About this property

New 2 Bedroom Guest Cottage on Bass Lake - Paddleboard/Private Boat Ramp/Bikes

This Cozy 2 bedroom Bass Lake guest cottage was totally remodeled in 2021 and is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from Chicago. Only 12 minutes to Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee.
Cottage is located on the West side of Bass Lake behind the main house. Sleeps up to 6 guests with a queen bed in first bedroom and a bunkbed with full on top and bottom in second bedroom.
We offer multiple options to help make your stay even more enjoyable with the use of our children's and adult bikes, paddleboat, kayak/paddleboard combo, kayaks, 17 foot lily pad, bag game, disc golf, individual interlocking floating loungers and assortment of life jackets.

The cottage includes multiple Tv's, Wifi, linens, towels, blow dryer, fully stocked kitchen and many more personal touches! A perfect getaway for small families or a romantic weekend.

Private patio has a propane firepit, furniture set, picnic table and propane grill.

The lake is located approximately 175 feet down the gravel driveway across the road. You will have access to the pier, private boat ramp and lakefront firepit. Sit back and watch or participate in lake activities, sun and swim or fish from the pier. Perfect place to relax with friends and family!

If you are wanting a more secluded natural space we have a firepit on the back property that has beautiful, peaceful views surrounded by woods with plenty of yard space for lawn games. Or, just RELAX and take in nature at it's best!

Have a boat or jet-ski?? No problem! Bring your own boat or jet-ski and enjoy the private boat launch/ramp on property along with dock.

NEW for 2022! Will have a 12' x 24' patio over the water to Enjoy!

Bass Lake Information: Bass lake is approximately 1,350 acres with a 8.1 mile road going around the lake. Perfect for running, walking or ridding your bike!
Around the lake are 3 restaurants, marina, gas station, county beach, campground and convenience store. Feeling Adventurous.....head over to Culver (12 min. drive) and enjoy shopping, golfing, beach and restaurants.

PLEASE NOTE: This guest cottage is located behind main house which is owner occupied. Guest cottage has partial lake views and lakefront is shared with owners.

Fabulous!!!

The house was gorgeous had everything you could possibly want/need and more. The hosts, Rick and Deb, were awesome! They were very accommodating, there to help with anything you might need. Can't say enough about them and their home (also had anything you would want to enjoy water activities). Looking forward to going back again soon!!

Amazing Labor Day Weekend

Our family stayed here and had an absolute blast. Our needs were very well attended to by the Hoods to the point that it felt like a 5-star hotel with concierge service. Our family loved biking and walking along the road. Even though it was Labor day, the traffic near the beach was fairly minimal. I can only imagine it would be even less on non-holiday weekends. The two fire pits were all set for us to go with kindling and everything. They even provided all of the ingredients for Smore's. Beds were great, pool toys well stocked and the place was immaculate. I honestly can't speak any higher of the rental or the Hoods themselves. Thanks for the amazing getaway.

Lovely Weekend

We had such a nice time at the Bass Lake Guesthouse! Deb and Rick were so sweet and welcoming- you can tell they really take pride in their property and get joy out of sharing it with others. The kids were in heaven with all of the water toys, board games, air hockey, and fire pits! The lake is beautiful, not too crowded and surrounding area was great too! The weekend couldn’t have been more perfect!

I’m not sure where to even begin to express how pleased my husband & I were with our week stay here. We have stayed at many house/villa rentals & we both expressed many times throughout the trip that this place sets the bar for a place to rent. The care that is taken of the cottage/grounds & the attention to detail that Deb & Rick put into making this cottage & property as guest friendly & full of amenities as possible is amazing. The cottage decor is modern & everything in it has been well thought out with no corners cut, only perks added. The owners are also so friendly & easy to talk to that you feel like part of the family by the time you leave. The huge storage building behind the cottage was like a store itself, I felt like you could go shopping in there for whatever type of water toy you could ever imagine to use on the lake, plus bikes for all sizes, lawn games, indoor games, you name it. We barely made a dent in using anything in our week stay. The dock, chairs & firepit down by the water were in perfect condition as well & we loved being able to park a boat rental at the dock if needed. I can’t thank Deb & Rick enough for the hospitality that they showed us, we definitely hope to rent from them again in the future. Amanda & Tyler

Beautiful spot!

This is a terrific property, with a number of pool toys. Bass Lake was beautiful. The property was immaculate, and Deb and Rick, our hosts, were always asking if we needed anything. They were so sweet. We absolutely loved it, and we would give it 6 stars if we could. Highly recommend!

Best Vacation Ever!

