The Space:
The owners of Hands Down Retreat have been updating this incredible New Mexico Territorial home with all new furnishings, décor, and now with A/C for your comfort. The hot tub has also been replaced with a beautiful brand new unit!
The details of this home are incredible! As you enter the home past they foyer, you will notice the high ceilings, large windows to take in the amazing views, custom details, and gorgeous décor. Boasting over 3,300 sq/ft of living space, the open concept floorplan features a main living area, dining, and kitchen with an easy casual flow and also a convenient powder bath. The spacious main living area has comfy furnishings with a sectional, recliner, and two chairs. The fireplace enhances the space with a warm glow- a perfect setting for relaxing or to cozy up and take off the winter chill. The large wet bar with sink is also a great spot to mix cocktails!
The spacious gourmet kitchen is a chef's dream! Gorgeous granite countertops and beautiful cabinetry, it's zoned perfectly for efficiency. Equipped with SubZero refrigerator and freezer, Wolf 6 burner gas range with oven, microwave and walk-in pantry. It's well-stocked with just about everything you'll need to prepare some delicious meals during your stay, just bring the groceries and stock up the huge walk in pantry! Large sink with 2 drawer style dishwashers make clean up a breeze and the window view out to the back of the acreage isn't bad either! The large bar top island has a sink, 2 cooling drawers and tons of extra counterspace for prep and serving with seating for four. The open concept allows everyone to be in on all the fun and flows easily into the spacious dining room. The large dining table comfortably seats 6 and views out to the back porch facing the Capitan mountains.
Take a step out on the front porch and enjoy the views of majestic Sierra Blanca Peak. You'll love starting your day out here with a warm cup of coffee. On the back side of the home the covered back porch offers treed views with the Capitan mountains beyond. Enjoy the privacy while taking in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors. You'll find a large gas grill ready for steaks, plenty of seating and sparkling hot tub ready to melt all the days stresses away! On cool crisp mornings you'll hear the bull elk bugle. Deer, fox, and wild turkey are also frequent visitors and you may even get to the famous Wild Horses of Alto. With plenty of space and accommodating seating, you and your guests may just spend all your time out here. In the evenings you'll be amazed at the millions of stars in the night sky!
The Primary Suite offers a king-sized bed, gorgeous windows with lovely tree views, fireplace, and plenty of space to unpack your bags and feel right at home. The private bathroom features beautiful décor and all the amenities you will need during your stay. Enjoy the luxurious soaking tub, walk-in shower, and separate vanities.
The spacious second bedroom features a queen-sized bed and large windows. Wake up and walk outside with the access to the lower deck from this bedroom. A bench is provided making this the perfect spot for your morning coffee. The third bedroom offers a queen-sized bed, large windows flooding the interior with gorgeous natural light, and a shares a Jack & Jill bathroom. The final bedroom provides guests with a comfortable queen-sized bed, armoire and tons of space. All bedrooms have flat screen tv's for your enjoyment! Your guests will truly enjoy their stay here. Just past the kitchen is the hallway to the powder bath. To the right is a convenient laundry room with washer and dryer. To the left is access to the garage and stairs that lead up a large living area and sleep space! You'll find a queen sized bed, and 2 twin beds and full bathroom!. The kids feel like they have their own space to hang out and features a 50 inch TV!
The home is equipped with radiant floor heat. newly installed remote control state-of-the-are A/C units and ceiling fans for your comfort. NO PETS, NO SMOKING, NO PARTIES
Guest Access:
SELF CHECK IN: Access codes for the remote lock are EMAILED to the reservation holder w/in 24 hours of arrival. Be sure to complete your guest check in form after booking and provide your email address and contact phone.
DIRECTIONS AND CHECK IN INSTRUCTIONS: For the privacy of any staying guest, physical addresses are not provided until booking and confirmation is complete. .
DIGITAL GUESTBOOK: Directions, check in instructions, and everything you'll need to know are available provided in the digital guestbook! The link is sent via email after booking and completing your check in form. We'll also send via SMS text message prior to arrival.
ACCESSING THE HOUSE: There is a gate at the front of the home which can be manually opened and closed. The driveway up to the house is paved with a slight incline then level. There are steps up from the driveway and entry to the house is through the front door. Guests have full access of the home except for any locked doors which are for owner's access only. Guests are welcome to use the 2 car garage but access only from the house. There are no remotes provided for guests.
The Neighborhood:
Hands Down Retreat is located on the high mesa of beautiful Alto, just north of the Village of Ruidoso. From the pine-speckled property you can see Sierra Blanca Peak and the White Mountain Wilderness to the west and Capitan Mountain Range to the east. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and per the community's restrictive covenants, noise ordinances are strictly enforced. Please be respectful of the quite enjoyment of your neighbors as sound carries in the canyons.
While Alto provides visitors and residents that "away from it all" feeling, this property is conveniently located just 3 miles from the turn off to Ski Apache and Ruidoso Winter Park, 4 miles from Alto Lake, and 15 miles from Ruidoso's bustling Midtown and Grindstone Lake. Lincoln County is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts year round with great public golf, live horseracing in summer months, and dozens of trails for hiking and biking.
Step back in history and take a tour of Billy the Kid's stomping grounds on the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway or take a day trip to nearby White Sands National Park and other great state parks! From mountain peaks to the desert basin, we have it all!
Getting Around:
Driving access is generally easy to moderate and all roads in the neighborhood are paved. Some areas around Ruidoso and Alto are hilly to mountainous but generally easy to get around year round. During winter months, guests are encouraged to have access to 4-wheel drive and/or snow chains in the event of a major winter weather event. For extended stays, travel insurance is always recommended.
