Our retreat has the atmosphere of a high elevation “refuge” in the Alps, with modern amenities and an original design, located right in the Kirkwood valley. Three alcove beds with beautiful views, a comfortable couch, a kitchenette, and a barbecue on the deck, all make for an easy transition into vacation mode. Previous visitors have loved the space and found sleeping in the cedar alcoves incredibly restful. Solar PV panels and tankless water heater lower the environmental cost of maintaining a cabin at 7800 ft. The retreat is child safe and family friendly. It comes with a collection of children’s books, puzzles, board games and movies. While it has three double beds, size wise it is designed for families or groups of two to four people. During ski season, you can cross-country ski and snow shoe right off the deck or have the shuttle take you to downhill ski lifts a few minutes away. In the summer, simply hike out to the adjacent national forest or any of the surrounding lakes. It is a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful valley.

Perfect studio for a family- had everything you need and host is lovely! The beds are fun- in little cubbies so kids loved it and they were comfortable. We would stay again
We had such a nice stay here. The pictures accurately reflect the fun sleeping situation, with three separate sort of sleeping cubbyholes. It’s a small space, but there were lots of places to relax and play board games and eat. Bertrand is a very nice host.
Perfect place for a ski weekend in Kirkwood. The kitchen and small barbecue were great for cooking. The beds were fun and very comfortable with nice windows to watch the snow falling at night. Free shuttle to the hill was convenient. Host was friendly and helpful. Will absolutely stay here again.
We loved staying here. It was so comfortable and the location convenience is unbeatable. We especially love the bookshelf with a wonderful selection to entertain our kids as well as games from our childhood. Would definitely return next time we are back for another ski vacation!
Awesome experience from start to finish! Clean, cozy, quiet cabin. Our family had a great time, made our first family ski trip very memorable. High recommend!
We lucked out and were able to book this property on relatively short notice. We loved the bed nooks and had plenty of space in the rest of the living area. Heat worked well, which was wonderful, given the cold. Communication with the owner and information found in the property was great. We'd definitely reserve this property again.
The accommodations were perfect for our family of four (including our two teenage daughters) while we skied. The place was cozy and clean. Bertrand was great at communicating, very friendly and helpful. Overall he was a great host. It snowed 55” in four days which made the skiing epic.

Bertrand was a gracious host. I rook my wife and daughter there to ride out a huge snow storm and it was absolutely the perfect place to be during a huge dump. The place was so cozy and comfortable. Its walking dostance to the lifts. We loved the alcove beds. It
My 24yo son, his best friend and I shared this modestly sized studio which is underneath a much larger house. It was perfect for us. The bed cubbies are cozy and comfortable. The stove top in the kitchenette has two burners but is perfect for making a quick pasta dinner and eggs and bacon in the morning. All is just right for a small family or a guys weekend in the snow.
We were lucky to find this gem as a search for snow forced us into a last minute pivot to Kirkwood. The space was perfectly suited for our family of 5 (kids 6/8/10). We loved the sleeping alcoves and were treated to falling asleep one night watching snow come down outside. The owner was very accommodating and responsive to several questions that we had, and the shuttle service to the lifts was seamless and easy. I will definitely seek out this property again if/when we return to Kirkwood.
A blizzard snowed us in. Due to the storm, shuttles weren’t running to the slopes, and our car not quite hefty enough to handle the intense storm. Though our ski plans were hampered. Bertrand was accommodating and quite helpful. It was a cozy place to spend a long stormy weekend.

Absolutely not worth the price
Although the place is small and practical, it is definitely not worth the price at all. We pay over 1000 dolara for two nights on this tiny little place we’re the heat was controlled the hot water as well. We were cold and I felt I was in a hostel where everything is controlled. I am paying to stay here and everything was so limited. Parking was not right outside and the owners blocked us exactly at the time we needed to leave. I felt so taken advantaged. Definitely NOT worth for the price I do not know who the owner thing he is to raise the price so much for what he offers.

Once in a sparse while, we have troublesome guests. In this case, it looks like there was domestic troubles in this family, with (I guess with unit layout) someone barricaded in the restroom and the other one banging the door and yelling so loud that the whole neighborhood could hear. Not a comfortable situation!
My guess is this resulted in a mindset to criticize rather than seek explanation or help.
Indeed, there are no restrictions on hot water (tankless water heater thus not limited quantity) and heating. There are instructions in the unit on how to use the thermostat and hot water recirculation (to minimize waiting for the hot water), but you may have to read them to understand.
The room itself was perfect with lovely beds, nice views and enough essentials, however the towels provided were rough and stiff. Access to the room could be challenging for some. The 40 foot sloping dirt path to the apartment from the unloading area was fine for someone in good physical condition but a struggle for my 87 year old mum and my friend with a knee condition. We stayed 4 enjoyable nights, but that pathway was not fun!
I give it four stars for the parking lot AND the road to the house is very narrow because of the snow

Haha; guilty. There was a significant storm just before your arrival. It is hard work to have even a narrow access. I wonder why booking a studio in winter at 7800 feet elevation if snow is a concern and skiing not the focus!
We loved Tynej, a great, cute and cosy studio and perfect base camp. It feels more spacious than the pictures look - just what we needed for a few days for our family of four. Our kids loved the bed nooks, and it’s a short shuttle ride to the Timber Creek ski school and family area. Bertrand was a great host - communicative and available for any questions.
This was a great experience, and Bertrand and his wife are great hosts. Very responsive. Researched options for EV charging for me (no good ones nearby, sadly), offered extra freezer space, and spent about half an hour with me sharing their favorite local hikes and sending me AllTrails links. The space itself is essentially a studio or in law unit, on the lower level of their home. But it's as nice a studio as you could wish for; everything seemed to be of high quality, the decor was lovely and appropriate to the setting, the living area is large and comfortable, and the kitchen is small, but functional. And right outside the front door is a meadow that was full of wildflowers. Would of course be a great base for skiing on winter, too, with service by the Kirkwood shuttle. Highly recommended!
Place was perfect for my family of 5 while snowboarding. Owner was very prompt and helpful with communication and check in. The view was nice and very relaxing in afternoons after done snowboarding. Just right amount of amenities to cook a couple meals in the rental.
We loved it. The studio is well-planned and well-equipped. And the books collection is great. Really perfect for a family. Close to slopes - we even managed to ski down almost to it :)
Easy access to the studio. Great for a weekend retreat with the family. The hosts were gracious and willing to give suggestions to local attractions (don't miss the Potholes!)
This studio cabin was a much-needed getaway for us after months in quarantine and not having stepped out of the house. If you're into stargazing you can see an incredible amount of stars right from the porch at night We even spotted the Andromeda galaxy. Really loved the stay! Everything was very clean, the check-in process was easy. The grounds near this studio are so beautiful. It's also only 5 mins away from the ski resort if you are looking for that. Highly recommend it!
