Too Many Things Went Wrong
First off, check in was at 4pm. My wife, and two daughters (4 and 2) arrived to the property at 3:55. The crew was still cleaning which was fine. We didn't get into our room until 4:25-4:30. We went down to the pool and when we came back up to get into our room, the key code given to us did not work on our door. My daughters were cold and wet from the pool, and hungry. We tried calling the building numbers, Vacasa numbers, etc., and it took us about an hour to finally get someone out to our property to help. The manager who arrived got in with his code, to which he gave to me. He also told me not to advertise this code because it was a universal code that could get me into other rooms. First off, that is a huge security concern. How many other people knew that code and could have gotten into my room? The second day I had a similar issue with the code to my room. It took us almost 30 minutes to get in. I was on the phone with Vacasa and they were going to send someone out but my wife was able to get in so I hung up the phone. On the third night we had the same issue but was able to get in only after a few minutes. On our fourth night the issue happened again and we were stuck outside for over 30 minutes. I got on the phone with someone from Vacasa and finally our code worked. The Vacasa rep told me that they could send maintenance out to the check the battery. They asked if I wanted to be there for that, but I declined given that I had already spent way to much time on my family vacation dealing with absurd issues. The maintenance person never came. The Vacasa rep also told me they would put an actual key in the drop box by their building so I could use that instead of the code. I have NO IDEA why that wasn't offered to me in the first place. A simple solution to a problem I had every day, especially when the problem consisted of my daughters being hungry and irritated and wanting to get into our room. The last night we stayed we had the same issue and I drove to the Vacasa location. I did not pick up the actual key the night before, so I did on our last night to avoid any further issues. The key was in a bag with my name on it in the drop box outside of the Vacasa building. The key that was in the bag had the building I was in and the room number. Big time security issue #2. Anyone could have gotten that key and get into my room where my wife and daughters were staying. For someone that travels a lot, I need answers!
