Great Location & Comfy Place
It’s a nice place to stay, quite convenient. During the day the traffic can be loud at times but not at night!

I am a retired dentist and currently the Director of the College for Older Adults at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center. My wife is a retired museum director and the author of two books on the material culture of our region - 'Great Road Style' (University of Virginia Press) and 'Back Country Makers' (University of Tennessee Press). We both love old houses and local art. This property reflects those interests.

Why they chose this property

Abingdon is a beautiful small town in Virginia's highlands. It has a large historic district with many restored 19th century homes and commerical structures. My wife and I live in the district and have restored several homes in it. When this adorable Queen Anne cottage came on the market 3 years ago, we could not resist. We have basically left the cottage as it was when built in 1906, but added modern amenities. We look forward to moving in it ourselves when we 'downsize' at some point in the future.

What makes this property unique

Located on the eastern edge of Abingdon's historic district, Summers Cottage is within easy walking distance of six restaurants, the Barter Theatre, the Virginia Creeper Trail (biking and walking)and other local attractions. One can take in Abingdon's historic district and Southwest Virgina's scenic beauty while staying in a home, and enjoying a small town, but cosmopolitan, atmosphere.
