The property is as described. However, if you are looking for something "fancy." Then keep scrolling. This place is for those who want to truly experience the RMNP. Its a quaint family cabin. PERFECT for my wife and I. Our party was only two, but the house will accommodate more. Very comfortable living room with large windows overlooking the park. When I say overlooking the park, I mean your view shed is bookended with The Twin Sisters peak on the left and Deer Mountain to the right. In the center, Longs Peak, in all its glory. You do see other houses but you are not right on top of each other as the lot is large. On the property you will see deer, elk, a billon chipmunks, maybe a bear, humming bird, birds that will land on your hand...and bobcats. My wife and I saw (on property) all but the bear.We will definitely stay here again!

Amazing place to stay

My friends and I had an amazing time at Estes Park, and it is largely thanks to the hosts that were kind enough to let us stay at this property. The recommendations for food and hiking were the most useful to us throughout the week as visitors! The grill was used twice to make burgers, and the views were absolutely stunning. While hanging out on the deck, we were able to see mule deer and elk close to the house! We played chess and checkers almost every night since they have a little wall of games and puzzles. If I ever visit Estes Park again, I hope this property is available!

Beautiful setting

We had a wonderful stay with our family. The setting is lovely with a view of the front range from the deck, dining and living area. There were plenty of beds and linens for all 8 of us. It needs updating to receive a 5 star rating.

Great location, perfect cabin feel yet near town

We really enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed to cook meals, it was so nice to have a good gathering space for family, the proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park was fantastic, and downtown Estes Park was great too. The mountain views were phenomenal and the wildlife was really fun to watch. It was a bit difficult to cool the house down on hot days, but I think we picked a really hot week to go. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Will recommend to friends and family.

Stay at Estes Park

We really enjoy staying at On the Rocks at Estes Park. Aaron was very helpful throughout the stay providing detailed directions and info. The view in the morning while having breakfast is just amazing. We are avid hikers and the fact that the Rocky Mountain ranger station was just 6-7 minutes away was really helpful for the adult kids to maximize their sleep. All the amenities were great. Thanks a lot, Aaron.

Christmas in the mountains

Our family of 10 has celebrated Christmas together for the past 10 years at House on the Rocks. The house is very comfortable for all of us, feels like home, and the view of the mountains is spectacular. The Acela family are great hosts, very attentive and accommodating to our needs. We highly recommend their house as a vacation destination in Estes Park.

Family Spring Break

We stayed as a family at the Cabin on the Rocks over spring break 2022 and every single member of my family enjoyed everything the well stocked cabin had to offer from the spaciousness right down to the high quality towels everyone had only good things to say about our weeklong stay. I myself thought it was a wonderful place for a family to stay and enjoy everything the area has to offer . I hope we can return sometime soon to this beautiful, well kept home . A great spot in EP!

I look for a house with a Longs Peak view and this home was great with it’s fabulously big deck. Our host reminded us to lock the top on the trashcan because neighbors said there had been bears in the neighborhood. To our delight, 3 days later there were 2 juvenile bears wrestling in the yard and crossing the driveway. The first sighting ever in Estes Park, and although it was early in the season we saw and heard a bull elk bugling which we love. I haven’t mentioned that the home was perfect for our family. The 4 bedrooms gave us privacy but also large gathering spaces. A very clean and well kept home. We thoroughly enjoyed your home and our stay! Thank you for hosting us.

Amazing stay at Estes Park!!

We had 2 families from out of town come to enjoy this house for a week. The house is perfectly sized for 2 families with kids. It was well stocked with everything we could need! The views from the porch and the windows were amazing!! We had lots of animal visitors which the kids loved. The house is super close to the park, groceries, restaurants and downtown. The location was absolutely perfect. The owners were wonderful and communicated well through the whole trip and booking. I cannot recommend this house enough for you RMNP and Estes Park vacation!!

Beautiful and convenient to national park

This was a beautiful and clean house. The views were amazing - the photos online don't do it justice. Really incredible. We did a lot of long hikes starting early in the morning. Then we returned to the house and relaxed and rested weary feet in the afternoons watching the "summer monsoons" pass across the peaks which was pretty magical. The location was perfect - just minutes from one of the park entrance station which made it easier on those early morning "timed entry" passes. There is a small grocery store just down the hill too, so it was easy to pick up supplies and cook our own meals and buy hiking food for our daypacks. We loved this place and would definitely recommend it. Communication with the owners was very clear and easy.

Great location and place

This place was great for my friends and I. We stayed here for spring break so that we could hit a lot of trails. This place was only 15-20 min from a lot of the trail heads within the Rocky Mountain National Park. Ran into no issues with the place. Only weird thing, which was trivial, was the link between the TVs in the bedrooms. My friend and I turned on our tv in one room and it also turned on the tv in the room where another one of my friends was sleeping. I then went in and turned that tv off but my friend who was sleeping later came in and said that his tv was back on.

Beautiful View, Plenty of Wildlife

The "On The Rocks" estate is a cabin built in the 90s, and it certainly looks the part. But don't let that deter you! This property is wonderfully clean, charmingly decorated, and spacey enough to house a small army. This cabin has a perfect view of the mountains toward the South Side of the park, and you'll see plenty of wildlife wandering through the yard during your stay. It's a breezy 5 minute drive from the cabin to the park entrance. The hosts are very friendly and communicative - we really appreciated all of their helpful tips, activity suggestions, and comprehensive cabin instructions! The heating and cooling are a little fickle, as the air is released via baseboard radiators that are scattered around the cabin, but once we got used to it, we were able to properly control the temperature. I highly recommend!

