Close enough to the beach and golfing as well as other attractions. The neighborhood is very nice and walking distance to Yacht club. Would definitely stay here again.
This home is perfect , the design and decor , the functionality of the kitchen area is great the pool and spa were so convenient and comfortable, we used the boat lift and the garage was a big bonus for being able to keep the car out of the hot sun , the house had everything you could need including office space , we rented a boat from speed dock boat rentals and went out a couple days to north captiva it was amazing, dolphin everywhere including right here in the river one morning from the hot tub, Sigi was great when I had a question . The house was clean with plenty of pool and bath towels , paradise ✨
Property wasn't cleaned prior to arrival and major construction next door.
We arrived at the house 45 mins after allowed check-in time and the house had not been cleaned from the previous guests. Garbage was left around the house, dirty dishes were on counter, bed linens were dirty, the refrigerator was full of leftover food. We called the property manager and he said he wasn’t alerted that we were checking in even though he had booked 2 weeks in advance. He told us he couldn’t get cleaners there that day and said we could stay at his older property not far away that wasn’t on the water. We declined because we wanted to stay in the property we booked and didn’t want to load/unload our car during hurricane/tropical storm Eta. He showed up 20 minutes later at the property with the cleaners and said it would take at least 3 hours to clean. So we had to leave for 3 hours with no place to stay. This is VERY unacceptable during COVID-19 times!!
When we got back it appeared the bottom fitted sheet on the bed had not been washed as there were hairs all over the sheet. So we had to wash it ourselves before we could use the bed (this was after 9pm at this point). One of the garbage cans was not emptied either. The house just didn’t feel very ‘clean’ at all.
On the 3rd night of our stay the house next door started to be torn down with excavators. The excavators and other large construction equipment woke us up at 7am everyday after that and literally shook the house all day long. We talked to the construction lead and he said that property would be under construction for at least the next 6 months. I would not recommend staying here during that time as it will be VERY loud starting at 7am each weekday. You won’t be able to relax by the pool either due to this noise.
At checkout the property manager came to the property and told us we had to pay him cash for the electricity used during our stay. That wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the listing! We even looked through the VRBO listing with the property manager and it did not say we had to pay for electricity. He said he was sure it was in there somewhere and would not let us leave. We ended up having to pay him the cash he demanded (which I’m sure he won’t report to the IRS.) After leaving we noticed some German text in the VRBO listing that could have referred to electricity, but we do not speak German so shouldn’t be expected to know what that text said.
The house itself was very nice, but we cannot recommend it due to all of the above issues.

Response from VrboOwner on 1 December 2020
Dear John,
we are very sorry, that the villa wasn’t cleaned and want to apologize again.
It is the first time ever that we forget to inform the cleaners.
On the spot we refunded you the first night completely in cash to compensate for this problem.
Furthermore we get the villa cleaned with 3 cleaners as soon as possible.
The excavator work took only a short time and is of course meanwhile finished.
The property is large enough to find a quiet place even with ongoing construction work.
Of course we informed you before about the costs for electric usage. You will find this information as well on this web site.
You even send as a separate inquiry about the electric usage and we answered in English.
It is very confusing that you write now, that you weren’t informed about costs for electric usage.
We are sorry that you could not enjoy your stay at our beautiful villa Bequia as much as all our other guests.
Best Regards
We stayed in Bequia for 8 nights with our family. The home itself is spacious, clean and luxurious. We spent alot of time in the pool and the jacuzzi and enjoying the outdoor living area. Morning walks and bike rides were so enjoyable - its a short walk to a park, the beach and the Boathouse. We rented a boat for a few days and that was fun - although it was very windy. We had lots of family dinners at the house and the kitchen is well equipped. The butlers pantry was a life saver - just to keep snacks and drinks - and having two refrigerators was very convenient. Overall we loved the house - the ONLY thing I would say is if you have toddlers/small children - the river side has some drop offs and a set of stairs that goes to the dock. You would have to be diligent with supervision, but that wasn't a problem at all for us. As far as the electric goes - you pay that at the end of your stay - we used the air conditioning and the pool heater and spa heater all week. The total was 165 USD. We felt that was reasonable as we kept the house cool and the pool warm all week. We would not hesitate to stay at the house again - it was absolutely a great experience. Sigi the manager was very accomodating and easy to deal with. THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful home with us!
