Hocking Hills A-Frame Log/Stone Cabin-TAX INCLUDED
Welcome to the Cabin by the Pond, a hexagon A Frame cabin in the Hocking Hills at Laurel Springs Farm.
When comparing rates, know that all lodging taxes are included in the base price on our listing.
Enter the cabin to a remarkable full wall of windows and wood slices that highlight the 28-foot towering A Frame. In addition to the structure itself, this cabin has many distinctive features including the first-floor suspended porch-swing style queen bed, a rolling bookcase door, a live-edge drop down dining table. There is even a large red slipper tub with rainfall shower that accents a repurposed slate wall.
The cabin is complete with a fully equipped galley-style kitchen, stained concrete flooring throughout the first floor, sliding patio doors along with two sets of functional French doors with a third French door set as a backdrop for the suspended log bed. The reading area in the loft features Amish-built rockers from which you can watch the sunsets and a queen log bed.
Guests will enjoy the fresh spring water drawn from the private multi-home spring water system heated by the on-demand hot water system.
Outdoor features include the private round hot tub, park style charcoal grill set inside cultured stone, propane fire pit, front deck with built-in benches, patio table and seating and “Mom’s” flower garden.
Secluded, yet close to Hocking Hills Parks and local amenities and adventures. Several acres out of the 67-acre farm are available for you to roam, including access to Lance's Pond and the fishing shack where you will find fishing poles and basic tackle for catch and release fishing. Ask about our seasonal offerings including blueberries, blackberries, chestnuts and other fruits from our orchard and even flowers are available with separate arrangements. Perfect for newlyweds, anniversaries, birthday celebrations and other special occasions and we very much appreciate the part we get to play in such beautiful memories.
NOTE: This cabin sleeps up to four guests but can be rented along with our other five-star rated Cabin on the Hill (www.vrbo.com/974622). Together the cabins accommodate a total of 10 guests.
++Base price is for 2 guests - each additional guest a incur nightly fee
++*Must be 25 or older to rent the cabin and must be able to provide a valid ID.
++*No parties are permitted.
++Unregistered guests will result in immediate eviction without refund or an immediate payment for each unregistered guest must be paid at that time.
++the cabin is not suited to small children due to its location and steep library loft ladder and high railings.
++Although we are avid animal lovers, we do not allow pets as it is dangerous for them and for our animals.
++Other restrictions are addressed in the Rental Agreement.
Want to explore the Hocking Hills State Parks? We are a short drive to many of the parks and guests also have access to a trail on the hilltop on our property.
Want to go horseback riding? The Spotted Horse Ranch is less than a mile from our farm. Or go canoeing or rafting in nearby Logan or rock climbing at the new High Rock Adventures in Rockbridge just off Route 33. Need to grab some groceries, gas or visit a local eatery? We are just 3 miles from Laurelville, featuring the world famous Laurelville cider or stop by The Ridge Inn for Jo's famous donuts! So, there are conveniences and attractions nearby, but they are completely out of site as you go into seclusion at the cabin!
Other on-site activities such as walking the trails on the hill overlooking the canyon, barns and pond. Drop a line to catch a fish - we offer catch-and-release bluegill and bass and the occasional turtle from the dock on our spring-fed pond using our simple homemade cane poles. Bait is available in Laurelville, or use a piece of hot dog to catch a bluegill!
Bring your hiking boots and enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of the big hill or even spread out a blanket and picnic and enjoy the one of a kind view.

About the host
Hosted by Brenda & Eric Schmidt

Laurel Springs Farm is a 67-acre family farm located 3 miles from the Laurelville in the Hocking Hills owned by Eric and Brenda Schmidt. After a fraudulent business merger that resulted in us losing everything but our land out here in the country, we decided to try our hand at farming. While challenging in many ways, the work is very rewarding and there is always new things to see, do and learn. We feel blessed that we had this beautiful land to sculpt into our own, have a place for family to visit away from the city and consider the work our exercise which is great for our health!
We are proud parents of 5 grown children and a growing number of grandchildren. Our family inspires us to try to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
We strive to practice sustainable agriculture, promoting the improvement of our whole environment.

Why they chose this property
Unique 67-acre property and cabin located in the Hocking Hills. Eric and Brenda personally built most of the unique features in the cabin, although we hired the Amish to build the frame of the cabin and build some furniture. This is a very personal property to us and we are pleased to offer it to guests to enjoy as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Suspended, one of a kind porch swing style log queen bed in master, another custom log bed (not suspended) located in the loft. Stained concrete floors, live edge vanity and dining table which can drop down out of the way; the front wall is made of wood slices harvested by the Amish for us from trees taken down in the tornado evening a few years back. There rolling bookcase door leading to the laundry/utility area. Large red slipper tub that just begs for someone to sit back and relax and enjoy. Most features are completely handmade including drop cloth curtains throughout highlighted with giant safety pins, fringe and other embellishments. Custom front bench to enjoy the firepit and night sky. Custom charcoal grill (park style inset). Mom's flower garden featuring many of Brenda's mother's favorites.
The cabin is secluded, yet close to Hocking Hills Parks and local amenities and adventures.
