About this property
Holiday house Quinten for 1 - 7 persons with 4 bedrooms - Detached holiday house
ED Refnr. 419086
Holiday home Eastern Switzerland (Walensee/Flumserberg-Heidiland) for 7 persons approx. 80m2 in Quinten-Au
Chalet with unique, elevated south-facing location in private holiday development in car-free (!) wine village on Lake Walen. Good public transport connections all year round. Arrival by car to Murg, car park at Hafen West. From there take the scheduled boat (runs every hour, journey time 13 min.) to Quinten-Au. The house is only 150 metres from the Au boat station and the (gravel) beach.
The chalet is also an attractive alternative for winter sports: The valley station of the Unterterzen-Tannenbodenalp cable car is just 5 km away. It leads to the attractive Flumserberg ski area with numerous ski lifts, well-maintained cross-country ski trails and the legendary Terza downhill run, which of course requires very good skills and good snow conditions.
In spring, summer and autumn, Quinten-Au is an ideal destination for hikers and water sports enthusiasts. The climate is mild and sheltered from the north wind, where vines, figs, walnut trees and agaves thrive. Lake Walen is a popular sailing and windsurfing area and is known for its regular, mostly daily winds of between 3 and 4 Bft. 5 to 6 Bft are also not uncommon.
The chalet has a magnificent panoramic view of the lake and the Flumserberg. Inside the house there is a cosy living room with fireplace, dining area, integrated kitchen and small bar. An electronically controlled pellet stove provides cosy warmth all year round. The rooms are also equipped with electric oil radiators. If you don't want to miss out on a cosy chat by the fire, you can use the original fireplace at any time.
The south-facing façade has large panoramic sliding windows, 50% of which open onto the very large, stone-paved terrace. The lush planting provides complete privacy and turns the terrace into an additional living space that cannot be seen from outside and can be fully protected from the sun by an electrically operated awning if required.
Upstairs there is a bathroom/toilet, a master bedroom with a double bed, a single bedroom and a balcony room with two joined beds. On the ground floor there is a fourth bedroom with a bunk bed, as well as a cellar with a washing machine, freezer and space for garden furniture and a mobile barbecue. All four bedrooms are equipped with washing facilities. Laundry can be hung up to dry next to the house and in the cellar.
Other sports and leisure activities: Hiking areas in the immediate vicinity, e.g. to the respective end of the lake to Walenstadt or Weesen.
Excursion possibilities: Hikes to Walenstadt and Weesen, to the Murg Valley, to the Flumserberge. Boat trip on Lake Walen. By car/train: Glarnerland, Klöntalersee, Klausen and Pragelpass, Rapperswil on Lake Zurich, Zurich. Bad weather programme: Bad Ragaz thermal baths, Alpamare in Pfäffikon/SZ.
Other living room furnishings (living room 1): Cosy fireplace. 5 upholstered armchairs and 1 living room table. Dining area with extendable table, 7 chairs and a high chair for children. Panoramic window front consisting of two parts, of which the left window can be opened onto the terrace by means of a sliding mechanism. Can be darkened using a solid roller shutter. Two further side windows with shutters or roller blinds.
Other bedroom furnishings (bedroom 1): 2 bedside cabinets. 2 wall lamps, 1 washbasin with mirror and light, wardrobe. Separate access to the bathroom/WC through an additional connecting door. Two windows with curtains and shutters.
Other kitchen equipment (kitchen 1): Separated from the living room by counter. Bar with four seats. Sink with drainer. 1 window with curtain and shutter. Fridge with freezer compartment. Connection to storeroom with dishwasher, freezer, washer-dryer. Plenty of crockery and cookware, cutlery and other kitchen utensils available. Approx. two metre wide kitchen cupboard front with ample storage space.
Sports facilities in the surrounding area: fishing, mountaineering, cycling, skiing (alpine), skiing (cross-country), surfing, diving, tennis, water skiing, sailing
Location description: Quinten is a small, idyllic wine village on Lake Walen. The actual village of "Quinten" is easily accessible on foot from the holiday home in "Au". The approx. 1 km long path leads partly through forest and partly past a large rock formation. In the "Dörfli" there are two lakeside restaurants (one of which is also open in winter), a wine bar (old post office), a gift and souvenir shop (handicrafts made by local ladies), a carving workshop and a chapel. Quinten - one of the last car-free villages in Switzerland - can only be reached on foot (from Weesen and Walenstadt) or by boat from Murg (public car park at the harbour). Both Quinten Dorf and Quinten Au have a landing stage for public boat transport, which are served daily from Murg by scheduled boats such as the "Alvier". The current summer and winter timetable "Murg - Quinten" The boat first calls at the harbour "Au" and then at Quinten village.