We had an amazing vacation in this beautiful Bass Lake cottage. This rental exceeded all of our expectations. You can find everything you’ll need for a great vacation. The cottage is beautifully decorated with very comfy beds. A big basket with snacks, great tea, hot chocolate, and fixings for the s’mores was waiting for us when we arrived. The kitchen is fully stacked, it has great quality cook ware. The coffee maker makes regular filter coffee and keurig cup coffee as well. The scenery is very nice as well. Rick and Deb, the owners take very good care of the property, the flowers are amazingly pretty! They have kayaks, a lilly pad, great bikes(even a tandem bike) air hockey, corn hole, all kinds of floats even board games in case you’d be stuck inside. The lake is just steps from the cottage, very pretty and the water was just the perfect temperature to swim in it. We also loved biking around the lake. There are two fireplaces, one right next to the lake. Last night we enjoyed an amazing fireworks while we were sitting next to the lake enjoying the fire as well. Rick made sure the fireplace was ready to use every night. He also helped carry the kayaks to and from the lake. We couldnt’ have asked for a better vacation, would love to come back in the future! Great place and my family wants to come back!

Rick and Debbie have a wonderful place and greeted us as soon as we arrived. They take pride in their property and it shows! Everything was beautiful, comfortable, spotless, and homey! Lots to do if you get tired of fishing. But the guys in my family loved the fact they caught so many fish!!! We all would love to come back!!! This was a great vacation for us and appreciate the Hood’s for offering this option to enjoy Bass Lake and their little piece of heaven❤️

They have it all!!!!

We were looking for a fun activity filled Lake trip on our way back from Chicago to Cincinnati and this was it! There was a whole barn of lake toys for our entire family to enjoy as we lounged on the dock and water all day. We woke up rejuvenated and went to bed tired each night. The host family was on site and incredibly attentive to our every need. Richard takes pride in meticulously maintaining the property and you will never see so many beautiful flowers in all your life. Book it ASAP, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing Stay

From the beginning to the end, our stay was perfect! The hospitality of the owners was top notch. They have thought of everything when it comes to amenities! From the lily pad, floating loungers, paddle boards and paddle boat to the teas, chips, cookies and smores fixins for the fire! It was all there waiting for us! Our campfire was even set up waiting to be lit each night! We enjoyed many hours splashing in the lake and jumping off the dock! The perfect rental! You won't be disappointed!

Perfect Getaway

We spent 2 nights here with our kids and it was the perfect getaway! The cottage is immaculate and fully stocked with everything we needed and more. We had the perfect hosts who were so helpful and we all loved floating in the lake, riding bikes, and visiting the nearby restaurants. Even when it rained, we enjoyed playing the board games left in the cottage. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend!

Fabulous Place!

This was a fabulous place to stay! Everything was great. The cottage was stocked with everything you need. I have stayed at many places and this was the best so far. They provided the fixens for smores as there were two firepits available. They allow you to use all of the water sports equipment and bikes. They even had extra toothbrushes and toothpaste in case you forgot yours. I wish we had more time to enjoy all of the fun activities that were provided. We stayed to go to my son's graduation from Culver Military Academy. Debra and Rick are so nice and always made sure we had everything that we needed. I can't say enough about how wonderful the cottage is!! Just loved it!!

This place is a GEM 💎

This was an amazing peaceful, relaxing getaway! My husband was able to join me and was exactly what we both needed. The cottage is absolutely stunning in every aspect. And probably the cleanest place we have ever been to. Rick and Deb have outdone themselves with everything you could ever need or want to use!!! Did I mention they have an adjustable bed! It’s something we are used to but was not expecting to have this luxury at a VRBO. We will surely be back very soon. You will not be disappointed if you stay at this cottage. Thank you for being so accommodating and kind!!

Bass Lake Beauty

When you land here you find all the extra extras you can think of. Whatever you might need, you will find. These caring, thoughtful owners are so intuitive and kind. They have done an amazing job of making sure your stay is beautiful and peaceful. Although we were busy with family wedding festivities, there are lots of toys for fun activities. This is a comfortable, fun place to stay. You will love it!

Wonderful getaway at Bass Lake!

From the moment we arrived, Deb and Rick made us feel right at home! The cottage is absolutely adorable - wonderfully decorated and completely stocked with everything you might need. We weren't able to partake in any lake-related activities due to the cold weather, but the kayaks, paddleboards, lily pad, and other aquatic toys make this rental that much more of a great deal. The firepits (both at the back of the property and closer to the lake) made a cold October evening so cozy and lovely. It was the perfect long-weekend getaway for myself and my husband. I can't wait to plan our next trip in the spring!

Wonderful lake cottage

This Cottage was just as described if not nicer. It is perfectly appointed with all of the amenities needed for the lake experience. The hosts are very helpful and go out of their way in providing plenty of extras for your use while at the lake. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a lake property get away. It was very clear the owners take pride in providing a great home for people to stay in.

Wonderful stay on Bass Lake!

I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had renting this perfect cottage on Bass Lake. From the moment we rented, communication with Debra was excellent. Checking in could not have been easier, as the hosts, Debra and Rick, warmly welcomed us & showed us the property. The cottage is clean and well appointed, with anything you would need, not to mention the incredible amount of water toys, bikes, etc to enjoy. We could not have been happier and will certainly be back when visiting my son who attends Culver Academy. I would love to keep this little gem a secret - but kudos to Debra and Rick, well done & thanks for your hospitality!