Beautiful location

The location was wonderful (close to RMNP and Estes Park) and the property was clean. The property had everything that we needed. The owner was prompt in all communication and responses to questions. I most enjoyed the views from the living and dining room. I rated it 4 stars for 2 reasons. We arrived on Monday Jan 1 and the 2 extra large trash cans in the garage were overflowing with trash from the previous occupants. By Tuesday the trash odor could be smelled in the bottom level of the home and continued until trash pick up on Thursday. The owners communicated that we were responsible for taking the trashcans to the curb for trash pick up. I asked about the overflowing trash cans and the owners requested that we do our best to close the trashcans so that the animals would not get into the trash (if they did we would be assessed a fine). I don't mind dealing with my own trash but I do not like having to handle and be responsible for other people's trash. The previous occupants left patio furniture outside on the deck (the house instructions say to move all of the patio furniture into the enclosed porch). We did not use or move any of the patio furniture. When I asked about leaving the patio furniture as it was when we arrived, I was told that it needed to be moved to the enclosed porch. I did not like having to be responsible for the previous occupants' failure to comply with the house rules.

Spectacular views, lots of space, but with a few concerns

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in late October. We enjoyed our stay, but it could have been better with some improvements. PROS: *Spectacular scenery, with a wall of windows facing the mountains with unobstructed views. *Owners very easy to deal with. *Cabin is located close to Rocky Mountain National Park entrance, in quiet neighborhood. *Easy to get to town for shops or dining. *Easy access to gain entry to cabin. *Rooms are spacious. *Refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, washer and dryer performed very well. *Thermostats in every room made it easy to be comfortable. *Nice gas grill on the deck for cooking. *Single car garage available for parking our car. *Large dining room table for meals and games. *Nice storage cabinets in upstairs bathroom. *Abundant kitchenware for cooking and eating. *Paved ramp to bring wheeled suitcases and cooler from driveway (lower area) around house to upper level front door. *Spacious deck with picnic table and plastic deck furniture. *Surprise laundry chute under upper level bathroom sink that channels laundry into entry closet on lower level. *Sufficient starter supplies, including laundry detergent, dish detergent, dishwasher tablets, pump hand soaps, paper towels, toilet paper, and trash bags. *Pinball machine in one bedroom was fun, for 50 cents per game. *Room darkening drapes in one upstairs bedroom. *Reduced rate during off-peak time. CONCERNS: *Couches in living room were uncomfortable and dated. *Upstairs beds, except for pillowtop in front bedroom, were not comfortable. They have sheets that don't stay put on the bed. Mattress pads were noisy and shift when moving in bed. Not sure about lower level bedrooms, since we slept upstairs. *Chairs in dining room were hard (no pads) and not comfortable for sitting very long. *Recliners in upstairs bedrooms were dated and not comfortable. *One set of mini blinds in dining room did not function properly. *Heat was provided by hot water circulating through pipes, which were sometimes noisy. *Kitchen sink cold water pressure extremely low, and hot water came out scalding. *Unfamiliar house noises at night, probably due to heating system. *No night lights on upper level, so was extremely dark at night. When we go to Estes Park, we enjoy spending time in the cabin that we rent, reading or playing games. We don't go hiking every day. Perhaps for those who spend less time in the cabin, the comfort issues we listed would not be as much of a concern.

Our family stayed a week at this wonderful home that’s close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The home is spacious and features stunning views of Long’s Peak. The rooms are big, the kitchen is well-equipped for cooking family meals, the deck is great. Everything was clean and worked well. The home owners communicated clearly and were very nice to deal with. Our family would stay again in a heartbeat. We were comfortable and happy. The only sad part was having to leave!

My Wife, Father and I purchased our home in Estes Park in October of 2000. My father had traveled to Colorado many times with his parents as a kid. When he shared the mountain experience with me for the first time I knew I would always come back. We chose Estes Park as the people here are great and the atmosphere in town is very warm and inviting. In the spring there is lush green and wildflowers. Summer offers beautiful scenery and cool mountain air. Fall abounds with golden aspen and wildlife to include elk, deer, rabbit and even the occasional bear. Winters are mild and there is even downhill skiing and snow boarding within an hours drive. With just five minutes to downtown Estes or the entrance to RMNP we knew this was home.

Why they chose this property

Our family enjoys sitting on the deck and watching the clouds roll in over Longs Peak in the afternoon while our three daughters use grandpa’s binoculars searching the mountain sides and looking at the humming birds. The sky is so blue and the smell of pine trees in the air is relaxing while my wife enjoys a favorite book. Many evenings are spent grilling on the deck and eating as a family at the picnic table. Many nights are spent talking and telling stories next to the fire in the living room and planning the next days hike around Estes or in Rocky Mountain National Park.

What makes this property unique

Breathtaking views of Longs Peak and the Continental Divide and herds of elk and deer in the yard, along with the quiet secluded area and large moss rock fireplace are a few of the unique features of our cabin.
