About this property

Top of the Pass with beautiful mountain views

This is a 4 bedroom 1 1/2 bath family rental sleeps 4 non smoking craftsman style house with mountain views close to many activities and only 5 miles to closest ski area and many others ski areas are within easy driving distance. Hunter Mountain is 5 miles, Windham is less than 15 miles, Belleayre and Catamount are about 30 miles. North Lake state park is just minutes away and you can hike to a 200 Ft. Waterfall. The highest in NY. You can also hike to the mountains, walk to the general store or church. There is so much to do in the great outdoors.
This is an old house not a 5 star hotel. Its clean and comfortable in a convince location. Much work has been done with much more to be done. The roof was completed and now more interior painting and repairs are being completed. I enjoy sharing this house with guests and traveler's. Please leave the house to as close as you found it when checking out. It's always getting better so come and enjoy the mountains.

Girls weekend

An annual girls weekend that looked like it wasn't going to happen, was able to be carried out with a smaller crew at this cute little house. There was plenty of room for all of us, and the house had tons of charm. It's on the main road, but close to everything. The area is BEAUTIFUL! The kitchen left some to be desired, but we knew about the broken oven ahead of time, so planned for that. The only complaint was the toilet in the downstairs bathroom was not working. I texted the owner, and expected a return text. Instead I found once I got home that he replied via VRBO. This was a known issue, and was supposedly easily fixed. I wish there was a note left to tell us what to do. All in all, a great trip for all. I'd definitely rent the home again.

We enjoyed the space the rental allowed us. Could have used more televisions but not such a big deal for us. Peaceful for the most part despite being on a main route. Would definitely rent again.

Perfect getaway location!

Stayed here over Labor Day with my kids. The house is perfectly located within walking distance to Kaaterskill falls and about 2.5 miles to North-South Lake. Mike was great to communicate with. House is rommier than expected. Lots of charm. Will look to stay here again.

Nice House, Nice Owner

Very spacious, nicely set up, several rooms and beds. Initial issue with heat being off was resolved, hands-on by owner. And warm and nice thereafter, for the days thereafter. If you're planning any kinds of outings in the area around Catskills, Woodstock, Saugerties... its a good rental! We planned a Covid-sheltered thanksgiving in the area, and it worked out nicely. There's also plenty of tv/streaming options if weather is poor, and an eat-in kitchen as well as a large dining room space for larger groups if you desire. Haines Falls is fairly close by, a pretty waterfall. I recommend this rental, Mike is very responsive to emailed questions and any issues.

Stow top and refrigerator were not clean and burners hard to ignite. Bath tub should be cleaned as well. Otherwise pretty cozy and spacious place.

Great for a ski weekend

The heat worked very well for our weekend. It is to be noted that there are many post it notes around the house with little thoughts on them. It would be worthwhile to post them in the listing. A larger garbage can inside and outside would do it well too. But overall this is a great place to stay for the price.

Nightmare experience.

Communication: owner not reachable, no check-in information provided. Owner service: owner did not prepare the house for our arrival (inaccessible entrance with 3 feet of snow and no shovel provided , no parking spot, house was freezing, no heating, no light, power was out) Experience: after trying to contact the owner the whole day of the check- in without any response and with no help provided by homeaway, we were forced to find an alternative accommodation at midnight . This experience was a nightmare; we were stuck without a place to sleep, on a cold night and the owner couldn't care less about our well being. Homeaway: you can't trust this company, they have useless customer service and offer no assurance that our money would be refunded. Homeaway is unreliable, misleading and unresponsive. This is the first and last time I use homeaway.

Just Perfect

This home was perfect for our needs. It was absolutely cozy, as described, clean and had cute decor. The queen bed was extremely comfortable, the mattresses on the bunk beds were adequate but not plush. Very conveniently located to local attractions. The owner gave very helpful information, which helped make our stay easy and enjoyable.

I grew up in New Jersey where I still live for now. Skiing and most winter sports along with racing are my passions. Sharing my house in the mountains with people to enjoy makes it all the better.

Why they chose this property

The house is old and has some character. It has been a work in progress and gets better every year. I like to restore old houses and thou this house still needs work its clean and comfortable. The roof has just been completed, front porch painted, more interior work can begin noe. Very close to the Kattaskill falls and hiking trails and ski trails.
