Unexpected but enjoyable

Overall our experience was good especially for the price. It was very clean. The people were nice. We did have a slight confusion on who was checking us in and which entrance we were to use this was all resolved quickly. Fortunately, we did need to get up early and get going. The street noise at 7am would have you out of bed regardless. The noise from the train wasn't an issue at all for us. Me and spouse would stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone passing through.

A nice small-town getaway

We enjoyed our overnight stay at The Franklin House. We came to bicycle the Mountain Goat Trail in Sewanee, and Cowan is very closeby. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the house was beautiful and inviting. Tom made us feel welcome, and the coffee and donuts for breakfast were delicious. This room does face the street where the railroad is nearby, but sleep masks and earplugs were made available.

This property is stunning! Full of beautiful artwork and gorgeous furniture! The property managers were extremely hospitable and went above and beyond our expectations. It was elegant, but still comfortable and functional. Less than a block from the quiet town’s restaurants, stores and shops, and the railroad museum, I will definitely stay here again!

This room is very clean, very quaint, in an old train station. The property is an art gallery/small inn and is pet friendly. The town of Cowan is in a beautiful location near the Cumberland Mountains and is very historic. It is very close to Sewanee and the University of the South as well as Tims Ford Lake and State Park. We look forward to returning!

I treat my guests as I would want to be treated. It's always great when satisfaction is mutual between host and guests. That's the perfect balance.

Beautiful unique stay

It was like walking into an art gallery (which it was). From the lobby to the backroom and the dining hall to the kitchen area, it was beautiful. The Gammon room we stayed at was also beautiful in how it was designed and presented. My daughter really enjoyed looking at the artwork created by Rachel. Checking in was a little rocky because of multiple entrances and no cell services, so arrange a meeting with the host to get the keys ahead of time. But it’s very minor and I’m sure it’ll be improved.
