About this property

Beach, Pond, Country? Enjoy all three.

Love the beach, but also like privacy? Dogwood House is ideally situated for those who want to be close to the beach, but also enjoy the sound of the breeze rustling through the trees, a grassy yard and gardens, and room to relax. Use the central air conditioning, or open the windows to feel the breeze and hear the sound of the ocean in the distance, The property is in close proximity to Ninigret Park, Burlingame and Watchaug Pond. Lovingly landscaped 2 acre yard with flowers for cutting during your stay.
We live on the property with our two dogs, but your space is entirely yours with separate entrance.
Monthly or long term summer rental preferred.

About Dogwood House:
Since "we bought a park" in 2017, we have renovated most of the property, and decorated Dogwood house to enhance our favorite things about living in beautiful Charlestown, RI.

The original owners built the home with vaulted ceilings in the kitchen, living and dining area. Our guests often describe the main living are as being in a treehouse due to the large windows and privacy.

The centerpiece of the living room is the soaring stone fireplace. There is a Frame TV, sofa, upholstered rocking arm chair, arm chair with ottoman, and two additional arm chairs.

The stunning dining table has seating for ten, and has breadboard attachments to add 4 more (we've not needed to use them and we'd need to provide mismatched chairs if requested!)

The kitchen has granite counters and newer stainless steel appliances, as well as a wine refrigerator. The refrigerator has ice and water in the door. There is a hallway off the kitchen with a pantry, and the guest bathroom with stand-up shower.

Up the spiral stairs you will find a tv room in the loft with a comfy sofa, board games, desk, and ethernet port. This is a great area to get away, but still be able to hear when called for dinner.

The main living area opens to a large deck with dining table with six chairs, and two conversation areas (4 swivel armchairs with cushions and a sectional sofa), Weber grill, and hot tub.

Down the stairs and under the deck, you will find a container box with lawn games, beyond a fire pit with Adirondack chairs to toast marshmallows, or take the chill off on a cooler night.

The first floor has been completely renovated and furnished. The bedrooms are on the first floor, along with laundry. The laundry closet is where you will find cleaning supplies, and extras.

Two of the bedrooms are en suite, one with a tiled shower, and the other with a bathtub with tile surround. The third bedroom has a small collection of books if you forget to bring one.

All bedrooms have ceiling fan, TV with Amazon Firestick (preloaded with Prime, Hulu, Netflix), blackout shades, closet, dresser, bedside tables, a set of extra sheets, pillows, and blankets. We take pride in providing beautiful bedding, and use mattress encapsulation for dust, waterproof mattress pads, and fresh bed pillows and linens. (Along with varying types of pillows for preference) We also provide towels for bath and beach.

The neighborhood is quiet, and abuts Ninigret Park. There you can access Ninigret Pond, visit the Frosty Drew Observatory for amazing night sky viewing (or just step outside!), visit Thomas Dambo's Trolls, play dic golf, ride the bike crit, walk the path, play basketball, or enjoy weekly foodtruck nights with live music. Check Charlestown Parks and Recreation for schedule.

We are a 5-10 minute drive to Charlestown Beach or Blue Shutters Beach. If you'd like to hike, check out Burligame Park, Carter Preserve or any of the many trail systems in Southern RI.

For dining out, there are many options in Charlestown, Westerly and South Kingstown. Mystic is also a fantastic destination for food or visiting the Seaport or Aquarium. Newport and Jamestown are also an easy drive.

Come to Dogwood, we'll be happy to share our suggestions if you like.

Charlestown Gem!

One of the best vacation rentals! Clean and inviting, this home was beautifully appointed inside and out! Our every need was catered to by Susan and Ted. They are the most gracious and caring hosts we’ve ever encountered! The complimentary wine and coffee plus ample toys for the kids, was so kind and appreciated. The home was stocked with all the essentials, including toiletries and kitchenware. The location was serene and an easy drive to downtown Newport, Providence and Pt. Judith ferries. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck surrounded by nature, especially in the immaculately clean hot tub! Our hosts prepared an info. book about the house that was very helpful and had great recommendations. There are bikes available in the shed to ride around the lovely neighborhood and visit the park, lake, tennis court or observatory. Check-in/Check-out was simple and communication was fast. Wish we could have stayed longer. I highly, highly recommend!

About the host

We have both worked in the hospitality industry, and want you to enjoy your stay at Dogwood House. We understand the nature of vacation rentals, and only expect what any owner would, respect the neighborhood. Good news is that Ninigret Park is one of your neighbors! We are not shy, and if you's like to ask us about things to do, where to go, or where the pasta strainer is, we are available. Otherwise, enjoy your stay!

Why they chose this property

We bought the property for the unique nature of the area. Unlike other beach houses, our neighborhood is made up of larger lots, and has beautiful trees. A peaceful walk down to our association dock will allow you to put in kayaks or SUP and paddle around Ninigret Pond. If you enjoy natural features, we have a wildlife refuge next door, hiking trails across the way, and even an observatory for looking at the stars in Ninigret Park.

What makes this property unique

Dogwood House has a large yard for playing, privacy and entertaining. We will provide a home that feels homey with all of the things we feel are essential in a quality rental.
We have a hot tub, and a bonus loft space with a sofa/twin trundle beds for checking in with work, or reading a book.
We have central air, a must in New England summer. There is a full size HE washer and dryer.
