This 2 bedroom cottage, shaded by pine trees, has a large lawn sloping gently down to beautiful Summit Lake. Enjoy morning coffee (provided), bird watching and beautiful sunsets from the dock. Paddle or fish (poles and worms provided) in the 2 kayaks and canoe (provided), swim to or take a nap in the hammock. The large screened-in porch is a great place for relaxing, dining, and enjoying the view across the lake. Grill (charcoal provided), picnic outside, and toast s'mores around the fire pit (supplies and firewood included). WiFi is available as well as streaming to TV. The owners provide just about everything you will need for a relaxing vacation.
On the first floor is a great room with comfortable furniture (including a pullout sleeper for one) and a dining area with a small but well-equipped kitchen. The great room opens into the screened-in porch. The bathroom (shower only) is also on the first floor. On the second floor, the larger bedroom has a queen and twin bed, the second bedroom has a full bed.
Generous and good quality bedding, bath and beach towels are included. Cell phone service continues to improve in the area. A land line is provided for local calls only and a DVD player and TV are provided for movies or gaming.
The water supply for the cottage comes from the lake. Plenty of bottled water is provided for cooking and drinking. There is no AC, but the cottage is cool and shaded in the woods with breezes off the lake. Fans are provided for additional comfort.
Unplug and get reacquainted with yourself and your loved ones in this beautiful setting. Play board games or do puzzles (both provided) with the kids. Walk or jog the scenic 2 mile loop around the lake. Watch the sunsets and look at the stars. If you are a couple or family who wants to enjoy the Cooperstown area in a secluded, bucolic setting, this is the place for you!

About the host
Hosted by Barbara Jones
My husband John and I have owned our cottage for fifteen plus years. We have been renting our cottage on a limited basis for most of those years through a private realtor until this year- and take great pride in taking care of everything for your stay ourselves. We love the outdoors and especially enjoy being close to Cooperstown while we are at the lake. We live within an hour from the property in the western Catskills and are avid hikers, bicyclists, swimmers and kayakers.
Why they chose this property
The Cottage on Summit Lake is on a very private and quiet lake, while located within a half hour drive from Cooperstown or Oneonta. We provide nearly everything you will need for a wonderful visit and provide personal service for your stay.
