Mountain Biking Family Getaway

The Bayou Chateau was absolutely perfect for us, the grounds were perfectly kept, and all appliances/mattresses/linens were premium quality. Access to the main floor and deck was easy, which was a prime consideration for our elderly dog. Proximity to the MRV and bike trails, dining, and grocery/farmers markets was superb; as well as easy travel to tourist spots along rte 100. This was my 17th year visiting Vermont and Bayou Chalet is one of the best rentals we have had!

U14 Eastern Championships

We had a wonderful stay at the Bayou Chalet. We came with 2 Dads and our 2 sons for a 4 day ski race at Mt. Ellen at Sugarbush. The house was perfect for us. Clean, comfortable and a great mud room for all of our gear. We were very close to both mountain bases and a short drive to Waitsfield. John the owner was super responsive and kept checking in to make sure we were having a good time. We all said that we loved the place and would definitely come back!

Great long weekend to ski at Sugarbush

We enjoyed a great long weekend staying at the Bayou Chalet and John was a wonderful host. We had 4 adults, 4 kids and the space worked out very well for us. House was very clean and offered all the amenities we needed for our stay. The mudroom entrance area was well utilized with all our ski equipment. We had great luck with the weather with snow and the proximity to Sugarbush Mountain (less than 5 min drive) helped us get in full days of skiing! John was flexible with check in and check out times as well.

Family Sugarbush Ski Trip

We really appreciate how quickly John and Alyssa responded to our questions. Being their first guests at the house, they went out of their way to prepare a house that was well-equipped and cheerfully welcoming. We are a family that loves to eat and having a kitchen that was well organized made feeding our group easy and enjoyable. We also love to ski and the close proximity to the mountain was an added plus. The sauna was a big hit with our adult children. Thank you for having us and we hope to return soon.

A Nice, Cozy Chalet That's Close to Sugarbush

This cozy chalet sits astride Golf Course Road only a few minutes from the Sugarbush base area. It provides a wonderful view of the mountain and overlooks a relaxing wooded section of the golf course area. There's easy access to the local market as well as the club house for food and refreshment in the warmer months. You can reach Mt Ellen via German Flats Road in about 7 minutes and Route 100 in about 5ish. This house comfortably accommodates guests with a well-stocked kitchen, and finely furnished living area and bedrooms. The linens, towels, etc. are fresh and showers (and sauna) are just what the doctor ordered after a long day on the slopes.The owners are attentive to your needs and reply quickly to any questions you might have. We visited in March but we're looking forward to returning this summer and catching some rays while sipping cocktails on the large deck after hiking and biking with friends and family.

Perfect Christmas Vacation Spot!

We loved the chalet for our destination family Christmas getaway! It was so comfortable and had everything we needed! The kitchen has all the necessary cooking and serving items. The beds are comfortable with nice bedding. The chalet was close to Sugarbush for skiing and we were able to sled on the golf course next to the house. John was amazing to work with. He was extremely responsive and wanted to assure all went well. The sauna was a bonus. I wish we could have used the fireplace but understand it’s an insurance issue. We would definitely return. It felt like a home away from home!!

Cozy with a great location

I would definitely recommend Bayou Chalet for those traveling with family and pets. The chalet has ample sleeping areas and a very well thought out layout. We went to Warren to primarily ski, the chalet is a 7 min ride from the lifts at Sugarbush. This place looks like it is great in summer as well. It is close to all the Mad River Valley attractions. Definitely would love to re-visit.

Amazing stay

We truly enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable house. It was a pleasure to communicate with our host John. From shortly after I booked until we checked out John was very attentive. The valuable information he provided and the ease of communication was very helpful. The house was well stocked with everything we could possibly need, including both a water and food bowl for our dog. The bathroom amenities were high quality and the house was very clean. The large deck was very relaxing and overlooked the golf course. The foliage was spectacular. We will definitely be back for a return stay!.

Beautiful house, amazing back deck, great location and wonderful owner who was quick to respond to any questions. I traveled with my husband two children, ages three and 10, my parents and dog. It was the perfect amount of space, very clean and had everything that you would need as a traveler. I have come up to Vermont and this area every year since I was about three years old. This is definitely in my top 2 favorite places I’ve rented. Our visits to this part of Vermont normally are in the summer, but this awesome location has me itching to come for a winter visit! Great house in a great location

Wonderfully equipped house tucked in the Green Mountains. Perfect central location for all the places on our list to visit and also perfect for simply chilling and visiting nearby Warren Falls. Plenty of room for the four of us to spread out or come together in the evenings to play one of the board games at the big dining room table. Very convenient to have linens, towels, paper products, and lots of kitchen supplies provided. John, we understand why you call this home your "little slice of heaven"! We plan to return!

Spring Ski Getaway

This house was perfect for our needs! It was very close to the base lodge and parking lot for Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush. Getting in to the property was very easy and John was always available to help us with any questions we had. It was very warm (almost too warm to ski!) but the deck was lovely and we enjoyed sitting out there. We cooked in one night and found the kitchen to have everything we could possibly need. The beds were comfortable and the sauna was very relaxing at the end of a ski day. We try to get up to Sugarbush at least once during the ski season and we will definitely be looking to rent here again.

Presidents’ Day weekend 2022 Ski trip

The bayou chalet was a great place for our family of four and another couple to stay for Presidents’ Day skiing. The chalet itself was very comfortable, with lots of space for us all. All of the beds, linens, kitchenware, washer /dryer and couches appear new. We even had a spare bedroom with queen bed that didn’t get used. For our ski trip, we particularly liked the huge mud room at the entrance to house boots/jackets and general gear. The chalet was warm and cozy with everything that we needed to have a great extended weekend. We can only imagine what the huge deck overlooking the golf course would be like in summer. It looks like a great place to grill and have dinner. As for the location, it’s a few short minutes to Sugarbush mountain, but we actually skied Stowe, about a 45 minute drive away. Passing through Waitsfield, Waterbury and Stowe on the way there and back gave us tons of options for dining, drinks and shopping. We will definitely be back. Thanks!
