About this property
Indulge in an 1875 Romantic Cottage located on beautiful 18 acres!
Welcome to the cottage of the beautiful historic property - The Adelphia. Located in Lampasas, Texas, the cottage is part of the an estate built by John Markward in 1875. It is situated on 18 acres loaded with 300+ year old Oak Trees and beautiful Texas wildflowers. The cottage features two beautifully appointed bedrooms with100 year old antiques, a parlor room, and two bathrooms.
Imagine yourself sitting under the magnificent oak trees surrounding the courtyard and enjoying a spectacular Texas sunset while sipping your favorite beverage. Or maybe sitting in a rocking chair on the deck of the party barn is more your style!
The Adelphia Cottage House is located 1.5 miles from the historic downtown. There you can enjoy shopping at several stores, have a glass of wine at Wool & Vine, or stop by Eve's Restaurant for some great German food. If craft beer is more your style, head over to the Lampasas Beer Market for a cold one. The Colorado Bend State Park is located only 29 miles away and a great place to do a little hiking and kayaking! On your way back, stop by our favorite winery, Stoneledge, for an award-winning glass of wine.
The cottage house was the original house of the Markward estate. It consisted of three rooms - a kitchen, dining room, and a bedroom. John Markward lived in the cottage while building the main house for the love of his life, Miss Adelphia White. The main house was completed in 1881 and John and Adelphia were married on the property in 1882. In October of 2016, the main house and cottage of John and Adelphia Markward Estate received designation on the National Register of Historic Places under the name of Markward Manor.
