectly to get to anything. This includes a very short walk to a beautiful beach, with all your Beach needs ready there waiting for you. We hated to leave, but already know that we will be back for year 6!!

This place was absolutely perfect for our family of 5. Truly appreciated the kid friendly games, all the beach toys/equipment, books to read, amenities, everything! So many small details thought of and accounted for. Restaurant right in the backyard, which was great when we had a 50 minute wait :) My husband and I can be nitpicky and we truly had next to nothing to be improved upon with our stay here - everything was so cozy and perfect. Kids are aged 4-8 and the walk to the beach was incredibly simply and easy. They LOVED the waterproof Uno! The ONLY issue with our trip was that we didn't book it for longer :) Thank you so very much!

In May 2000, we were married at a local inn (you'll pass it on the way to the beach) and Union Pier has held a special place in our hearts ever since. Nineteen years and three sons later, we were fortunate to purchase this cottage and are happy to share with our guests. We hope you enjoy the cottage and the area as much as we do!
