Fabulous cabin. We’ve never seen such a well-stocked kitchen. Everything was set up in a way that made us feel welcome and comfortable. Among other things, we enjoyed the fire pit near the stream and found a wonderful hike nearby. Thank you Ellen for being such a thoughtful host!
Amazing house, great host! The area is perfect for mountain biking and hiking from. The kitchen was really well stocked so we could whip up meals. I’m definitely going to be coming back!!
This is such a great place to stay when visiting the area. We spent allot of time in Black Mountain and Montreat because my husband went to college there, but might just come back and stay in or around the cabin. Our kids loved the creek and hot tub. We also enjoyed a hike and had friends over to grill. Everything is just right to have a great family weekend.
This cottage was perfect the gurgling creek was so peaceful. Perfectly located for a day trip to chimney rock and then a cruise on the blue ridge parkway the next day.
We loved this cottage. The back deck is spectacular. The decor is beautiful, kitchen well stocked and the host was very quick to respond with questions. We definitely hope to stay again!
Had a great stay. The owner has done a great job at stocking the house even down to buying quality silverware. Her attention to details is much appreciated.
Delightful experience. Beautiful property. Loved the creek and hot tub. Great location. Close to hiking and easy drives to Black Mountain and Asheville.
The pictures of the cottage does noy do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful! My family enjoyed playing in the creek, lounging in the hot tub, and just sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee listening to the creek. The beds were also comfortable. All the little extras were just amazing. Highly recommend!
This property was perfect. It had everything we needed and more. Everything was so well placed and the extras were great! The host was so kind and promptly answered all of my questions.
This property - as well as the host - by far exceeded all expectations. We had so much fun and enjoyed all the details, big and small. We will definitely be back!
We enjoyed this property so much! The house is immaculate. The setting beside the running stream was so relaxing. We loved sitting on the porch in the swing and rocking chairs. The host was very responsive to our check in and out needs. It was perfect, we will be back!
Our family had a great stay! The house was spacious, clean, and welcoming, and Ellen was very communicative and accommodating. Old Fort was a great location for us to be able to explore different areas like Asheville, Black Mountain/Montreat, and the Lake James area. We loved having a fire pit and a deck next to the water, too. We hope to be back!
5-star stay from top to bottom. Great location, perfect host, awesome house - old farmhouse feel, cozy, but nicely updated and laid out well. Great room and hot tub overlook babbling creek, bank of rhododendron and patio with grill and fire pit. There are lots of nearby hiking/biking trails, shops in Black Mountain and local grocery and taverns. We loved it!
Jarrett Creek Cottage is delightful. It is beautifully appointed, well equipped, very clean and Ellen, the owner, was very friendly and responsive. We couldn't have asked for more. My 4 children had a blast playing in the creek and exploring the adjacent acreage. If we return to the area, we would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend it for families.
We had an absolute blast at this lovely home. We spent a tremendous amount of time outdoors sitting by the stream, in the hot tub, or by the fire. This house is comfortable, clean, and well stocked. We will definitely return to this property. Also, in old fort the cinnamon rolls at Go Go’s are amazing!
We had a great time at Jarrett cottage! The house is well-stocked, clean, and so cozy. Ellen, the host, is very responsive and made us feel very welcome. The creek next to the house is amazing - our kids had so much fun playing by it. We found it very easy to go to Black Mountain and Asheville from the house. I would definitely rent this house again!
We have stayed at many VBROs and this one had to be the best stocked and comfortable! Coffee, tea, spices, paper products, soap and shampoos all provided! Owner extremely responsive and so helpful! Very comfortable beds and furniture. Old fort is a small but cute town. We preferred location over hectic Asheville. We will come back!
This home is nothing less than perfection. It was cozy, clean, comfortable and just a dream. We are already planning our next trip. We even left 3 jackets in the closet and the owner shipped them to us. So responsive and kind.
A wonderful time in a beautiful, “feels like home” cottage in the country, with a babbling creek right out the door to explore! A great location to drive to waterfalls, caverns, hikes, shopping, dining, and other fun adventures. To top it off, the kindest host you will meet - helpful, responsive, and gracious. I know you will love your time at the cottage just as much as our family of five did! Thank you Ellen!
This house exceeded all our expectations! It’s beautiful! There was not a single thing we wanted or needed that the host did not have! We loved coffee on the deck mornings listening to the river run. The location was centered perfectly to everything we wanted to do. .. It was absolutely perfect! I could move in and live there! We will definitely be back!!
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Jarret Creek Cottage this week. The property is gorgeous and spotless. The first night there we decided to make a home cooked meal which was ready in a snap as all cooking essentials are there at your disposal. While visiting we went to Asheville to explore, rented a pontoon boat on Lake James and went fishing with the Catawba Angler. In the evening we would sit outside and listen to the creek or relax in the hot tub. It was a wonderfully relaxing trip !
If you're thinking of staying somewhere else in this area don't. This place is absolutely amazing, and so peaceful. Ellen (the host) is the best host I've ever had. She was so helpful and accommodating. I stayed here with my girlfriend and sister and they both absolutely loved it. It borders a bunch of trails and some small towns that are great to visit. Both Hillmans brewery and Whaleys are great. Definitely visit Black Mountain, coolest little mountain town around. We will definitely be back.

Thank you for visiting my page. My husband and I have lived in this area for over two decades enjoying the trails, rivers, rocks, and restaurants. The picture above is of my daughter and me on the Nantahala River with NOC. I am as overcome with the beauty of this area today as I was when I first visited. I come from a large household with four sisters and love cooking for large groups of friends and family. Hosting groups for fun vacations or restful getaways feels like an extension of hosting family. I hope that I can help provide the opportunity for folks to fall in love with this area just as I have.
Why they chose this property
Jarrett Creek Cottage is a special property. We have lived next door for almost 10 years and were thrilled to have the opportunity to buy it from the previous owners- it has been in their family for over 100 years. It was recently totally gutted and rebuilt with the same cottage feel and upgraded amenities. It has 3 bedrooms, including two king beds and four twin beds, and a pull-out sleeper sofa.
What makes this property unique
Guests of Jarrett Creek will have access to the adjacent Camp Grier property: over 700 acres of private land with a lake, trails, horses, waterfalls and so much more. You will be so glad you chose Jarrett Creek Cottage and come again and again.
