About this property

Relax in a 3 bedroom upscale farmhouse style home with charm on 22 acres!

Renovated 130 year old timber frame updated farm home kept so much of its original charm, plus includes today's get-away amenities: chefs glamour kitchen, updated baths, all balanced with delightful simplicity throughout to enjoy peace and quiet (with wifi and TV as desired). Over a mile of trails + small creek & garden to explore. Try out the 2 porches and oversized patio for your morning coffees or afternoon chats. Enjoy what generations of families have known as 'home' with the serenity of established forests for meandering. This registered NC 'farm' is a forestry preserve providing owls, seasonal flocks of birds, amphibians and butterflies ample food and shelter, along with a very new beaver dam. This delightful setting encourages slow living. You'll find 'Maybell' our 1960's Massey Ferguson red tractor, nicknamed 'Rusty' a defunct spring well along the Little River creek, 3 wood bridges, a slatted corn crib made out of oak, small well house by the raised gardens and even a refurbished, ornamental outhouse by the newly fenced former pig pen = explore it all and imagine the contrasts. Whether attending a local wedding, wine events, biking, hiking, Elon, polo tournaments and more; this destination is the perfect place for your wonderful vacation.

Wonderful stay
Beautiful home, tastefully decorated and with so many thoughtful touches. Stayed here with our friends for a wedding weekend in the area. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a tranquil place to stay. Sue was great with her pre-stay messages to make sure we had everything we needed to find and enter the home.

We stayed several days for my daughter’s graduation from Elon. Hosts are great and very responsive. The most relaxing location you can imagine. House is so clean and comfy. Beverage fridge is a huge plus. Cannot say enough good things about this place.

Mike and I enjoy travel and have worked in office environments for most of our careers and was the need to open our farm to others like us, in need of a respit. Farming has been part of our families history for generations. Mike and I started (salvaged) this one to continue our quest to be good stewards of our surroundings and share this with others.

Why they chose this property

After searching for over 20 years, multiple states, this land and home struck a chord with us. The rolling topography, old beaver dam, smattering of outbuildings and a humble 'Carolina T House' is everything we had hoped for. Through it, we pay homage to those who worked the land before us and complement it with a touch of modern updating. Actually, enhanced modern conveniences coupled with simple pleasures is what this home and setting is all about. We love to share this is everyone!

What makes this property unique

Enjoy today's rustic charm of a cedar clad original footprint farm house that took 3 years to bring it back from the brink of demolition to its pristine condition today. When you truly want to sit quietly and absorb the complete serenity of over 100 years of 'being' this home and setting now provides just that. With a short walk past the original oak corn crib to the fern valley of the Little River (it's a creek) and across the bridge to the open field or adjacent trail along the perimeter; it all encourages simple-ness, quiet reflection, soft walking, deep breathing. When back at the home, pick up a book, settle in with some tea and let time drift by.
