About this property

Small or Large Groups. Dogs are OK. Stylish Cabin w/Large Fenced Yard

Visit our picturesque 4-bedroom cottage in the White Mountains and off the Coronado Trail which is rated 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor. Not only will you enjoy a slice of heaven two steps removed from “The Devil’s Highway” you will enjoy one of Arizona’s last true wilderness areas. Whether you’re looking to see a flying saucer, visit a new mountain town or you’re the outdoorsy type you’re in good hands. Our cabin is 7,671 feet above sea level, it’s nestled in the pines at the bottom of a canyon and Colter Creek runs through our property. It’s a secluded area with more elk than people but it’s close to must-see attractions such as Escudilla Mountain Wilderness Reserve (10 minute drive).

You will find ample space to sprawl and enjoy fresh mountain air and water. You can drink right from the tap - the water is pure and delicious! Be sure to bring your outdoor toys, hiking boots, and get ready for stargazing. According to the Bortle Scale, this area has the best stargazing and astrophotography potential in the state. Depending on the time of year, you are likely to see elk grazing right on the other side of your fence or hear them bugling!

----------
AMENITIES

This private retreat is fully equipped to be your home away from home. The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the utensils you will need, including a Keurig. For the coffee connoisseur you will find a French press and pour-over. Enjoy your meals together around a large kitchen island (seats 4), a dining table (seats 8), and patio seating (seats 8).

After you enjoy a day of fishing, hiking, or skiing - decompress by the fireplace, tell spooky ghost stories, listen to an old record, or play board games. But if you run across the pinochle deck, that was an accidental purchase (if you know how to play….teach me!). Upstairs in the loft area you will find a Wi-Fi enabled TV, 100+ DVDs, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360 (plenty of gaming choices). Both of the bedrooms downstairs have a TV. The room (office-ready) includes a VHS with old-school movie options like Terminator or Top Gun.

OK—so you’re probably wondering, is there internet??? Yes, you'll have a reliable Wi-Fi connection, fast enough to stream on multiple devices. Here’s the bad news, depending on your carrier you may not have a cell signal. To make up for that, there’s a Yellow Pages and a landline in the event you want to re-experience the way we used to do things in the 90’s… If not you can always “talk to the hand”!

---------
LOGISTICS

In a nutshell you’re looking at a secluded 2.5 acre canyon property in the pines with 1 acre fenced. The cabin is 1,895 square feet with 4 bedrooms / 4 beds (3 queens / 1 king) with 8 bunk beds in the upstairs entertainment room. We can accommodate 8-9
adults (assuming shared beds) and 8 smaller humans via twin-sized bunk beds. That said, we don’t advise groups larger than 12, in the spirit of leg stretching. Besides, while there’s an ample supply of beds, blankets and pillows--- unfortunately, there’s only two bathrooms.

----------
**IMPORTANT**
We cannot guarantee that every amenity we list will be in place when you arrive. Gremlins seem to occasionally infiltrate our cabin and hide things in the strangest of places. Also, due to risk / insurance reasons fires are no longer allowed - either inside or outside.

We are 100% self check-in & checkout. You don’t need to worry about meeting strangers or getting fined for a lost key! Between a smart lock, Ring doorbell and an outdoor camera we are able to verify check-in, guest identify and headcount. Once you unlock the door these devices turn off.

Heading to Town

Our cabin is located between Alpine & Round Valley in proximity to Greer. We do our best to fully stock the cabin with essentials and non-essentials, but we recommend you go to the Safeway or Bashas in Springerville on your way down to the cabin. It's a 20 minute drive from the cabin to the closest store. There’s also a pharmacy, a hunting store and plenty of other cool shops you should check-out.

