We had a nice stay at this cute cottage. The reservation and check in process was very easy and the owner was very responsive. We enjoyed the view from the deck and the kayaks were a nice way to enjoy the pond.
My wife and I had a great time. Fran was a gracious host. The use of her boat and kayaks really made it fun. The private beach was also a bonus. Fran recommended some very nice restaurants in the area. We’re looking forward to return in the future.
Great place with amazing views! Especially loved eating dinner looking out at Lucas Pond! Fran was an exceptional host and went out of her way to make us welcome! I would highly recommend 😊
Great little cottage on a cute pond, perfect for a couple's getaway. Sadly, it was rainy the entire time we were there, but there were boats available for use and we saw a beautiful heron on the pond. Also, the internet was great for remote working.
Perfect trip! Our first road trip with our son and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. The little beach pond was our favorite part! It was so nice to be able to walk out the front door to a gorgeous view. Thank you so much Fran for your hospitality!
John and Fran’s cottage is quiet slice of heaven on a tranquil pond. The cottage was immaculate and the owners helpful and friendly. We enjoyed relaxing by the pond on the well manicured yard and property.
The atmosphere at Lucas Pond is calming and relaxing. The owner is gracious and friendly. I only wish they would allow dogs. I would love to come back with my pug and chug.
Fran and John were wonderful hosts, wonderful people in general! They were very accommodating and flexible. The property has a beautiful swimming pond right in front of it, a variety of boat vessels available for use. The cottage is quaint and cozy. We’d love to come back and stay with Fran and John again.
Fran and her family were lovely hosts. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Before my son and I went fishing, Fran even helped us search for live worms in her yard. Her son also helped by providing advice on gear and technique from his many years of trout fishing.
The cottage on the lake is so peaceful and beautiful. John and Fran are the best hosts you could ask for! This is our second time staying here and we consider them our NH family! We always have a wonderful stay. Having the private beach all to ourselves, having access to kayaks and boats and fishing off the pier! Always a wonderful way to relax. We will be back for sure!
Fran is a warm and gracious hostess. The cottage is comfortable and quaint, perfect for a couple, and it was spotless when we arrived. The location is fantastic. We had a great time rowing around the lake, and a lovely evening by the fire pit. It's far enough from the beaten path that we didn't have to deal with any noise or traffic, but there are several nice local restaurants in the area, as well as a neat little local cinema (Barn Z's). Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.
First we have to say that Fran is an excellent host. Attentive and available to take care of the small things that arise. The cottage is perfect for two and the privacy and setting just right. The pond is beautiful and I was able to get in one paddle despite the rainy weekend. The Brimfield North antique show saved our Saturday. Overall a most enjoyable stay.
excellent in every way! The house was very clean, all the supplies we needed were there. The pond is amazing, so refreshing. It was a quiet neighborhood. Fran and John are very friendly and helpful hosts. I hate to write this review, because I want to keep it our secret! We would stay again without hesitation.
Dear Fran,
Thanks for a great week at your cabin. We especially enjoyed early morning kayaking, morning swims and being close to several state parks. It was a good jump off point for visiting sites in Portsmouth and Concord. We enjoyed local sites such as Calef’s General Store and the Lazy Lion Restaurant. Hiked at Pawtuckaway State Park, challenging but good. Morning coffee and dinners on the porch were great we were visited by Hummingbirds, a wild turkey, and woodpeckers and saw a heron and loons on lake. We enjoyed hopping in the kayaks to go fishing every day.
The one-bedroom cottage was quaint and clean. John and Fran have created a great getaway spot on Lucas Pond. There are no motorboats on the pond which added to the tranquility of our week-long stay. Kayaks, which were provided with the cottage, was a major "sport" for us. At times we were the only ones on the pond. You can also use their rowboat to fish the many coves. I was able to "perfect" my casting so if I go back, I can concentrate on getting the fish to bite. :) The cottage is centrally located so that day trips to many of the local attractions are easily accomplished. John and Fran were definitely very gracious hosts.
We really enjoyed our (way too short) stay here. The cottage is very roomy for a 1 br and was clean and stocked with many things ( water, cream, coffee, shampoo, dish soap, etc.) There was a beach across the dirt road which was perfect - and not crowded at all. The water was beautiful and my 7 yr old had a ball. She also go to fish for the first time. We did not have a chance to use the boats but were made aware they were available to us. We only met the hosts once but they were very friendly and accomodating and available if we needed anything. We had plenty of privacy and it is so peaceful and quiet. Well worth it and we hope to return.
Wonderful lakeside location and a very cute cabin. Very nice host. We knew ahead of time that the well water was not potable, what we didn’t know was that it had a silver smell and was brown. Unfortunately the bed is very old and creaky and not suitable for two people so we used the pullout sofa bed as backup. It was also very uncomfortable and dirty and had no mattress pad. Sheets and blankets were available. Both items need replacing. The cabin also has a terrible moldy smell. We left early because of this.
Fran is a most gracious host and the cottage is lovely. It was very clean and we were even treated to her delicious homemade zucchini bread, hot from the oven! The private beach was just that...PRIVATE! Just the relaxing getaway we were looking for. My husband enjoyed fishing in the pond very much. There is a DVD player, as stated in the description, which is good since there are very few channel options for the TV. We did bring a movie to enjoy one night, and we relaxed by the fire pit on the next night. Fran recommended some local area restaurants which we visited and were pleased with. The Northwood's Brewing Company was definitely worth a visit. The only issue we had at the cottage was with the water. We couldn't use it for drinking or bathing due to an issue with the well. Fran did provide gallons of spring water as well as stock the fridge with bottled waters for drinking and cream for coffee. We would love to return to this cozy cottage and are hopeful that the water issue will be resolved. Thank you, Fran for sharing your home with us!
