About this property

Ptarmigan Suite @ Keystone Retreat

Summary:
Ptarmigan Suite @ Keystone Retreat is an beautifully appointed 1 Bedroom Suite located on the world famous Kenai River. This suite is a part of our family legacy home site and has been professionally designed and built to exclusively enjoy the amazing beauty year round along with world-renowned fishing. For larger groups, we have 4 units available on property and an additional 2 units across the street.

The Kenai River is the most popular sport fishing destination in Alaska. Each year there are two runs each of king salmon, coho salmon, sockeye salmon, plus a run of pink salmon every other year. The world record king salmon, which weighed about 44 kg (97 lb), was caught in the Kenai River in 1985. The Kenai is also the home of trophy size rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Occasionally there will be reports of catching of "Steelhead"(Sea-run Trout). In recent years, the king salmon fishery has been closed or heavily restricted due to low returns of fish. The Coho salmon runs occur in early August and early October. The September run is favored by local anglers due to the larger size of the silver salmon. The sockeye salmon runs are in late-June and mid-July-August. Sockeyes are considered the premier salmon for eating, canning, and smoking.

Property amenities include:
Boat launch nearby
Access to private dock for relaxing and fishing.
Commercial fish packer
Freezers
Ice
Card operated laundry facility

The Space:
Ptarmigan Suite is a beautifully organized second story apartment that comes complete with heated floors throughout. The unit has a separate entryway, bedroom, bathroom and living area complete with a large south facing deck that overlooks the Kenai river as well as the entire property. The unit also includes a modern washer and dryer ensuite for your use along with an on demand hot water heater means you never run out of hot water. The kitchenette has a gas range, microwave, coffee machine and cooking utensils for your use. Deck has private BBQ grill. The bedroom has a Queen size bed with premium mattress and the sofa in the living area makes into a queen sofa bed. A Smart TV is available with access to free movies and news as well you can login using your Netflix or other On-demand services for viewing your favorite programs.

Guest Access:
There is free parking onsite as well as additional parking area across the street for guests or boat trailers. You will receive a unique code for logging into the keypad on your unit when you register. This code gives you access to the laundry, ice and fish packaging equipment located in separate building on the property.

The Neighborhood:
This suite is a part of our larger family owned legacy property, we have personally owned and developed this property over the past 20 years. There is a newly upgraded boat landing up river approximately 100 yards along with two public river accesses on Keystone Drive that are within walking distance and complete with walk ways and fish cleaning tables.

The city of Soldotna is just 5 miles up the road which includes a Fred Meyer store along with many other services both for the sportsman and general shopping supplies.

Getting Around:
While we presume you'll be driving to our destination there are all means of commercial transportation including a commercial airport in Kenai 25 miles away. The best part is there are several airplane operators that can bring you to more remote settings for bear watching, fishing, and site seeing.

Perfect Stay- look no further!
Perfect stay at the Keystone Retreat! We have stayed in a several places in Alaska and this is now our favorite! What a view.... we stayed in the Ptarmigan Suite and it was amazing! The hosts, Sandi and Mark have thought of everything with great attention to detail- comfortable bed with hotel linens, access to private dock, professional fish packer, ice and storage for your big catch, snacks, and good coffee. Sandi was a wealth of information of the area and fishing. So happy we met you both. We will be back!

Description doesn't do it justice
Wow!!!! Really didn't know what to expect but the accommodations were outstanding. To have the added pluses of being right on the river, with a great view, grill, pier on the river and ice house made it a spectacular stay.,
