Humble Home but Needs Improvements
Pros: Quiet neighborhood; host accommodating & responsive to issues; house comfortable for 5 adults, 3 kids & 2 dogs; thoughtful touches like Keurig/K-Cups, laundry soap, shampoo/conditioner/body wash/hand soap, hangers, some extra bedding; decent space for cookouts; TVs, some smart; internet service good; highways close; grocery & gas stations close; beds comfortable; kitchen island is large & great for entertaining (tall people beware of vent); helpful having 3 bathrooms & 2 master bedrooms for a full house.
Cons: Sewage issue during stay (but host was very responsive to issue); issue needs further attention: wrong size sewer cap, so sewer continued to overflow in the backyard; Charges for 2 additional adults staying on property in personal RV were excessive; Pool dirty & not at all presentable; Backyard had old, full yard debris bags; overall the yards need work: fix broken/uneven concrete (tripping hazard), improve curb appeal, cool decking around pool, proper electrical outdoor outlets; Toilet seat in a Master Bath does not fit toilet; Not enough bath towels for all guests (10 guests in total); Limited kitchen utensils, tools, etc.: could be stocked better, but it was a new VRBO property, so with time hopefully this will improve; flooring mistakes in house need to be addressed; missing smart device for TV in one guest room; laundry room has a strong odor of mildew/mold.
The description of the house & the pictures presented, were not representative of what we experienced, so my rating for this house is a 3. The sewer issue was not necessarily at the fault of the homeowner, & we are pleased with their responsiveness to the issue. However, the plumbing personnel that responded to the issue were messy & not careful when needing to enter the home. They tracked raw sewage into the home & the house needed to be cleaned. Someone from our party cleaned & disinfected the soiled areas, but the owner did offer to have a professional cleaning done. Since the work was already completed, the owner offered to compensate us for having to clean it ourselves. At the end of the stay, compensation was offered, but for a perfect review. We declined to give a perfect review but requested compensation for the cleaning. After some back-and-forth with the owner regarding the compensation request for us having to clean up the mess, the owner has not followed back up with me regarding compensation for cleaning the home after the raw sewage incident.
