Very nice location just a short walk to Lake Michigan and Portage lake. We especially enjoyed the big sandy beach on Lake Michigan and did not find the need to go to the smaller lake. Spacious home provided enough space for private time as well as family. We enjoyed the sunsets at the overlook. Thanks for the wonderful vacation!
This home has a nostalgic "Up North" feel about it. It was spacious with plenty of areas for our family to gather but also to escape. We loved the "nooks and crannies." The bench platform overlooking the dunes and Lake Michigan was a perfect spot for relaxing and watching the sun set after a day on the beach, which was just a few minutes' walk away. Everyone loved it. Onekama is a rather sleepy little town with a small grocery, ice cream shop, and thrift shops. A sweet place. The property manager was very kind and responsive. Thank you!
We enjoyed our time!
The deck is awesome and the view of Lake Michigan in the back is amazing. We trailored our boat up and conveniently rented a boat slip at Portage Point Resort so were able to uses both lakes. We also were at the beach every day.
The house is set with the basics and we were so glad to be able to bring our dog!
My family has been coming to Onekama for years and years. We have rented many homes in the area. This house is now one of our favorites! There is plenty of room for a large family! The home was very clean upon check in. Our first night it was incredibly hot and humid. Thank goodness for fans!! The property manager was simply amazing to work with! We will definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful visit to Portage Lake. The cottage was spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for our family of 5. The deck is amazing and there is a walkway through the woods to a deck for sunset views on Lake Michigan. The 4 stars for cleanliness were only because the screen door was ripped when we arrived.
All of us (5 adults and 2 children) had a great time at the "Up North cottage". The house was comfortable and wonderful! We very much enjoyed the large outdoor deck where we ate our meals and just relaxed. Loved the proximity to the both Portage Lake and Lake Michigan. Jeff was very attentive to our questions and was a great source of recommendations for the area. All in all, we had a great vacation!
We can’t say enough good things about this property and this little corner of Michigan. The house was even better than expected - lots of personality but in a good way. Old-school vacation house vibe (not fancy, but everything you need) within quick walking distance to two lakefront areas and the portage point resort (marina, ice cream, drinks, pizza). We were two families - four adults and four kids, ages 6, 4 and 2. Some things to point out: upstairs master bed is huge and has an extra little nook that we used for pack and play. The deck is awesome with views of Portage Lake. Lots of yard area for kids to play in. And stairs jn back lead to a wooded overlook platform to watch the sunsets. The two other upstairs bedrooms share one entrance to the hallway. This was perfect for us, but good to know! My husband wanted me to add that fishing was great. Overall amazing!
