Payton, thank you for staying with us at Whitetail Lodge! We are so glad you enjoyed your cabin and it's location. We look forward to hosting you again!
We had a wonderful stay at Whitetail Lodge! Our family from SD and VA gathered here for Christmas, and it was a great place to spend quality time together. The cabin was well stocked with most of the cooking items we needed, which made cooking meals easy. The pool table and foosball table were a lot of fun. We didn’t watch much TV, but the living room was a comfortable space for everyone to gather. We were glad we brought a Google Chromecast since football was on Netflix during our stay. The TV did have cable, though it was a bit glitchy when we first turned it on. We didn’t use the hot tub, but it was very clean. The location is excellent, and the deck was a highlight—we saw plenty of deer during our stay. One thing to note for winter stays is that the driveway was very icy for most of our visit. We also would have appreciated a bathroom on the lower level, as the cabin has eight beds total (four upstairs, one on the main level, and three downstairs) with one bathroom on the main floor and one upstairs.Overall, it was a great stay, and we would absolutely love to stay again in the future!

We appreciate your feedback about the TV, driveway, and bathroom layout—these are all very helpful notes for future improvements. It means a lot that you’d love to stay again, and we’d be delighted to host you anytime!
We had 10 of us ranging in age from 52 - 2 and there was something for everyone to do here. The nice big dining room was great for all of us! The cabin was great with plenty of room!

We had a great time at this cabin. We had 16 people across 4 families staying and all had plenty of space. The cabin is close to so many things to do and only an hour to Mt. Rushmore/Keystone/Hill City. We loved it and will definitely be back someday.

Hi Kristi, thank you for staying with us at Whitetail Lodge. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we would love to host you again!
This was the perfect family get together! The kitchen became the family game area while the basement was great for the younger crowd. We hadn't been together in one place in over 8 years so it was awesome! We celebrated an early Christmas together and made magical memories that we will treasure forever!

HI Hanna-
You only gave it 3 stars but no actual feedback - if you can message us any issues you had so we can fix them, that would be great! We don't get to stay in the homes ourselves so we would love to know what problems you had while staying with us.
This property is in a great location to enjoy hiking, fishing etc. that is on offer in the Black Hills.
The property itself is very spacious with a great outdoor area. It is big enough that larger groups can split and have areas to themselves, or all hang out together and play pool.
We extended our stay while we were there and it was very easy to call and get the extra day added on.
We all really enjoyed our time there and would not hesitate to stay again when we are in the area again.

The rental was very nice. Could have used another bathroom. The location was good, but the noise from the highway and all the 4-wheelers was not good.

Thanks Chris - we are glad you enjoyed the house. The road construction was a big bummer but unfortunately they didn't let us know how long the project was going so we were unable to pass any information along.
We stayed for 4 nights to celebrate the Easter weekend and loved all that this cabin offered our family. It was spacious with several areas to hang out and also cozy enough for everyone to sit around the table and play games. Great location too! The only reason I gave it a 4 was because it wasn’t as clean as I anticipated for the price. The blinds were dusty, and the carpet is old. It didn’t bother us at all, and we would definitely come here again.

Excellent Northern Hill experience!
This lodge was amazing. You are minutes from Lead and Deadwood, just few miles from Cheyenne Crossing and Spearfish Canyon and on the back side of the ski resorts! If you are into road cycling, it a great starting point for a loop through Lead, Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon.
It slept 13 of us perfectly, but there was plenty of room for everyone to hang out, too, and not feel like we were on top of one another. And the best part was the kitchen for us. It seats 12 so we could all dine together! The wrap around deck was enjoyed immensely as we watched the kids play in the backyard. The inside was great, the pool table and foosball table are quality and fun to play on. The stairs within are not too steep to climb. Fans are provided if you need white noise or to bring in the cool air of summer nights.
We will be sure to book this lodge the next time the whole family comes back to the Northern Black Hills.
The cabin is as advertised but could use a deep clean and some basic maintenance.
Two of the ceiling fans are so poorly mounted that they wobble to the point of looking like they will fly off their mounts. There's two clothes washers and two dryers but one of each doesn't work, with no sign indicating which ones do work.
The hot tub water needed to be changed as there was dirt and a bandaid floating in the bottom.
The windows are getting old and can fall out of their sashes. My 76-year-old mother was hit in the head late at night by the bathroom window as she was trying to close it.
Had some poor communication with the property management company, Deadwood Connections. The listing said no wifi but when I checked someone replied there was wifi (unfortunately we needed to be online for work). When I got the check-in information a few days before our booking it stated "no wifi" so I asked again and this time the answer was that there has never been wifi at this cabin and the previous response was an error.
It's an understandable mix up or mistake and we were credited $200 for the issue but the next response of, "just hotspot from your phone" was less than helpful. There is only 1-2 bars of service with Verizon at this location and we would have had to drive into town for our online meetings except my brother luckily had a verizon hotspot that got slightly better signal once we found a good location for it high up in the house.
Still... overall a great place.
Place was great location, very easy check in process. Driveway needs to be bigger & a bathroom downstairs but overall an excellent stay! Would recommend for large family or group of friends.
