About this property
Le Lavoir - MANCEY - Gîte
A charming and authentic 17th-century Burgundian residence, steeped in history and meticulously restored with the utmost care, offers a tranquil retreat nestled beside a narrow lane and a safe, enclosed stream. Located in the heart of a picturesque, centuries-old hamlet (home to a majestic 16th-century fortified house), it is just steps from vineyards and a rare, listed, three-hundred-year-old oak tree, a true emblem of the area. Situated in the gently rolling countryside of Tournugeoise, a protected ZNIEFF (Zone Naturelle d'Intérêt Écologique, Faunistique et Floristique) renowned for its rich flora and fauna, this peaceful haven blends viticulture, agriculture, and unspoiled nature. Nestled on a plateau of vineyards and idyllic hedged meadows, it is surrounded by wooded hills and wild forests (offering splendid panoramic views as far as Mont Blanc on a clear day!), and adjacent to a vast Natura 2000 site. The spacious gîte offers excellent comfort. An unusual kitchen nestled in a historic turret beneath a magnificent star-shaped roof structure. A warm, rustic-chic feel, soft and inviting, enhanced by meticulous heritage restoration (a magnificent fireplace mantel, stone lintels, cornice and corbels, beams, ceilings and original floors, period molded doors, etc.). Full of charm and character. A serene, cozy, and inviting atmosphere. A pleasant, intimate enclosed gravel courtyard (tucked behind the house) with a naturally shaded terrace under trees. Composition: Semi-detached house adjoining the owners' barn (adjacent to their residence / complete independence). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Electric heating + wood-burning stove. The gîte is on the first floor (duplex with a split level / accessed via an external staircase). First floor: living room/kitchen/lounge, 1 bedroom (double bed 160x200cm), shower room, separate WC. Second floor: 1 bedroom (2 single beds 80x200cm). Small balcony + enclosed courtyard/terrace (80m² / gravel) + bicycle storage + private parking. Supermarket 5 km. All amenities 5.5 km. A delightful "cocoon" brimming with charm, just steps from the vineyards in the heart of a picturesque little typical hamlet! A charming, authentic 17th-century Burgundian residence full of character, steeped in history and meticulously restored according to the rules of the art - set back from a pleasant, intimate little enclosed garden - located in a quiet area 5.5 km from the charming market town of Tournus nestled on the banks of the Saône (A6 motorway & all amenities on site / world-renowned abbey site & river marina). In the heart of the South Burgundy massif (a superb wild area partly protected in the Natura 2000 zone), in the middle of the Tournuge countryside of gentle rolling mountains (protected in ZNIEFF for its rich ecosystems), a soothing preserved setting combining vineyards, deep forests & hedged meadows, nestled on a plateau between the green Grosne valley & the Saône valley, at the crossroads of the vineyards of the Mâconnais & the Côtes Chalonnaises ("Burgundy Wine Route" & "Great Wine Route" to discover). An ultra-privileged location on the routes of the Romanesque churches circuit, several marked footpaths including a "green walk" (connected to a vast network of identical hiking trails, to be covered on foot or by mountain bike), a marked mountain bike route linked to the renowned GTM mountain bike circuit labeled "FFC mountain bike" (Grand Tour of the South Burgundy Massif attached to a vast network of similar marked mountain bike trails crisscrossing the massif), and the "Cycloroute71" (Tour of the Saône-et-Loire by bike), 4 km from the GR76 (adjacent to the historic "Monks' Way" which once linked the abbeys of Citeaux and Cluny, as well as the famous GR of the "ViaCluny"), 5.5 km from the Blue Way (along the Saône) adjacent to the Green Way of the "Great Loop of Southern Burgundy", and 17 km from the renowned downhill mountain bike track of Mont Saint-Romain. In the heart of the Tournugeois-Clunisois (labeled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), at the crossroads of the Mâconnais, the Chalonnais & the Bresse Bourguignonne, rich in magnificent landscapes and a unique historical heritage (notably medieval & Romanesque). Ideally located for easily exploring all of southern Burgundy: 6 km from the medieval village of Brancion, 13 km from the rare Truchère Nature Reserve (a remarkable protected ecosystem), 13 km from Cuisery, listed among the very exclusive 8 "Book Villages" of France, 14 km from Lugny (the leading wine-producing winery in Burgundy), 18 km from the charming medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National (a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté"), 26 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (a designated "Town of Art and History"), 28 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 33 km from Louhans (capital of Bresse), 36 km from Mâcon (Mâcon-Loché TGV station 44 km away), and 37 km from the medieval village of Mont-Saint-Vincent. (One of Burgundy's most beautiful sites, boasting a truly unique 360° panoramic viewpoint), 38 km from the magnificent landscape jewel of the Roche de Solutré & Vergisson, a designated "Grand Site de France," and 47 km from Le Creusot TGV station. An inspiring and rejuvenating retreat, exuding the art of living, for a refreshing and relaxing "green escape" nestled among ancient stones, perfect for couples or families!
