Wonderful Spring Weekend
My husband, two dogs, and I enjoyed a quiet April weekend on Porter Lake. The place was exactly as described and clearly a beloved family lake house. We will certainly be back!

Great Lake!
Our group booked this home to spend the 4th of July weekend and we had a good time. The home is on a gorgeous, clean lake and the setting is extremely relaxing and private. We really enjoyed sitting on the dock and watching the loons (I have never seen so many)! The owners provided great directions to get to the house and check in was easy. We appreciated the owners leaving kayaks and a canoe for guest use - it was nice to be able to get out on the water! The lake was also great for swimming although we would of appreciated if the ladder had been attached to the dock for our stay. Our dogs loved playing in the yard and swimming with us. The house appears to have been updated recently and was a good size for our group of four adults and two dogs. We appreciate the owners allowing dogs to stay. The house had most everything we needed to prepare meals except we could not find dish towels. We appreciated the space left in the pantry for guest items. Of note, some of the drawers and cabinets were cluttered and these spaces, and some kitchen items, were not as clean as would be expected. The beds were comfortable but there was limited space for guest items in the bedrooms/closets due to the owners storing their clothing/items there. We were able to work around this but our experience would have been improved if there was more space set aside for guest’s things. Would overall recommend this property to those looking for a relaxed stay on a beautiful Maine lake!

Welcome! We hope that you have a wonderful stay at our home on the scenic western mountains of Maine. Relax and enjoy the natural surroundings and serenity of this special place. Please remember that this is our home; treat it and our belongings with the same respect that you would expect if someone were visiting your home. We found this property in 2018 and decided it was the perfect place to enjoy year-round with its beautiful lake and proximity to Sugarloaf for skiing and the hiking of the Bigelow Mountains. We enjoy spending time here with our family and friends along with our son JJ and Nelson, our Bernese Mountain Dog.

Jeff owns and runs an international travel company, ActivSport Travel and Jess is a high school Math teacher in South Portland. Our passions lay in soccer, skiing, traveling the world, and being outdoors.

We know you will love your time at Porter Lake and feel free to say hi to the friendly neighbors, there are very nice people that live here. The setting is so relaxing you will be tempted not to leave but be sure to take advantage of the many hikes and trails in the area both during the winter and the summer!

Enjoy our home and have a wonderful stay!

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because we loved the lakefront setting, and Porter Lake's pristine waters and wildlife makes it one of Maine's best kept secrets! We were looking for something close to a quality ski resort in the winter, but yet just far enough away to have some privacy from the hustle and bustle of the busy ski condo scene. We also wanted a place that would be special to visit in the summer and the fall months as well. This property checks all of our boxes for a perfect vacation any time of year and we think you and your loved ones will feel the same way!

What makes this property unique

Lakefront setting with unbeatable views and pristine nature. The sounds of the loons will enchant you and morning coffee out on the dock is a transcendental experience! In the winter, the property takes on an even more intimate and cozy atmosphere with snowshoeing and cross country skiing on the lake or snowmobiling on the exceptional trail network just down the road from the house as fun outdoors pursuits.
