This is a nice place if you're looking for something in a rural setting. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. Great for kids with the play area and bunk beds. Small town of Meadow Vista is only a few miles away and has a market and a couple of good restaurants. We enjoyed the wildlife and walk along the canal.
Wonderful and relaxing. The wildlife is always around, from the birds to the deer they are fun to watch.
Playing pool late into the evening was lots of fun.
The house was also very clean and the backyard deck was comfortable.
This was a wonderful property! The wildlife is abundant and we enjoyed seeing the hummingbirds, deer, quails, woodpeckers, and the stars in the evening. Would definitely recommend!
William and Judy were very nice. Location was fabulous and they were very helpful! We hope to visit again! All amenities were too knotch as well!
Thank you
We were very blessed to find this beautiful gem during our 2 week evacuation from our home during the Mosquito Fire. There were 5 of us and our 3 dogs. Bill & Judy were very welcoming and made us feel at home. They not only shared their home but also shared their bounty of vegetables from their garden. Every morning and evening you could sit out on the deck and enjoy nature...the birds and families of deer that frequented. The home was cozy and had everything we needed...just like home. We would stay here again and recommend this home to out friends and family. Thank you again Bill & Judy!
We (myself and two friends) had a great 5 night stay, and look forward to coming again in the future. The home has a very new appearance (most likely recently renovated) and is extremely clean. The home is nicely furnished and comfortable, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the main part of the home and a third bedroom attached to the game room (converted garage with a pool table and other games). The home also has a very large porch on the backside of the house that has outdoor tables, chairs, a shade awning, and a propane grill. From the porch we often saw a family of deer (including several baby deer) and many birds. There is also sliding glass doors from the living room and the primary bedroom that go out to the porch, and provide great views of the property and wildlife.
When we first arrived, we noticed that the hosts had left us chocolates and walnuts (from their walnut tree) on the kitchen table. As we settled in more, we discovered that the hosts had also generously provided items in the fridge and cupboards (such as drinks and brand-new condiments). The hosts were extremely friendly and quick to respond if we had any questions about anything during our stay.
The town of Auburn, which is only a short drive away, is a cute historic town that we plan to explore more during our next visit. Additionally, the vacation rental is only about a 1 hour drive to Lake Tahoe, so it’s easy to take day trips to visit the lake and surrounding areas (which are beautiful!). Overall, I highly recommend staying here, we had a great time.

About the host
Hosted by William Pinney
I set aside this property as a Wildlife Preserve, due to the encroachment of human habitation, California wildlife habitat is disappointing more and more. This acreage lets deer, squirrel, skunk, raccoon, Mallard duck, Red Tail Hawk, Red Finch, Robin, Jays, Yellow Finch, Woodpeckers, Red Tail Fox, possums, Canadian Geese, and Quail, our California state bird, find a safe place to exist without fear.
Why they chose this property
This home and surrounding one acre gives Travelers a chance to possibly see some of the wildlife present living their daily lives as they have for centuries. Situated in the foothills of a major mountain range these animals have been present long before humans made the journey to occupy this area. We have all the necessary items to stay comfortably in this home in the present, including a large deck that allows possible viewing of the wildlife. This gives you and children, if you have them, a chance to experience the area as it was long ago. This area is also close to many fun things to experience, such as the rivers and lakes, the small town of Meadow Vista, to the state capital, Sacramento, and everything a large city has to offer. This home gives the Traveler the choice of present day or past, a true lesson in the advancement of our history.
What makes this property unique
This home is fully stocked with everything to make your stay feel like home. A unique chance to see what our world was in the past and into the advancement of present day. Lots of gold country history, beautiful scenery, and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy.
