The location was awesome, the kids had fun feeding the peacocks, the place was charming, and the washer and dryer was awesome to use. Our only complaint was the water smelt like sulfur, and the couch in the living room was very uncomfortable.
The house was beautiful and family friendly. Location was amazing. A short walk from the fountain of youth and the old jail and about a 2 mile walk or so from the fort.
The house was clean and exactly the size we needed. It was great to be able to walk to downtown St. Augustine with how busy it was. The kitchen had everything we needed, and comfortable beds. The family room couch was a bit uncomfortable but we made it work.
This house was the perfect location for a trip to St. Augustine. It’s an easy walk to the must see places including Magnolia Avenue which we walked up and down every day we were there. It was very peaceful and quiet the perfect place to get away.
We booked last minute for a quick weekend trip and it was perfect. The location was great, the kids LOVED having their own space to play in the backyard and we loved seeing all the peacocks during our stay. We will be back.
The property was wonderfully located and very clean. It was in a beautiful area right near the Fountain of youth so we had peacocks in our yard every day! My only criticism would be that the furnishings were lacking, especially in the Living Room. After a long day of Sightseeing and walking, we would have love comfortable furniture to sink into. Also, perhaps a Master Suite up and one down for couples like us who would like their own bathroom. Put the kids room upstairs. All in all, it was a good experience. The backyard is adorable!
The Magnolia House was perfect for our family. Located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the historic district and with easy access to the beach. The house is nicely designed and the Kids Cabana and yard were a huge hit!
Such a wonderful property! We had such a great weekend and felt so comfortable in the Magnolia House. Very clean and the beds were very comfy. Walking distance to the restaurants and shops. Def would recommend!
Magnolia House was a weekend getaway for my family and I plus our fur baby. The home is lovely nestled on a quiet road frequently visited by the local peacocks. We all enjoyed the location which is just minutes from the Fountain of Youth and the trolley depots.
Thank you so much for offering your home to visit this amazing city.
This home was very spacious and comfortable for six. Our grandchildren enjoyed the backyard too. Wished we were able to enjoy the fireplace. The peacocks were a + to watch. We came for Nights of Lights and loved walking thru all the colorful buildings and park. Only negative thing was that we couldn't stay longer.
There were three old college friends enjoying this trip. We have been friends for over 50 years. The house fit our needs fine. We enjoyed the peacocks in the front of our house. We even saw a white peacock. The location was great. We could walk to the Fountain of Youth. We enjoyed the trolley. We left the TV unplugged because when we shut it off it was talking talking out we could not understand what they were saying. We had a great time.
Property very clean. This house is like a cottage -- spare, minimal furnishings, and not very comfortable. Photos misrepresent the house as a warm, cosy place -- which it is not. Very few amenities -- no tissues, no kitchen spices, no serving dishes, no dish soap, etc. We were very surprised, but adapted and enjoyed our stay.
Our family of 5 stayed for 2 nights during the Night of Lights. The neighborhood is right off the picturesque Magnolia Avenue, and is nice and quiet. It is an easy walk to the fort and city…about a mile or so. The backyard is draped with moss covered oak trees and has a fun little kids cabana, hammock, and space to run and play. With 3 small kids (8 and under), space to play is very important. Upon check-in, a whole group of peacocks walked up to greet us. It was like a fairy tale!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Kids bedroom downstairs was our favorite. Our only critique is to wear your shoes in the home because your feet or socks will get dirty pretty quickly. All other surfaces seemed clean and orderly otherwise.
So much fun, and we hope to be back next year. Thank you!!
Wow... We absolutely loved this house, and we are already planning our next vacation to St. Augustine and plan on staying here. The house was perfect in every way. The location was spot on, as we walked many times to the downtown area for shopping and exploring. We loved going to the Fountain of Juice ( the coffee shop) outside of the Fountain of Youth for amazing coffee and juices. It was so amazing to enjoy coffee on the front porch and watch the peacocks come into the yard. We loved how quiet the neighborhood was and the next-door neighbors were super friendly. Highly recommend it if you are looking to relax and enjoy an amazing coastal town. The only words of wisdom, as it is mentioned in the listing, the parking is tight. I had no issue with our Toyota Sienna, but anything bigger would be a little challenging, but not impossible. Lastly, the owner was very awesome to work with, I sent him a few messages and he responded very quickly We will be back.
