About the host
Hosted by Ray Turner
This property is on Pickering Passage of the Puget Sound, famed Walkers' Landing looking across the water at Harstene Island, the view is a constant changing drama unfolding on this body of water, named after a naturalist on a Wilkes expedition. Pickering Passage flows past the mouths of Hammersley Inlet, Totten Inlet, and Eld Inlet. It is a nutrient rich area, producing oysters that grow rapidly.
Come enjoy the view from the bank of Abbondanza, a property designed by artist Ray Turner, graduate of Stadium HS in Tacoma. You will also be able to enjoy the view from almost anywhere in the Captain's Cabin a cedar sided exterior, and wrapped in pine from floor to ceiling, featuring 34 glass windows and doors with views through each of them. The 1950's table and chairs in the breakfast nook, boast a great view, with a fully equipped Kitchen, retro style appliances, beautiful barn lights, antique fixtures, chandeliers. All the lights are on dimmers setting a romantic interior when the sun goes down late in the evening summer. The outdoor lighting sets a mood as well as guides you to the fire pit or railing to sit under the stars and look at the sound.
The bedding is all cotton, with a goose down comforter and all cotton quilts. The pillows are high quality goose down, with optional gel non allergenic pillows. There are decks off the kitchen and master bedroom, to enjoy the sunrise, sunset and all the wonder the passage has to offer. The natural stone staircase and gravel paths will take you to the wooden railed staircase access to the beach, where you can kayak, windsurf, paddle board, fish, whatever you like to do on the water. After your water sports, or walk along the gravel beach, go up take a hot outdoor shower, soak in the claw foot tub, take a sauna, or do all three. Abbondanza is difficult to describe, it has the wonder of the Puget Sound, it is quiet, peaceful, and will have an effect on you that will make you wish you could stay forever.

Why they chose this property
I bought and developed this because of the location and it's inherent beauty. It doesn't have a shopping center near by, nor a place to walk to a restaurant. Those accommodations are an easy drive, but what this place is, is quiet, peaceful, and remote. There are a small group of homes at the end of a road, with one way in and out. The trees are tall and old, I've also added many ornamental ones, and too many flowers and plants to count. Jasmine, clematis, and hydrangea, is climbing on all the structures, with hundreds of different flowers, that will be blooming from spring through the fall. The stars are brilliant on a clear night. I have said many times that it is magical, there have been many guests describe it the same way as well. If you're looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by trees on the puget sound with all of its wonder, this will become one of your favorite memories and places to stay.
