Beautiful, modern property. Well-kept in a peaceful area. The pool and hot tub were nicely maintained, and a real highlight of our holiday. The host was very friendly as well and communication was good. I felt there could be some better descriptions on the Vrbo site about how bed linen and towels work (chargeable extras) but otherwise it was a wonderful holiday in a lovely location and we would not hesitate to return.

We felt we were treated harshly by the owner after a fine was imposed on us. Yes we left some clean dishes in the dishwasher but the other challenges from the owner I felt were unfair. We stayed for 4 days and had two leaking air con units. This disrupted our sleep. Despite contact we had no response. The pool wasn’t entirely clean when we arrived and that was admitted by the owner. However it was hot and the kids were desperate to get in. The owner complained about the states of the hot tub. The fact is that it was just extensively used for a few days and hence wasn’t as clean as before. She also suggested the bathroom was unclean. To be honest this is what I thought a cleaning fee was for. Overall we actually enjoyed our stay but the late check in (which is typical in France from my experience) of 5pm feels like you lose a couple of hours on your first day. The pool was refreshing and the hot tub was a bonus. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked. Location wise, it’s about 10 min drive into Saumur, which is a lovely town. Unfortunately the vineyard tour times didn’t work for us which was a shame. There are other lovely places to visit nearby. I’ve stayed in a lot of rental type accommodation and this was the first complaint I’d received which is disappointing. I appreciate there’s a difference of view but imposing a fine felt all kinds of unfair.
