FLY FISHING Sitting on arguably the finest water of the upper frying pan river, LCCR offers some of the best fly fishing in the valley. Encompassing both sides of a half mile of private water, guests can avoid the crowds and spend hours fishing your own stretch of either frying pan or lime creek.
The river fishes truly world class with the opportunity of catching the pinnacle 20 inch brown or rainbow lurking with every cast. Fish numbers are healthy in both the river and creek as guests having 50 fish days is not uncommon. The current ranch record stands at a 27inch brown caught in the waterfall pool of the river.
As the namesake goes, the northern expansion of the property follows up the steep draws of Lime Creek Canyon. Wading a short distance up the confluence, you will find one of the most vibrant ecosystems between the canyon walls. A truly rare experience of meandering crystal clear water, creating technical riffles and pools, holding surprisingly large browns.
Another special event at LCCR is the fall migration of Kokanee salmon from ruedi reservoir. Every year thousands of Kokanee make their way to their final staging point on the property in attempts to spawn. the clouds of Kokanee are a sight to behold and add another special angling feature.
Also on the property we have a stocked pond adding easy accessibility for anglers or wildlife viewing.
While enjoying the benefits of the private water at LCCR, a short drive or hike and the fishing opportunities and variances are limitless. Float or wade the gold medal waters of the roaring fork, catch plus size trout below reudi, monster lake trout in the reservoir, bring home a limit of pan-size yellow perch or rainbows, or hike one of the hundred alpine lakes in the forest, the opportunities are endless.

RANCH HISTORY Situated in the once booming mining community named Calcium, Lime Creek Canyon Ranch showcases the historical remnants of centuries past. Most notably the twin lime kilns built in 1888, which are the most intact kilns remaining in Colorado. Recently bought and preserved by Pitkin County, the kilns sit at center of the property for all to observe.

Highly misleading listing
This is a fly fish crashpad. The listing and the photos give the impression that you are on the river. The house is NOT on the river. This is a very salient point!. The house sits across the road from the river and up a winding dirt road on top of a hill. The property and house are very run down and at least 10 yrs past needed maintenance/repair: eg. cracked windows, splintered deck and siding. junk lying around, just to name a few items. Not a place to bring family for a getaway.

With the over 50 guests that have come to stay and enjoy this home, not one has experienced your confusion as to the location of this house in correlation to the river (which it is still very near). Nor have any guests trashed the property leaving garbage scattered throughout, beer cans all over the yard and hanging in trees, dead fish rotting on the patio, half the kitchen items uncleaned with spoiled food, etc.
This resulted in double the standard cleaning time, costs, items that were beyond repair, and regrettably delayed the next guests arrival for multiple hours. Zero of which costs did I relay upon you.
In the one instance I was able to get in contact with you, you seemed to understand the fact that an 8ft custom window can not be replaced in the middle of the summer when it is fully booked both before and after your stay. As stated in our phone conversation, the crack appeared just weeks before your dates and will be replaced in the spring off-season. This kind of thing in a remote location can take up to weeks to finish.
I’m not sure if you looked at any of the photos or read the listing before booking, but there are no images showing the river in the background of the home or vice versa. This is a very large property with the river running through the center, all private for guests to enjoy to themselves. The acreage and river access available is substantially larger than any property available to rent in both valleys, which is the appeal to most people. From this home you can see and hear the river from the back patio and is a very short walk down.
I am sorry for your confusion, I wish you had answered my calls or messages during your stay and expressed your dismay. I would have absolutely worked something out!
To leave a review that starkly contrasts the sentiment of all other guests and families that have stayed, rebooked and can’t wait to come back is unfortunate. To additionally trash a home and property that is someone’s personal ways of income is as well unfortunate and classless.
All the best,
Nice place to stay. Well stocked.
Only negative, we had one year old and upstairs railings were not child proof. But had gate to keep child off stairs. Would stay there again.
