About this property
Country house in the olive grove with breathtaking views for every season
Greece has introduced a new “climate crisis resilience fee” for tourists this year. The new tax on houses over 80 square meters is set to be €10 per night. It can be paid by arrival.
The house is located in the Southwestern Peloponnese, 14 km from the town Kyparissia and 1 km from the village Agaliani on 2 hectares of land with 145 olive trees. The charming, secluded location is just right for those who want to relax in a lovely tranquility but want to inquire different sides of Greece. The wide view of the sea and the overgrown with olive trees countryside to the city Kyparissia is stunning.
To the sea one needs a 20 minutes. In the wider area, there are several beaches to choose from.
From Athens is 250 km to Agaliani, the nearest airport is 64 km away in Kalamata.
The country house was built in 2000 with much love and care. It has a tiled roof, the living area is 89m². There is Internet access (Wi-Fi). The four rooms are arranged side by side, so that a sliding door leads from every room on the surrounding terrace. This is wonderful at all (day) times, because no one is disturbed when several people you live there. All windows and doors are fitted with fly screens. In summer, the house is cool, and in winter it can centrally (oil heating in every room) and the chimney are heated. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired, there is everything you need, especially in the kitchen and bathroom but also in the other areas. A car is to be needed there, but you need anyway to explore the interesting Peloponnese.
The room
The house has a living room with kitchen and fireplace, a dining room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The north-western bedroom is furnished with a double bed, folding bed, large closet and private bathroom with shower and washing machine, the southeast has a double bed, a large closet, desk and TV with DVD player. are the other spaces between these rooms.
Above the large bathroom has an open bottom where a sixth person can sleep, which like most children well.
The house is ideal for two couples or a couple with children. There are books, games and DVDs. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, dishwasher, microwave, kettle.
To round the house
The house is surrounded by a large terrace. We like to sit on the covered square in front of the dining room and enjoy the views and the shade of an ancient olive tree. The children love to climb the tree, on whose branches a hammock is fastened, or playing table tennis and basketball behind the house. Very nice is also the seat on the roof, from where you can watch the starry sky particularly well.
The wider environment - an overview
In the house you can find a complete list of the beaches, attractions, archaeological sites, tavernas and bars in the area.
beaches
There are beaches with cafes, bars and facilities for beach volley and also hardly visited beaches where you even in August will find peace and solitude. On calm beaches in the Bay of Kyparissia, the nature reserve of sea turtle Caretta Caretta lays in the summer nights in the sand from their eggs. In the former station of Ai Giannaki, 8km from Agaliani shows ARCHELON, the Society for the Protection of the sea turtle in Greece, an exhibition of everything worth knowing about these rare animals.
On a day trip to the south you can swim in the crystalline waters of the famous voidokilia and the town of Pylos, including the excavations near visit (60km).
waterfalls
A shorter trip takes you through the village Platania to Neda River (18km). After a short hike you reach the waterfalls and a dip in the cool crystal clear water that falls from the mountain, forming two small lakes.
Archaeological sites
Anyone wishing to combine archeology with the adventure can visit the Mycenaean beehive tombs in Peristeria (17km) and descend from there in an impressive gorge. It is advisable to plastic shoes (Crocs) dabeizuhaben, with whom you can go through the low water to look at the big stalactites close.
On a day trip to Olympia archaeological sites and the temple of Apollo Epicurius (36km) are easily accessible and also the ancient Messene (49km) with its mighty walls.
Acquaintance with food and drink
Upcoming taverns are in Agaliani and Sidirokastro and the turnoff to the beach of Ai Giannaki. On the way to a trip to Kiparissia Myloi (17km) is worthwhile, there to see the water mill and to drink a delicious Greek coffee. In Kiparissia you find cafes, taverns and bars for all tastes. Especially nice taverns and small bars are near the castle ruins in the listed Oberstadt.
Shops
In the village Kopanaki (20km) every Sunday large weekly market with fruits, vegetables, fish, but also with clothing and household goods. On the road to Kiparissia there are bakery, butcher, fruit and vegetable shop, a mini market and also two supermarkets (Lidl, Carrefour). In the city itself there are all kinds of shops.
