About this property
The Garden Suite in this National Historic Landmark in the Village of Geneseo
Note: Despite any verbiage added by the listing website, or ads you may see, this is not a whole house. This is a 4-room apartment in the secluded south wing of the historic 1835 Hartford House overlooking our walled garden.
Your private entrance enters off the pool area. There are two bedrooms, a full bath and a kitchenette area. It sleeps three or four with our available rollaway bed. The unit does not have a stove but it has other kitchen appliances including refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a dining table.
Also on the property is the Genesee Volley Tennis and Croquet club so bring your racket and your tennis shoes to enjoy our Har Tru court. Croquet equipment supplied. After you book, contact us if you are interested in playing in either our club’s tennis or croquet leagues on week days.
We are within the Village of Geneseo, walking distance to downtown and SUNY Geneseo, and a short drive to Conesus lake or Letchworth State Park, or stay home and explore our 70 acre farm teeming with wild life. Pets welcome!
If you need more space there are an additional three units available listed as the Hartford House on this site. The large house is 15,000 ft.² so nobody gets “the whole house.“ (See VRBO # 2336515 to book the other three units or VRBO #2339466 to take all four, including the Garden Suite)
Those who take all four units get exclusive use of the pool area and the front veranda overlooking the Genesee Valley. If you take just this unit you may have to share the pool with other guests.
The property is also available for weddings and events from May to October, however, this unit is the only one that is available year-round. This is also the only unit that allows pets.

My wife and I loved our time in this hidden gem. The garden, feilds, and pool were an amazing oasis. The host was responsive and accomodating. The inside is so cozy, and the beds are amazing comfortable. Plus the location near Rochester gave us access to friends as well as things we wanted to do.
Food options are minimal, and the kitchenette doesn't have plates or cups, but as long as you bring the food you want you're all set to go!

My wife and I stayed here for our 4th wedding anniversary. Our first night there it rained pretty hard all night and we found out that the roof leaked and water was dripping incessantly through the bedroom ceiling and hitting the floor. We had to put a towel down to catch the water and stop the sound. Atleast it did not rain our second night so we could get some sleep at last. There was holes in the floor in the bedroom and bathroom. The wallpaper was ripped in every room. This was a very disappointing stay. It did not represent itselve well from the pictures online. It seemed to be very much so in disrepair. There was big pieces of wood screwed onto the celing and wall where someone just cut through to try to repair said leak and just slapped a patch on the wall and ceiling. I get it homes need repair at times but dont book a stay if the room is not ready.
