Scenic and recharging retreat

First of all, should out to Norman and Linda for the wonderful hospitality. The house sits in a beautiful breathtaking part of Big Bear. It was everything we wanted and needed. Looking forward to staying here in the future.

Unbelievable value

My daughter and I hosted a brand photo shoot for our wedding planning and design business that also served as a girls trip. The property was perfect! From the white glove service welcome (the owners brought wine and flowers and did a walk through for us) to the unbelievably perfect views this house and stay was amazing. Enough space for 5 women to be social and find some quiet time alone. Love love love!

Lovely Girls' Weekend

The location could not have been more perfect - gorgeous views right on the lake! The hosts could not have been more accommodating or more kind - two very lovely people. It was my younger sister's birthday getaway, and they brought her flowers, card, and wine, and then followed up with a personalized, digital birthday birthday card featuring Donny Osmond :) We look forward to returning.

Nice Home in Great Location w/ Amazing Owners

My boyfriend (now fiance - we got engaged our last morning of the trip :)) and another couple stayed here on a Thursday - Saturday. It is an older home but very clean and well maintained, we loved that they had two patio's - one off the living room and another off the master. The master bathroom has a nice large jetted tub with a standing shower, there is also a nice washer and dryer if you are staying for longer than a few days. Heat works great and they have a nice wood burning living room fire place. Boulder Bay water levels are extremely depressing (not the owners fault, obviously) but parts of the lake are completely dried up. The views are still very pretty with the Mountains and all the boulders surround the house but not much water. The hot tub worked great and was super clean! The owners stopped by the evening we arrived (with a heads up) and dropped off a bottle of wine and some flowers, it was very sweet. We would 100% stay another weekend at their home!

Lovely house with fabulous views and unique setting

This home is a lovely 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with 2 decks both of which have fantastic lake views. It was perfect for our party of 4 adults and 1 dog. During our all-too-brief stay we spent the majority of our time on the deck enjoying the views and all of the activity on the lake. We were fortunate that there was adequate water in the lake (we understand it was still maybe 7 feet lower than its maximum height). The seating area on the main deck was perfect for eating outside. There was also a large dining table inside, ample comfortable seating in the living room area and a nice size kitchen (there was a Keurig coffee maker as well as a regular filter/drip coffeemaker!). Also: the beds were comfortable, there are blankets in the closets, ample towels and toilet paper. There's a washer & dryer which we did not have the chance to use. We got a brief tutorial from the owners on how to work the BBQ grill (we used it once and it worked fine) and the hot tub (which we did not use at all). The boulder landscaping (SO COOL!) around the house was completely unique to anything we'd seen before. There’s a quaint and dog-friendly downtown area nearby which has wonderful little shops and numerous eateries. There’s also a supermarket in the area. We would most definitely rent this property again.

So much potential but very disappointing

The house is in a very private, peaceful section of the lake. 2-3 miles to everything you need, downtown, etc. I also agree with other reviews that Linda and Norm couldn't be lovelier. They had just been in a car accident and still went out of their way to ensure we had a nice arrival and knew the layout of the house. However, my family and I had no idea the water levels were so low. The outdoor space facing the lake looks nothing like the pictures. The dream of being able to just walk out the back and paddleboard was non-existent. There is barely an inch or two of water, and the rest is just mud for hundreds of yards until you can get to the main part of the lake. I have 3 small children and went out of my way to get something lakefront so I wouldn't have to drive and lug our stuff around. However, after 2 failed attempts to get through the mud on paddleboards to deeper water we wound up having to load up the car, drive a few blocks down and sneak off of someone else's dock.I honestly was shocked nobody contacted me to warn me and see if we still wanted to rent the house, as why else rent a lake-front property if you can't get into the lake? I did see kayaks make it through the water way out to the lake, but if you paddle plan to get your feet stuck in mud as you will have to get off your board and walk half of the way. As for the house itself, agreed it's dated but the views and location would make it possible to overlook. Some simple tweaks would make it a better experience. For starters, there are no beach towels. You'd think they'd set it up for people who actually want to be active in the water. The outdoor space is really the gem of the house, and updating the old furniture would go a long way. Overall, the wind was sucked out of our sails the moment we saw the water levels. So despite trying to have a good attitude and just enjoy our vacation I can't say we weren't highly disappointed we weren't contacted about the fact that there is no lake right now at the lakefront home.

Wonderful Big Bear getaway

This was our 2nd year staying at this property. The views of the lake from the cabin cannot be beat. We love the quiet location, and it’s just a short walk to Boulder Beach. The owners Linda and Norman are so thoughtful and the cabin has everything we need for a great vacation. We cannot wait to come again.
