We had a wonderful stay at this house. It’s located in a beautiful mountain area, and the house itself is exceptionally warm, cozy, and comfortable. You can tell the hosts care about their guests. Everything was perfect for a relaxing break. Highly recommended!
This was our second stay here, and it was just as beautiful and enjoyable as our first. Great location and view; beautiful, huge unit; very comfortable bed; fantastic back deck; and two excellent, kind hosts who made our stay easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend this for a delightful stay in Vermont.
We absolutely loved Patricia’s place - it is perfect for a weekend getaway. It was very clean, stocked with amenities, and Patricia was a great host. I would say this is one of the best vacation rentals that I’ve stayed at over the past few years. Highly recommend!
Patricia was so responsive, the place was beautiful and had beautiful views in the living room. Outside was so relaxing to sit out and listen to everything going on. Absolutely would stay here again! Amazing experience with both the owner and the property.
We have stayed here multiple times during our annual vacations to Vermont and Upstate New York. Never look elsewhere because this is just perfect - clean, comfortable, beautiful views, peaceful back deck. And, Patti always leaves a nice treat to greet us when we walk into our home away from home in Vermont. Thank you Patti and Dave for sharing this lovely place with us.
The house and property were very beautiful had everything we needed. The towns around it (Bennington and Manchester) were very fun to check out. And it isn’t that far from mt snow which has great snowboarding/skiing. Great hosts who were friendly and quick to respond to any questions pre and post booking and check in. Would highly recommend this property.
We felt very comfortable in the rental unit. Everything was very clean and we had plenty of room. Loved the back deck! Easy walk to the Chocolate Barn. We hiked Rye Brook Falls and went to the Harvest Fest in Bennington. Robert Frost Museum is a must! Thanks for a great stay!
The property was in a good location. Central to Bennington, Manchester and several ski resorts. The property was quiet, clean and comfortable. The space and furnishings showcased the owner’s artistic skill and craftsmanship. Patricia was easy to communicate with and we appreciated her recommendations on local dining. We enjoyed our stay and would look forward to staying here again.
Large and comfortable. Owner was incredibly responsive when we couldn’t make Keurig work delivering a coffee pot, filters and coffee within minutes. Bed was comfy. Huge couch and work area.

Very pretty area and the apartment is immaculate. There is a big deck outside that is very private, perfect for morning coffee. Beautiful handmade ceramic mugs and dinnerware in the kitchen and the view from the living room is amazing. Right down the street from a great chocolate store and farmers market, and Lake Shaftsbury state park is only a mile down the road. Bennington is five miles away and Mass MOCA a half hour. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back for another visit!
My son and I stayed here for New Year's weekend. The property was clean, roomy, quiet and comfortable. It was well stocked with dishes, silverware etc. There is a keurig coffeemaker and kcups, creamers and sugar available. Patricia even left us some pastry bread and candy. There were nice views of the mountains from the living room. There is also a spacious deck, which would be nice in warmer weather. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property.
My husband and I enjoyed an absolutely lovely stay at Patty and Dave's VRBO. The apartment was sparkling clean and offered all the comforts of home - stocked kitchen, very comfortable bedroom, and a living room with views to die for of the mountains, the Harvest Moon, and an unforgettable rainbow! We sipped wine on the back deck and listened to the babbling brook before dinner and that incredible view in this beautiful unit. The owners made sure we had everything we could need with plenty of extras. We cannot say enough about how fabulous this unit is and the excellent location to all things Vermont (as well as Upstate NY). Great owners! Great unit!

Unique property, has all you need. Perfect for our 2 night stay. Sleeps 2 in a bedroom & 2- snugly in a pullout bed. However my sons needed space- so one of them slept in the pullout bed & the other one slept on the rest of the massive sectional couch. Both were comfy.
There is a k cup coffee maker and complimentary coffee pods, very nice! No regular coffee maker though if that’s your style.
The bathroom is large & the washer dryer is a great feature to have on a trip.
check out the shaftsbury country store & powers market for some local charm.
No complaints!
This place was so clean we thought maybe we were first rental. After observing telephone jacks we realized it been there a while. Its twenty minutes to Manchester and Lye river falls. 45 minutes to Mt Snow. All the net flicks you want to see. This place has personal touches from owner with interior heavy barn decor built into the walls and hand made pottery cups and plates to use. Excellent water quality from the tap.

BEWARE: Frightening Owners Live On on Site and Monitor You Closely
If the property listing had said they live within ten yards of the VRBO building and watch visitors closely and show up unannounced / uninvited, I NEVER would have made a reservation here! A single female with epilepsy, I brought my ADA-licensed service dog with me, although the property says no dogs. I really regret that choice! I regret not asking the owner before booking!
After I had brought my many personal items into the VRBO up the tall, steep, wet-with-rain outdoor stairs, Patricia appeared suddenly, trembling and shaking with rage to tell me she doesn’t allow dogs. I said, “Well, should we go?” feeling awful and uncomfortable and miserable and ready to leave. She said no.
Then she left, but returned minutes later with UNNECESSARY backup: a man, straggly red hair dripping with rage. He and Patricia barged back into the VRBO to tell me get out. Glaring and glowering at me like I was someone twice my size who had invaded his land & threatened his life, the man appeared ready to punch or shoot me. Patricia slammed the door in my face after telling me to leave. She or her husband slammed or punched something else on their way downstairs.
I couldn’t pack my service dog or my car fast enough—careful to navigate the steep, tall, wet outdoor steps with caution.
This has been my only bad VRBO experience—the absolute worst. It may well be my last.

Talk about insane. Our reputation has been good with no problems thus far.
April sneaked in early before check in time with garbage bags full of laundry and no luggage. We honestly don’t mind early check ins, just give us a heads up to make sure the VRBO is ready. April has a large hairy dog that she tied to the refrigerator.
Within an hour of arrival April messages me to state the washer was not working. She over loaded the washer making the door not shut correctly having the washer not able to work. All I see is a large hairy dog tied to the fridge, garbage bags of laundry and food everywhere. April had not been here an hour. Guests have been leaving beer/wine in the refrigerator for the next guests. Nice gestures. April tells me to remove it.
Since my policy is no pets allowed, I asked April for $50 extra to deep clean since there is concern for people that have allergies. April did not want to pay the $50 extra for cleaning because she stated she has a service dog. She drove from TX. I then contacted VRBO and explained what was happening. VRBO stated I could give her a full refund and have her leave. This was perfect.
The stairs were wet because it was raining.
We have never asked anyone to leave. I spoke with my husband to accompany me to ask April to leave. I asked her to leave politely. My husband said nothing. No one punched anything.
She left. We gave her a full refund. I then had quite a mess to clean up after her leaving with water all over from her clothes, salad dressing spills and her garbage.
We do live on the property. The VRBO is a separate building and guests have complete privacy.
Comfortable and cozy place for my husband and I as base place while we attended a wedding nearby. Owner communication was very prompt and helpful. Also a nice list of things to do/places to eat nearby which we took advantage of. It is on Rte 7A so there is some car noise during the day but not a major distraction and very quiet at night. We were so tired on our first night's arrival as got there late and slept great!
A clean, comfortable, cozy and spacious spot with great views and great hosts in the Green Mountain state. The listing was very accurate, although the pictures may not do full justice to the comfort of the space. We will stay here again when we are in the area next time.
We were absolutely in love with this spacious apartment in Shaftsbury. It had such charm and had so much space for us to move around. It was definitely a welcome change from our cramped NYC apartments. Our host even left us a delicious loaf of fresh baked bread! We stayed here to go skiing during the day at Mt. Snow. Incredible weekend, thank you so much!