As far as “Things to do” there’s really not enough space to tell you everything so here’s the cliff notes:

- 10 miles to Williams Valley Ski Area. Beautiful area with gentle to moderate trails groomed for diagonal striding and ski-skating. The area is adjoined by a large open area for snowmobile riders. Rentals + instructors are available.
- ATV / Snowmobiling (Call White Mountain Offroad @928-333-0766)
- During the warmer season we suggest you hike Escudilla Mountain (10 minute drive) and fish Halsey Lake (Rainbow Trout)
- 10 minute drive to Nelson Reservoir, kayaking, small boats and fishing generally stocked with Rainbow Trout.
- 40 mile drive to Sunrise Ski Resort (summer + winter fun)
- 20 mile drive to R Lazy J Wildlife Ranch / Zoo
- In proximity to Luna Lake (Rainbow & Brown Trout), Big Lake, Black River (Apache Trout), Rainbow Lake and many others.
- Game / Wildlife: Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Wild Turkeys, Rams, Bear and Mountain Lions
- Hunting, largest Elk found in the country is here
- Bird Watching
- El Rio Theatre (oldest movie theatre in Arizona <20 miles)
- Geocaching
- Golf
- Horseback Riding
- Wildlife Viewing (right from our backyard)
- Scenic Drives
- Hiking trails are everywhere! Check out AllTrails.com and I list some great trails here on my profile.

If you have made it this far, I’m actually impressed. It’s time to have fun and book your adventure. Looking forward to hosting you!

Beautiful prooerty
Beautiful property. If you’re looking to unplug this is the place to do it. We brought our two dogs and I think they had a better vacay than we did. The kitchen was well stocked though there were a few appliances that didn’t work so we had to make do. The owners were very attentive and accommodating.

Secluded paradise in the mountains
This property is BETTER than expected. The entire house is very nicely but simply decorated. The kitchen is the best stocked one I have ever stayed at. Small appliance, dishes, pantry staples and more..it was amazing!! The feel of the cabin was warm and homey. We loved the record player and records, of all genres, we played "vinyl roulette" for days and had a blast. The front room to take off mucky boots, coats, and gloves was filled with helpful lockers to keep it all hidden away. The upstairs TV/video game/board game options were pretty awesome too. The property manager and owner both communicated with us promptly well before and during the stay and they were so accommodating to a special request when the didn't have to be.They offer the option to access some onsite firewood, do that!! It was so easy! Even though the cabin is wonderful, and you can easily hunker down for a long weekend, be sure to take a drive around the area for some beautiful sightseeing.

I'm just a regular guy that happens to own a cabin. I have a day job. I'm not a hotelier or real estate professional. I'm not a wealthy landowner, literally, I'm just a one man show with a cabin in a town of only 90 people. I will do my best to give you the best experience possible but it's probably going to be a few steps removed from that of a Four Seasons.

Why they chose this property

This property and surrounding land is very picturesque and remote. The lot is very private and sits at the bottom of a canyon, pictures honestly can't do it justice. It's truly a hidden gem. The elevation is roughly 8000 feet above sea level, so we like to go up there in the summer to beat the Phoenix heat. It really doesn't get any warmer than 85 degrees during the hottest summer months. But you can visit this property at anytime of the year and enjoy the seasonal variations. If you read the description we give you a lot of detail as to the surroundings and the amenities but if you enjoy getting away from the chaos of city life and the outdoors you will like our cottage.

What makes this property unique

Private (can't see any neighbors), wildlife viewing, the location / scenery, weather / seasonality, nearby hiking / outdoor activities (hunting, fishing etc), small mountain town, right off Coronado Trail (one of the most beautiful highways in Arizona), our private well water is absolutely delicious. There's a lot to love about this place. Let us know what you think!

Hiking Trails:
- West Fork No.94 (Lower Trail) - starts off Osborn Road (in Greer) & meanders along a small creek surrounded by Aspen & Ponderosa Pine. The trail gradually ascends to Badger Pond which is surrounded by wild raspberry bushes and roses. Potato Hollow Spring, a natural spring, is 2 miles from Badger Pond.
- East Fork No. 95 (Lower Trail) - parking area / trailhead on the left, about 1/3 mile before Hwy 373 in Greer, dead-ends. Parking and restrooms available. Trail ends at HWY 273 & Gabaldon Horse Campgrounds. This is the horseback access to the East Fork Mt Baldy Trail #95.
- You will start off on a two-tracker old road and then pass through a wood gate. This is where you will see Crossover Trail No. 96 taking off to your right. This nice nice 3.5 mile trail, one-way, connects #94 & #94 Baldy Trails.
- We will continue to add more trails as we go.