Extra bonus the first morning with gorgeous Peacocks in the front yard
We have just returned from our trip to St. Augustine and the beautiful Magnolia House. It was the perfect choice for our stay. Originally my husband and I were going to be traveling with our daughter her husband and their 2 children. I was so excited that the grandchildren would get to enjoy the playhouse in the back yard but unfortunately they had to cancel at the last minute due to family illness. This would have been the perfect place for all of us. My husband and I decided to continue with our plans anyway and took my sister and brother-in-law. Although we didn’t use the playhouse or small putting green in the backyard, we all were amazed at the cleanliness and roominess we had with Magnolia House. We loved sitting on the shady front porch in the most comfortable rocking chairs. The location was in a quiet neighborhood and very close to the historic district. We even had an extra bonus the first morning with gorgeous peacocks in the front yard. Thank you Greg for sharing your beautiful home and we will definitely visit again.
I was looking for a place to stay in St Augustine, where I was planning to spend my 60th birthday week, and came across this property. After viewing the photos and reading the description, I was smitten!! Of course, one sometimes wonders if something is "too good to be true" - in this case, it couldn't be more spot-on!
We arrived after midnight following a very long day of travel and, of course, had to check everything out. We were both like kids in a candy store going from one room to the next, ooh-ing and aah-ing and giggling with glee! Quickly heading to bed, we woke the next morning to view the exterior of the property which confirmed our initial inspection, with the added treat of 2 peacocks perched on top of the fence to greet us! At first we were wondering, however, as to the reason for the screen "window" cut out of the fence but found it was to view the Fountain of Youth, literally next door - a must-visit as the blacksmith and "2 Dan's" who demonstrated the cannons were highly entertaining!
We hopped in the car to pick up some groceries at the nearby Publix and saw how close the beach was, returning later to relax with the sun and surf. Nearby St George Street allowed for a day of shopping, ice cream and a bite to eat (we do dessert first!) - the location of the property and all that it offered was mere minutes away, proving Magnolia House to be the absolute perfect property in the perfect location - I will be singing its praises for years to come!
Pros:
- Location is fantastic. Just a short walk to historic area, restaurants, shops, tourist sites, etc. The neighborhood is beautiful, quiet and felt safe. Our kids loved the peacocks that came to visit! You are right next to the Fountain of Youth, however you will hear the cannons going off every hour or so during the day.
- The backyard is great. Very kid friendly with lots of space to play. The neighbors cat would visit the yard quite often.
- Kitchen was well supplied for cooking.
- New washer/dryer was very convenient!
- Host was very responsive and pleasant to communicate with.
Cons
- Living room furniture is extremely uncomfortable. So much so that we ended up cutting our trip short because there was just nowhere comfortable or cozy to sit as a family. The couch is very hard (it pulls out which is a plus if you need an extra bed)…but other than that there are only plastic dining chairs to sit on. Or the floor.
- The bathrooms need some attention. Cracked and peeling grout and peeling paint on the shower and tub surfaces. The mat inside the tub had some kind of brown mildew on it.
- No extra blankets or sheets. A cozy throw blanket for the couch would go a long way.
We were so excited for our month-long stay here but were definitely left a bit disappointed. I think with more comfortable furniture and bathroom repairs this would be a 5-star property.
I would like to say this charming little get away was just perfect for our family! It was located close to the historic downtown area, we walked with no problem. It was very clean and neat. It was supplied with the essentials you would expect. Our favorite part was sitting on the porch under the beautiful old oak and watching the peacocks visit! Sweet and charming area! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable place that is in a great area!
We came to town for a family wedding.
The house was a perfect match for a multigenerational group and a perfect location. Clean and cozy.

I grew up surfing in St. Augustine and moved away to Hawai'i for college, where I've lived for many years. Hawaii taught me to appreciate the significance of the place one is originally from. Magnolia House is a way to reconnect with my roots, and I am delighted to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