Worst Experience from VRBO rental - Property Mismanaged -
It is nice to have a great vacation and to have an experience that creates an exceptional review. Unfortunately, after several years of booking through VRBO, the streak has ended. Though the house is beautiful and satisfied my expectations, that’s where it stops.
There were full trash dumpsters and large bags of trash in front of the main entrance(we were told the trash had not picked up in two weeks and we would have to deal with it until our 4th day) Once in the house, after dealing with the flies and smell, the view was amazing but was short lived. We walked out to the back pool area and the pool deck tiles were loose and in disarray. The pool was dirty with trash floating in the water. We walked down to the dock, noticed the railing was removed and laying by the stairs, the concrete retaining wall for the pool is cracked and wiring exposed, and old chairs stacked up making the view very trashy. Once the house attendant showed for the “orientation” we learned quickly, he was only checking how many people were at the house. We know this because we asked questions about the house and the comment was “it’s all in the book, I'm just here to make sure of the number of people staying”.
The next issue and probably the first you should know. The price for the house listed is for up to 4 people. Even though the house states sleeps 8, there are additional fees for all people over 4 per night. You will not see this until after you’ve booked the house and made the deposit, which is non refundable . Since you are not getting anything extra for 1, 4, or 8 people, it's confusing why there is an extra charge.
During our stay the A/C and Spa malfunctioned. After calling the attendant and he stating someone would be there the next day, then calling again the next day, we waited three days for someone to finally show up. A/C issues in the Summer & dealing with the pool not working correctly was a huge frustration, especially since the pool was the main reason for renting this property.
This brings me to the last issue. The last day the attendant showed up to bill for the power usage. We discussed the issues with the house, a/c, pool and made notes and agreed, that due to malfunctions we should not be responsible for the increased power usage. The property manager still will not address the issues and charged the full fees.
If you rent this house, you will quickly realize they care less if you enjoy the stay and how dare you bring up issues with the property.

Hello Anthony,
we like reviews with criticism and suggestions, this helps us to improve our service and to make the guests' stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
In good order, we would like to comment on your review as follows.
The week before your arrival we had a Tropical Storm (Elsa) in South-West Florida.
For this reason the garbage cans were not emptied. There was no service after the storm. When I checked you in I explained it to you and you showed understanding. That was also the reason why leaves and foliage from the neighboring trees and bushes were in the Pool.
The briefing and explanation at home took place properly and completely according to the checklist.
We have everything for you explained and pointed out again that this information is also intended in the book.
It was also talked about. How many people you rented the house with.
When you first asked for a rental on April 19th, you stated that 1 person is renting the house.
You were then asked how many people you are. It was explained to you that the base price is for 4 people and each additional person costs extra.
Then you write back on June 3rd "I promise we will be the best quests you've ever had"
Then you ask in your email from June 4th for a "discount"
In your email from June 11th you state 9 adult and 1 child.
So you were already familiar with this topic regarding the number of people before your arrival.
The air conditioning was OK, it was only in one bedroom, not as cold as in the other rooms.
On Monday, July 12th, you sent me a text message about the air conditioning.
I was at the house on Tuesday, July 13th and told your fellow traveler, that the AC man will come the next day (Wednesday July 14th).
The mechanic was there at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
When I talked to you and your fellow travelers, I always had the impression that you have a good time and a pleasant stay.
That only changed on the last day when you were supposed to pay for the electricity. Although you were informed about it when you checked in and it is also in the advertising on VRBO.
When you checked out, you pointed out that if you have to pay for the electricity, you will write a bad review.
We had a great Thanksgiving 2020 thanks to this house. 8 adults and 2 kids stayed for 5 nights. The house had everything we needed. The coffee machine wasn't working upon our arrival and the house manager brought us a brand new one. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable and the view from every room was spectacular. The bathrooms had towels and soaps, there were extra blankets in the closets if needed and the laundry room had pool towels. The kitchen was equipped with the basics for cooking including pots, pans, utensils, and Tupperware. The two refrigerators came in handy for our Thanksgiving feast. We ended up bringing some of our own cookware only because we didn't realize the house had most essentials. We were able to cook two turkeys and make all of our side dishes for our 8 people. It was an excellent house! We will definitely stay there again in the future. Thank you to the house manager for everything and to the owners for opening their amazing home to us.
