The host was responsive, entry went smoothly and the neighborhood felt safe. The air conditioning worked well and the place was comfortable. The quality of the linens and towels was lacking. The squirrels frolicking in the attic perimeter did not affect our sleep.
Cute, very clean home in a quiet area. We appreciated that it was dog friendly. Super comfortable bed and little extras in the kitchen such as dish & hand soap, paper towels, even shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. We could also pack light knowing there was a washer and dryer to use. Overall a great place to stay!
We went to the PGA Championship and the house was in a great location for the Championship parking as well as close to many restaurants. Plus you can park 2 cars in the driveway as street parking is limited. Allison was responsive right away if we had questions.
A charming older house across the street from beautiful Highland Park and walking distance to shops, restaurants, historic Mt. Hope Cemetery and more. Short drive to nearby universities. Lucked into the annual Lilac Festival at Highland Park while in town for a graduation.
They house was clean, the kids loved the attic set up. Our only complaint was the front door only shut completely if it was locked and the interior doors door handle would not stay on. They provided the absolute bare minimum of towels, wash clothes, pillows. Also one of the queen beds was broken I think it was at an angle and we had to put our heads towards the foot of the bed to sleep. While none of these things ruined our trip it was a little inconvenient.
This house was fine for my group of 4 to visit the University of Rochester during alumni weekend. The price was fair for what we got, and I personally felt fine for the most part, but there were a few things that could have been a better based on what my friends shared throughout the weekend. The friend who slept in the bunk bed room was pretty uncomfortable and said she could mostly just feel the mattress springs and her back was sore. We also each only had one thin pillow. There was a lot of dust under the beds, some spiders & webs in corners, and the bed in our room seemed to be held up by a lot of paint cans which worried us a bit, but I personally slept fine. It might have also been nice to have more (and slightly nicer) towels, but there were just enough for us to each have one. The bedsheets were also kind of rough feeling, but not a huge deal. The location was nice for getting to the university and was mostly quiet. There was sufficiently comfortable furniture in the living room for the time we spent in it.I think if they just maybe hire some more thorough cleaners, get some slightly nicer towels and bedding, and replace the twin mattresses on the bunk bed it would be a lot more comfortable. But overall it worked well enough for our needs and the price was fair.
Having read prior reviews, there were not many surprises. My breakdown:Positives:-easy check-in/check-out-friendly hosts-excellent communication, always responded promptly and sent teams in when warranted-Pac-man machine was a huge hit, our kids loved it-location good, near Highland Park, good access to supermarkets and felt generally pretty safeCons:-the house is a little worn, can tell it's a rental -crib was broken-agree with prior reviews about cheap polyester/oddly fitting bedding-there was a squirrel infestation in the roof. Although we were told they hadn't breached the house, they were quite loud scampering around at night and early morning-slow shower drain-water condenser was leaking and the basement where washer/dryer was musty/damp smelling- they did fix it during our stay-the AC, which was quite strong at first, started sputtering toward the end of our three week trip and then just stopped working completely, making the last 2 days quite hot and uncomfortableOverall it was fine (but definitely not luxurious) for a short vacation, and as mentioned, the hosts worked promptly to address issues that came up. Worth noting that they also had addressed issues from prior guest visits, like the low quantity of dinnerware issue- we brought paper plates and utensils after reading reviews, but there were quite enough plates/cups for all 6 of us.
We enjoyed the opportunity to have our pups join us on this mini-vaca with family from our of state. The home is clean and comfortable and convenient to all Rochester has to offer.
Fine location between historic Mt Hope cemetery and Highland Park, just up from the EllwangerBarry neighborhood. Sole wish: it was VERY cold, and I couldn’t find any heat
The property fit our needs. Having stayed in a lot of homes in Rochester this was the most sparse. The furnishings and beds were comfortable. The basics like paper towels bath tissue were nearly nonexistent. The mattress cover and sheets didn’t quite fit on the beds. No extra towels
and no hand towels. For a house that sleeps
6 or more, there were only 4 plates and bowls. With just a few things attended to this would be a five star review.
The property is as described. No issues accessing the house and the location makes it easy to reach U of R and Highland Park. 3 bedrooms makes it easy to sleep 3-4 kids separate from parents.
The house does smell like smoke. The house was well cleaned, but the smoke smell was throughout.
This is our second stay and the house was great! There were new towels and we really appreciated the AC. My kid loves the upstairs room and the location across the street from Highland park is great for walks after work and during the day.
Three generations stayed here while visiting Rochester family. The space was comfortable and convenient. Off street parking available for three cars. Location only blocks away from a nice walking park and also a smoothie place down the street at the corner. Convenient to downtown but quiet and tree lined.
Highly recommended.
We only had three of us staying here for UofR's graduation weekend, so we had lots of extra space. It's in a great location for UofR and college town. Graduation fell on the Lilac Festival weekend, which is basically across the street. We did hit a little traffic because of that, but it was so easy to stop in and see the festivities. The house was very comfortable, and two full baths is a big plus. As others have said, it's fairly basic, but we had all the towels and other supplies we needed. Everything was in working order. The third floor bonus room with Ms. Pacman is a fun plus. The host is extremely prompt in replying to all messages. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it.
The house has just the very basics and no extras, but it was clean and manageable. Host was very responsive to questions and the location was perfect for us
This is an older home near Univ of Rochester. The location was generally convenient for where we needed to be (RIT). Pros: The game/TV room in the attic has a Ms. Pacman game which was fun. The dining table was conducive to card playing in the evenings. The beds were reasonably comfortable, however, the fitted sheets didn't stay on well and bunched up overnight. Cons: there are limited to no amenities including kitchen towels (none), 4 plates (for a home with 6 beds), nowhere to sit/hang out in the backyard, couldn't figure out how to put the front porch light on, the downstairs shower could be cleaned better. You can tell this is a rental property.
The owner has provided the bare minimum or less in terms of essentials. All in all I am giving this property 3 stars because the fun attic doesn't make up for the lack of everything else. Although I value having rental properties as an alternative to hotels, I'm not sure I would stay here again; there would have to be no other options available.
