About this property
Peaceful - Private - Paradise! The Sugar Shack
We look forward to welcoming you to the Sugar Shack! Our 2 BR 1 BA camp with additional lofted living and sleeping space is the perfect place to host your family on your next vacation to Carrabassett Valley. Nestled among poplar and pine trees, this private home has all the comforts and convenience you need including 1 Gig WiFi, a well stocked kitchen, multiple sleeping arrangements, indoor and outdoor wood fire comforts and so much more.
Our home features two private first floor bedrooms; one with a king bed and one with a queen bed and lofted bunk as well as another set of bunk beds.. The upstairs loft includes a queen-sized sleeper sofa with an extremely comfortable memory foam mattress.
The lofted living space features two welcoming sofas. We offer HDTV, DVD, Bose surround sound. Relax with family and watch a movie from our extensive collection, or use the high speed internet to stream your favorite shows or movies on Roku. There is also a cozy book nook with lending library and a small desk and work space set up to accommodate anyone looking to work during their time at camp. And yes, we have high speed WiFi!
Any time of year a wood stove provides a welcoming ambiance as well as ample heat in winter, with convenient swing arms for drying cold and wet gear on snowy ski days. Firewood is available for the indoor stove and limited rough outdoor logs are available for the fire pit. Relax on our peaceful covered porch to sip your morning coffee or enjoy a beverage after a long day on the slopes. The large private yard is great for summer activities like frisbee and cornhole, and a grill and picnic table offers the opportunity to enjoy meals outdoors. At night the location of the Sugar Shack is unbeatable for stargazing; far enough from surrounding homes for a tranquil privacy, yet close enough to pop to the grocery store for a pint of ice cream!
Water is provided to our home from a well, but a recently installed whole house filtration system takes care of any unwanted sulfur smells and makes all faucets crisp and clean for drinking.
We welcome you to consider bringing your dog to The Sugar Shack. Please note there will be a nightly fee for canine guests, with additional fees if you are traveling with more than one dog. These fees help cover cleaning costs and wear and tear on our lovely home. Our yard is a great place for dogs to roam and in general we feel our home is very pet friendly. Pet fees are collected outside of your booking rate one week prior to arrival.
We have several old but well maintained mountain bikes available to guests for exploring our neighborhood and the surrounding area.
No matter how you choose to spend your time in the Carrabassett Valley, the Sugar Shack is certain to make you feel right at home.

Adorable house! Can't wait to come back on our next trip
The house was very sweet and cozy. The area was great and very peaceful. They even had some extra dog toys for my dog to play with while she was there!

Thank you Meaghan! We value all our guests, especially our four legged friends. Looking forward to hosting you again.
The cabin was super comfortable and had everything we needed. We skiied Sugarloaf and snowmobiled from the center of town. Easy access to gas station (important for snowmobiling) and restaurants when we didn’t want to cook.
We had a wonderful time at the Sugar Shack! It was very relaxing- perfect size for the four of us an our dog! Peter was great- very communicative. We hope to visit again!
We truly enjoyed our stay. The amenities are top knotch - dog toys and bowls, awesome TV set up in the loft, local pancake & syrup. Peter is very attentive and helpful. We hope to come back again.
The cabin is very comfy and beautifully situated. With the Carabassett River only a mile away and surrounded by the mountains of western Maine, the scenery is beautiful and choices of easy walks to more difficult hikes are many. We would love to come back again.
We had a great stay at the Sugar Shack. We had everything we needed and then some. It’s perfectly set up for skiers with places to dry your gear and chill by the fire. The loft was really nice to hang and watch TV. We’d come back if we are ever in the area again.
We had a nice long weekend at the Sugar Shack. Quiet spot in the woods. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed for a little getaway. We spent most of our days out hiking and exploring the area. Recommend for anyone looking to unplug and relax.
Our family had a wonderful Holiday visit to Sugarloaf at the Sugar Shack. Our accommodations were comfortable for our family of 5 adults...great location and plenty of information provided for any of our needs. The information about the cabin was spot on and everything that we needed was at our fingertips. Very thoughtful, responsive and organized host. Thank you again - will hopefully be back for our next visit to Sugarloaf!
Terrific home base for skiing at Sugarloaf 20 minutes away. Cabin is off the beaten path, very quiet, yet only a couple minutes to Kingfield for groceries, gas, and restaurants. Well stocked kitchen for cooking meals with plenty of room kick back in front of the cozy wood fireplace. The loft is a great escape for kids. Highly recommended- would definitely stay again.

Thank you Chris. We appreciate you choosing The Sugar Shack and look forward to hosting you again in February.
We totally enjoyed our stay at the sugar shack in the woods. It was a super ski week, we got to suarloaf and saddleback for several days of nice skiing. The sugar shack was just perfect for our ski vacation, all the cooking and dining items you would need. Once we learned what to get for TV stations we are able to watch a few shows.Having a really nice woodstove was a bonus. The place was super clean, close to town, and quiet.Sugar shack will be our number one pick for another ski trip to Sugarloaf. Thanks so much!!! Amy and Larry
We stayed for 5 days while in town for a ski race. It was an easy 20 minute drive to Sugarloaf. The cabin was super cute and cozy and very clean. The hosts were great with providing all of the necessary information in advance and even checked up on us as we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. The location is perfect if you want some privacy but also had amenities a short drive away such as a grocery store and market. We had no issues finding it and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The beds were comfortable and it had everything we needed for an extended stay. We would definitely recommend!
