Amazing Peaceful Weekend

The listing had it spot on! I booked to have a romantic weekend with my girlfriend. It did not disappoint! It was private with great amenities and a spectacular view of trees, birds and sky.

Best Stay Ever

You’re not going to find a better place for two in Big Bear. The hosts are welcoming, super responsive, and excellent at getting all the details right. The cabin is immaculate and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. It’s secluded and very quiet, perfect for a romantic getaway. The hot tub was clean and extra relaxing. Location is close to everything Big Bear offers. We highly recommend “R” Hidden Gem!

A little piece of Heaven

Chuck and Verla were awesome hosts. They personalized the cabin which made feel even more homey than it already felt. It was the perfect weekend getaway. It allowed us to relax and enjoy all the beauty around us. We will definitely be returning again soon.

Chuck & Verla’s Hidden Gem was amazing, adorable, and picture perfect. Spic n span clean, everything you could need, home away from home, and perfectly snuggled in beautiful Big Bear mountain. June Gloom Getaway

It was a lovely drive from San Diego to Big Bear to get out of the fog and into the clear fresh air of Big Bear. The house was clean and well organized. It had everything you would need for an overnight to a week long stay. The location was perfect for going into town, walking around the lake or just relaxing at the house .

We stayed two nights and if I could give it 10 stars I would. Chuck and Verla are the nicest couple with the cutest place. New, EXTREMELY CLEAN (cleanest place we've stayed in 25 years of rentals). So many extra amenities and comforts for your stay. If you hate "noisy places" from fans and A/C's, etc, book this hidden gem, all the things on the inside and outside are quiet! I hope we return, but book it and enjoy!

This is nothing shy of a “hidden gem!” It is quiet, private, and secluded, but it’s also conveniently located and minutes from the lake, village, slopes. It’s a perfect rental that feels like home away from home! Chuck & Verla thought of so many special details with photos of us & our dog, and she brought us the most delicious, warm cinnamon roll the morning of our departure. We’re excited to return during the summer to enjoy all this beautiful place has to offer!!

Perfect Getaway

“R” Hidden Gem is the perfect couples getaway cabin. Just off the main road, the cabin sits nestled at the base of a little hill ensuring privacy and stillness, minus the sounds of nature 😁 The property was modern, yet had the rustic feel of an old cabin in the woods. The perfect amount of amenities to make your meals throughout the day, but close enough to the village to easily go and grab a bite to eat. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. Definitely made us feel at home like family and less like guests. Highly recommend this property to anyone or couple looking for a peaceful and romantic getaway close to nature.

The Perfect Romantic Hideaway

Beautiful, cozy, private, and well accommodated. Easily the best vacation experience I've ever had. Chuck and Verla were an absolute delight to meet and ensured our stay was just perfect all around. Romantic Getaway & Relaxation!

Would give the property AND the Hosts 10 STAR if allowed! This was our first time to Big Bear and our first time not staying in a hotel! Chuck and Verla go the extra mile by adding personal touches to the home and having so many options to choose from. 10 Star experience

First off, I definitely have to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Verla & Chuck! Your hospitality and wonderful spirit are definitely felt as soon as you meet them. It is seldom that you meet people that just express such a thoughtful and down to earth spirit! Thank you for all the extra touches, Verla, to make this such a special birthday weekend! The cabin was so cute and a perfect location 5 min away from lake and close to everything. The access to bikes that they offer was a great touch for those bike riders, as well as the jacuzzi that was a nice time to just relax outside. Cruz and I want to thank you both again for everything. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, and relaxing place to stay in Big Bear, then look no further. You will not regret booking with Chuck and Verla. First of all, let me say that the place is exactly how it looks like in all of the photos. It is immaculate, beautiful, and mesmerizing from the moment you park your car and walk up the path. We arrived around 6pm and all the lights were already lit around the whole property. It was pretty magical. It was like a model home with the perfect amenities and décor. It was definitely the perfect place to celebrate my wife's birthday and we couldn't have gotten any luckier to have booked with them. Their place sits on over an acre of land, so there's not really any close neighbors around. It has the perfect coverage for the patio, grill, daybed, and hot tub so you can enjoy whatever occasion you are celebrating in peace. It's very romantic and private. The interior of the place is very cozy. Everything is clean and brand new. When Verla asks you if you can send a few photos for your stay so that she can personalize the cabin for your visit, do yourself a favor and send the photos. She thoughtfully decorated the cabin with cut out pics/collages of what we sent so we could enjoy the occasion. It just made us feel as if we'd known them for years and it wasn't our first time meeting. They go above and beyond to ensure your visit goes as planned. Don't believe me? Book with them and you'll see. Best place and amazing people in Big Bear!

From the moment we booked our stay to the moment we left, Chuck and Verla were such a pleasure to rent from! Upon booking, Verla asked for photos of my husband and I since we were celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival, not only did Chuck and Verla give us a tour and tell us how everything worked, Verla baked us fresh cookies! When we entered the property, it was completely decked out with our wedding photos and other decorations to celebrate our anniversary. The property was stunning. It was even better in person than the pictures (and that's saying a lot)! It was clean, cozy, quiet, and relaxing. It had everything we needed and more. The property was in close proximity to everything. Chuck and Verla were very attentive during our stay and checked up on us to see if we needed anything. On the morning of our departure, Verla offered to make us a cinnamon roll crockpot bake for breakfast. Unfortunately, we had to leave early but will definitely take her up on the offer next time. Do yourself a favor and stay here, you won't regret it! We will definitely be back, it would be extra beautiful around Christmas time. Thanks for everything Chuck and Verla, until we see you again!

A Magical Gem and Experience

We came to Big Bear to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and are so happy we chose to stay at “R” Hidden Gem. It was the best decision we could have made. Verla and Chuck were the most incredible hosts. They made our anniversary and stay uniquely special and thought of every single detail both indoors and outdoors from arrival to departure. Their kindness and generosity is unmatched and their place was so well-equipped and had everything you could think of and more. The location was walking distance to the lake to take in a mesmerizing sunset and we even rode their tandem bike around the lake which was great exercise and tons of fun! Chuck even offered to help us BBQ if we needed. The jacuzzi under the stars surrounded by Mother Nature was a relaxing way to end each day. A Magical Gem and Experience. We can’t wait to one day return. Thank you!!

perfect getaway

this was the perfect stay the location was picture perfect and the accommodations covered everything. the hosts were a pleasure to deal with. the amount of extra care they took to make sure we had a great stay was beyond words. they paid attention to every detail. it was almost like they knew you even though we never met. it was a great stay to say the least. will be back for sure.

This location is in a fun and bustling area, close to the main hub of the lake (Bike pedal path). You can hike, bike, or fish along the lakeside while you gaze at wildlife and views that will take your breath away. Two ski resorts are visible along with spectacular views of the mountain vistas and clear blue skies. It’s a fun place to meet other visitors or simply put on your headphones, set your playlist and ride or stroll to your tunes. You will truly enjoy this in the morning especially if you’re an early riser and desire peace and solitude.
